Happy 100th Anniversary White Castle! I visited this location so that I can try the Impossible sliders, a plant based option that has been around now since twenty eighteen! Since I visit White Castle sporadically I had not known the sliders existed until I stumbled upon a promotion of them by members of the Wu Tang Clan, a hip hop group from Staten Island, New York City. As a lacto ovo vegetarian that is always searching for plant based options the sliders were a must try once I discovered them. I was hesitant on visiting this location because it had low ratings in comparison to the West Garfield Park location. However, safety wise it was the better location to visit because once you cross Hamlin Blvd to go into West Garfield Park it is a whole different area, plus I am more familiar with this part of town. I ordered two Impossible sliders w/ a small fry & drink via drive thru which the experience was typical to most as far as wait time. I felt that I visited at the right time because after I ordered my food the flock of vehicles started coming in. The parking lot is small with only a few parking spots which becomes a situation if there are at least 3 vehicles waiting to order. One thing that frustrated me was an individual patrolling from the street to the restaurant parking lot, asking customers for money. It made this visit uncomfortable as I waited at the window as well as in the parking lot for my food to be brought out. Situations like that make me rethink visiting places late in the evening because there is already so much going on in the city. The Impossible sliders were satisfying, but nothing that I can see myself ordering on a regular. However, it is great to have an alternative plant based option, but I am just not one who visits White Castle on a regular basis. Despite others having a negative experience at this location, mine was not so bad other than the individual patrolling the parking lot. Ordered a few burgers with door dash when my order arrived it was not appealing. The bacon crumbles were extremely burnt, like so burnt. So I couldn't fully enjoy. I think I expect the sandwiches to be a bit soggy I don't mind that part but the brown mustard ketchup combo they put on it that looks disgusting and it reminds me of the movie the help. I threw mines in the trash. Yep next time it's just the waffle and chicken sandwich that's all I enjoyed. read more

Was so excited to finally try White Castle on my first day in Chicago . I walked there just to find locked doors. Whomp whomp. Seems like security concerns. They don't open for sit in dinning, you can only do drive-thru. I was so disappointed. They also won't allow you to order via drive-thru. The workaround is having a car or via ubereats. Not worth it, it made my stomach hurt. read more

I just want to say this Is my favorite location The people that work here are just so pleasant. I don't know who the two young African American boys that work here are and the older white lady but they are so pleasant everyday that I come and always seem to be working so hard oh, these guys are awesome! I came this morning and got my normal for cheeseburgers with my grape soda and of course the food was hot and fresh and always correct. The food tastes like a miniature McDonalds. Getting their brand from a local grocer is about the same quality as you'll find from the storefront. Just as overhyped as Sprinkles is for cupcakes. Would definitely suggest to skip and save your tastebuds and life experiences to something better. They heard my order wrong. Which I should've just left and not had bothered to get it corrected (they didn't charge extra or anything initially - just left off a full order). Lesson learned. Stuff happens for a reason and should just let it be. Also, it's simply a drive-in and walk-up counter storefront. No seating (neither indoor nor outdoor). Remember: food adventures are out there. I'm craving for some burgers today. So I went to this place because it is near my apartment. It's 5 minutes to walk and you will arrive at this place. The outside looks like a mini castle itself. They have an outside table for you to dine in. The dine outside was only good if it's morning and afternoon when there is no sun. It feels hot when you dine outside when it's noon. As you enter there are many tables inside and there are few customers dining in. I ordered chicken and waffle sliders and an original burger. The patty has a good flavor that makes it taste so good. I like the waffle because for me it's the perfect cook because it's not sweet and not tasteless. It has a perfect taste that is perfect for chicken. Alright, so some of you have followed me YELP talk about how I'm Canadian where WC's don't exist and have never experienced a "slider" after two years of living in the US. It is Nov. 13, 2007 - 12:47. I've just returned from "my first time. David W. - wish you were there to admire and be envious of my first time experience. I went to this White Castle because it is closest to work. There is a drive through and parking for about 8 cars. At first glance, I thought there would be an opportunity to sit inside to enjoy the whole experience of "my first time". But, I was disappointed to learn that there was only a walk-in window. The staff were friendly. Service a little slow - probably because it was lunch time. I peer into the window and saw four others frantically preparing a number of crave cases. I wanted one too - only because it had a Soduku game on the cover the the box. I wasn't in a rush - so it didn't bother me that it took a few longer mins than usual to prepare my lunch. Finally, 7mins and 20 sec. later, I had Meal #3 in my hands (consisting of 10 sliders with cheese), 2 orders of fries and two soft drinks. (I went with a coworker). The smell of the greasiness wasn't new to me. It smells like any other fast food joint. Delicious! (ok maybe I was hungry). We sat in the car and proceeded to pull out the buns packed in two's. Mmmm....first bite - no pickles. tasty! Second bite...PICKLES - the pickles definitely rounded out the flavor. YUMMY! The texture? I can't really describe it. Perhaps like a dumpling with pasty meat? The bun was soft and midly sweet. The cheese was great because I actually LIKE processed cheese served right. Whatever, I liked it...alot. I ate 3 of them. and I still have more to take home. Maybe I'll just eat it again for dinner. Will be interested to try these next time: Chicken rings on a bun, sweet potato fries with cinnamon dipping sauce, slider with jalapeno cheese. Slow castle is my name for this location. How is it that every White Castle I go to is super slow. How long does it take to cook the smallest burgers in the world. I don't know how they train them in here but I've never seen in this century White Castle's this slow. I used to go to the White Castle on 79th and Stony Island with my grandmother in the 70s you can see them cook the food through the glass. Now they have gone downhill with their service. I went to this White Castle at 12:00pm on 4/15/21, the height of lunch hour. I ordered a crave crate and they were very busy. The manager came in to assist the two workers. She walked the other two workers on how to fold the crave crate box. She was a good manager, she got in there and showed the workers how to cook an assemble the sliders. She did the crate in under 30 minutes. I told her that she was a great manager because she showed the workers how to do it. I told her I was going to leave a positive Yelp Review because I was impressed with her managerial style. read more

