I coordinated a meeting at the Silverado Resort last month and Whetstone was recommended by hotel staff for one of our group dinners. I had the great pleasure of working with Danyel to help plan our dinner. She was wonderful to work with and provided so much helpful input to help ensure a perfect evening. I stopped by in advance of our dinner to touch base and met the lovely owner, Michelle Whetstone. She showed us where our group would be dining and described the set-up, etc. I went ahead of the group the night of our dinner and could not get over the stunning job they'd done transforming the outside courtyard and the dining room. Jaws were dropping when our group arrived and entered the room - we all felt like we'd been transported to a beautiful French chateau. Michelle gave a lovely "welcome" after everyone arrived and shared the history of the winery and information on the lovely wines we'd be enjoying. It really set the tone for the special evening ahead. The dinner was so special and the service very attentive and friendly. Our group is still talking about our Whetstone dinner and requesting a copy of any photos taken in our beautiful room. It was the perfect way to cap off our Napa meeting and I would highly recommend Whetstone for tastings and any small or large group events.

The entrance to Whetstone. This gorgeous building has been there since 1885.

This is a gorgeous and not to be missed location built in 1885. You feel transported as soon as you walk through the door. We have enjoyed many wine tastings in the area this week, however, Whetstone stands out amongst them. The atmosphere, The attention to detail, the service and the wine were a winning combination. We had a leisurely and wonderful tasting experience.

My wife and I returned to Napa for our 10 Year Anniversary. We found this hidden gem in our search for boutique, family owned, small production wineries. We hit gold! The grounds are incredible and the tasting room is very intimate and inviting. The wines are to die for, from their flavorful Pinots to their incredible Syrah. Jenna was incredible and such a great host for our tasting. We also had the pleasure of meeting and chatting with Michelle during our tasting which was so special and really brought home the family feel of the cellar experience. Anytime we visit Napa we'll be back to visit.

Whetstone Rocks the wine, ambience, tasting experience are all exceptional! The Viognier is a perfect start to the tasting! Yes! We will be back!!

We absolutely love this place! The wines are great. The people are wonderful. We always have a great time sitting here and admiring the lovely weather sipping on great wines from whetstone. I think this is one of Napa's great secrets; not many people know of this place. I think the owners do a great job making guests feel at home; all the staff are very down to earth; absolute pleasure. We always purchase a ton of wine and ship it home to have when we go home. Really enjoy this place. Thank you!

Lovely grounds, serene atmosphere, and fantastic wine. Our host Jenna was awesome! I purchased a bottle of crisp Viognier to bring back home. We will definitely be back soon for another tasting!

Cheers to the most amazing Viognier at Whestone Winery!

This is a belated review for Whetstone Wine Cellars, the beautiful historic Napa Valley chateau winery that I had my 40th birthday lunch and wine tasting at with my group of 15 girlfriends. I was looking for a winery to have a private group lunch and wine tastings at for my birthday in Napa, and I am so glad that I was introduced to owner Michelle and her wonderful team at Whetstone. Whetstone is a historic Napa Valley chateau that Michelle and her husband bought and restored. When you enter the chateau you will see details of Michelle's designer's touch. From the moment you enter the winery grounds, Whetstone is magical and breathtaking. All of the girls in my group were "wow"ing and "ahh"ing! Over the course of a few months before the big 40th celebration in Napa I worked with Michelle and her events staff to have boxed lunches with gourmet sandwiches, salads, and fresh baked chocolate chip cookies, paired with wine tastings for my group of 15. Our group was seated in the garden facing the chateau. Lunch was fed, and wines after wines were being poured. Whetstone is known for their Viognier, and I particularly liked their Pinot's. Michelle was a gracious host who welcomed our group, gave us a tour, and shared her winery's story. Ace, the mascot Labrador retriever happily joined our group. All in all it was an exquisite and truly dreamy experience for all. Thank you Michelle and the Whetstone Team for making my 40th birthday group lunch an incredible experience! Can't recommend Whetstone Winery enough for wine tastings and any group events you want to host at a beautiful Napa Valley historic chateau.

This was our second stop for my friend's bachelorette and it was perfect for our group of 7! There were not too many parties besides our group, maybe 3? And I'm surprised that it wasn't packed, since the service and grounds were so lovely. I did knock off 1 star because I felt the price point for a lunch & tasting ($120 pp) was overpriced for what you get. The lunch was essentially roast beef sandwiches and potato salad plus a biscuit. Filling & delicious, but not especially gourmet, and definitely not $120 per person worth of food. We also originally had a reservation for 8 people and we had 1 girl cancel about five days beforehand; unfortunately we couldn't get a refund because there was a signed contract for no refunds? It seems a little strict in my opinion. Besides that though, we had an absolutely lovely time at this wine cellar. We were greeted by Ace at the entrance and he offered us his bear! So cute. We were seated outside and were offered plenty of shade between all the umbrellas and trees. The lunch included a tasting of three wines. (I for sure thought more wines should have been included at the price point!). All three were lovely and I ended up getting bottles of the rose and a viognier. The service was on point. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly and we got a full history of the grounds and the wines with each pour.

Whetstone is one of our must visit wineries every time we are in Napa. They are the Queens of Viognier. Between visits we attempt to find other Viognier's that compare to Whetstones, but fail every time. They are that good! The grounds are gorgeous. Sitting outside enjoying a fall Napa day while tasting the best wines is a true joy. The tastings are relaxed, educational, and palate pleasing. To add to the awesome atmosphere, Ace, the head of security and welcoming committee hangs out with his multiple toys. We always go home with a couple bottles and dream of our next visit!

Wow. Gorgeous setting, amazing service, and I loved every wine I tasted. Just one visit and I am seriously considering becoming a member! While I was excited to try out a few new, small production wineries in Napa, I had no expectations that I would 'discover' my new favorite Napa winery! I was absolutely blown away by Whetstone Wine Cellars. Their tasting room lies in a beautifully reconstructed barn house with a wood burning fireplace, cozy armchairs, and a lovely wood beam ceiling. Their Classic Tasting fee is $45/person and by appointment only. I found this well worth the price for ambiance, attentive service and a delicious selection of wines. I am someone who will pass on the white wines on a tasting menu, because I have such a strong affinity for reds (and in particular Pinot Noir, Syrah, GSM). However, I loved Whetstones' Viognier enough to buy a bottle! My friend and I left our appointment brainstorming excuses to host a private event at the venue - joint birthday celebration, grad school celebration party, ladies who love wine weekend getaway... We are currently open to suggestions ;)

This low profile property right off the highway really exceeded my expectations. We didn't have an appointment but wanted to check out the grounds and the staff warmly invited us in for a quick glass before closing. The patio was lovely and comfortable and the Viognier was crisp and delicious. The staff was the real highlight, so personable and kind, and the reason we'll return on our next visit!

Very romantic place. The have charcuterie plates to pair with your wine

VISIT, VISIT, VISIT!!!! If you come to Napa, I highly recommend this place. This place captures the true essence of what Napa Valley was and has ever been. Cozy, elegant, relaxed, good quality wines. Napa Valley has changed and is not what it used to be before. Now must places you have to make appointment. At Whetstone wine Cellars you come without reservation, and you are greeted by Ace, the best Labrador host in the world. You can try a flight of their wines and sit in a relaxed environment. We were very honored to meet the owner, Michelle, who is a down to earth person and treated us like family. Our sommelier, Dominica, was very knowledgeable and friendly. We love this place so much that we returned twice after visiting so mane other wineries. This is a perfect place for romantic dates, weddings and special events. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH FOR MAKING OUR STAY IN NAPA SO VERY SPECIAL.

A very special Thank You to Michelle and Jamey . Michelle you really made our time so very special . 6 best friends that hadn't seen each other in over a year due to covid . Our special table was just what we needed to reconnect , laugh, smile and be grateful that we all all healthy and could really be together again . It was magical !!! Sitting amongst the old vines , blue skies , old world elegance. Your Rose was amazing and I am enjoying it right now as I write it's accolades . The Wine you let us taste brought happiness to our palette. Everyone is still talking about the day. Our companion Ace knew he was in the presence of softy's but we remained strong and no treats were given . I want to come back lol. Again , thank you for making us all feel special . Way above 5 stars . Hidden Gem in Napa

Quality/Quantity - I had a hard time with the website making my appointment, it's a user issue as I am just not tech savvy. So I called and someone actually answered the phone and made my appointment for me, THANK you! We arrived 15 mins early, so we hung out in the lobby reading all the history, etc. Then Skip took us to the best view overlooking the vineyard for our tasting; see pictures! We sampled almost ALL the reds! All of which were good. See pictures. I like the fact that we did side by side tastings of many of his wines. My favorites were the 2022 Primitivo and 2021 Malbec, which we bought a few bottles of. Ambiance - Secluded private winery. Close to main Downtown Napa, but far enough away for privacy and a feeling of being far away. Appointment only, so very private and customer focused. Typically no more than 3 parties at a time. Today was considered a very busy day as there were 4 parties including us, lol. Gated private estate. 200 acres. Plenty of parking, especially since hosting only 3 guests at a time. Events - See their website. Well behaved dogs are allowed outdoors. Service - Skip is a history buff and we both talked for hours... After leaving, well really the next day (LOL), I realized that our tasting was supposed to be only 60 minutes. I guess because we got along so well, we stayed until closing! And he gave me a glass with a generous splash and let us walk the property alone after they left! So welcoming and trusting. Price - Depends on which tasting and what you buy; see their website for prices. Tastings range from $50 to $100 per person. One free designated driver allowed. Tasting fees waived with wine equivalent purchases. Hike tours $75 per person ($60 for club members). See their website for more information. Owner Comment - Congrats on your family's success since 1939 and congrats to this winery's success since 1992.

My husband and I were able to call ahead and schedule a very last-minute tasting, and from the very beginning, the hospitality was exceptional. I work in the wine industry on the retail side in Texas, while my husband does not, so creating an experience that feels both educational and approachable for both of us is not always easy. Steve absolutely nailed it. He welcomed us warmly, shared thoughtful stories about the wines and the winery, and made the experience feel incredibly personal. The tasting room itself is beautiful and feels like a hidden gem in Napa. We especially loved learning about the wines and the woman winemaker behind Levendi. The tasting was stunning from start to finish. What truly sets Levendi apart, though, is the level of hospitality. Since our visit, I have referred many of my favorite clients to Levendi, and Steve consistently goes above and beyond for them. He bends over backwards to make sure my customers are taken care of, and every single person I've sent has come back raving about their experience. At this point, a trip to Napa would not feel complete without a stop at Levendi. I honestly cannot imagine Napa without Levendi -- or Steve. Shortly after, her husband (and the winery's owner) Adam walks up with their daughter and asks us how we're doing. We continue to be starstruck. Service was wonderful. Seating was comfy. The views weren't the best (we were drinking on the sidewalk and there's a parklet too.) The 5 wines for $29 was not bad, but the size of the pours was lacking. The first pour was the smallest and then slowly they seemed to give us more (maybe they heard me!) Honestly, the pricier wines tasted better. This is a winery if you're interested in the wine label itself not a vineyard tour. We are impressed by the wines and enjoyed almost all of them. They are reasonably priced for wine purchase though I'm not used to paying $75-150 per person for tastings during the almost post pandemic