So not every trip to White Castle can be epic and involve a cameo from NPH. In fact it may be preferable if it didn't because it took an implausibly long time for those boys to get some White Castle. If you pull up and order in the drive through it will still take about 7-10 minutes to get your order. That's if you're the only car in line. McDonald's can get you a disgusting burger and fries in like 30 seconds most of the time. White Castle is also the nails on a chalkboard of fast food. The smell clears a room for everyone who didn't pick up a sack (maybe it's more like your own farts) but for those who did it's slider heaven. read more

this is only my second experience with white castle- I am not impressed- I had a rough day on saturday, and was pretty excited around midnight to hit up the white castle. maybe it was because i wasn't drunk, or that i am a bit picky , but the fries were mealy, and the burger wasn't that tasty- unless i decide to go on a bender near a white castle, which is very much not likely, i don't think i'll be back! read more

I don't know if it was just this White Castle, but when we went here to try it it wasn't as great as we were thinking it was. The first couple of bites of the burgers are good, but afterwards it just started making us sick. BUT, on the upside their fries are probably my favorite thing that we ordered. This is my favorite location in the city. Every time I order the food is ALWAYS fresh and hot! The people are so kind. Yes you may have to wait but that is because they are making your food! As a Californian I don't have the privilege of consuming White Castle burgers as I please. I had to a training to attend in Chicago back in April of 2014 and being that Chicago is one of the cities that do WC I decided to give them a try. The hype came from when I first seen Harold and Kumar, that movie really marketed WC, anyway, We pulled into the drive-thru, ordered 15 cheese w/ onions and 15 cheese w/ jalapeno. I was excited to finally have them, I unboxed them and they look just the frozen ones out here in the west, I bit into it and it taste just like the ones here, so I wasn't blown, the taste is like any other cheese burger, nothing extraordinary, I think its more for the experience, of course from west coast POV, I'd have them again, no doubt, but its nothing amazing, still white castle burgers nonetheless. I enjoyed everything the food, the experience and service. The food is not nasty, but I isn't anything different, I'd definitely recommend people try it (west coast people) just to live the experience. read more

Nice Place But.. When I first walked in the restaurant looked clean and the employees are pretty nice . The tables didn't have any trash and the seats weren't dirty. However, I was disappointed by the food. The menu was pretty straight forward and didn't really interest me. In my opinion, the menu could have better options. I ordered a cheeseburger and I was not satisfied. The cheeseburgers were a little soggy and bland. It wasn't flavorful at all, and the actual meat was thin. For a cheeseburger that simple, the wait time was kind of long. I believe the food is not worth the price. Overall, I would rate this White Castle a 2 out of 5 stars. read more

It's open 24 hours! The prices are relatively cheap! Service is friendly! It's right next to the bus stop! Make sure to go to at least one White Castle if you have never been. I would opt to go during the day for this location or if it's a late night stop, make sure to drive. I felt slightly out of place with my gf at 10 at night waiting for the bus after we got our food. And around that time of night, the bus only comes every 25 minutes so...yeah. I ordered two originals and two chicken sandwiches. She had two double decker type cheeseburgers. Fries were good, don't order the hot chocolate. It was an interesting experience. I love White Castle for sliders. I crave those steamed buns and little slabs of meat with onions. I've been to this location a couple of times with the drive thru. The drive thru is pretty fast and they usually get the order correct. Recently, my bf and I went there after a grocery shopping trip. We requested the sliders with cheese and half with no pickles. They all came with no pickles which didn't bother me, but it would have been nice to know when I was picking through each and every one to find the ones with pickles. This was my first time at a White Castle and it was ok. The wait was forever for our sliders and fries. Sliders were a bit greasy...like some parts of the buns were soaked in grease, but I guess I should have been drunk to enjoy them more? I'm just kidding but not really lol. Some may say I have a sick and twisted mind because I can eat these little sliders without having to be intoxicated. It's not an indulgence I do very often but occasionaly I like to take a trip to slider town. It's hard to call White Castle fast food, what they are doing to those tiny little sliders that takes so long to get from the griddle into that grease stained bag in my car alludes me. Came here and ordered there ranch chicken rings which were good. Had the fries with cheese ranch and bacon and were also good. There burgers are kind of weird tasting. There not bad.
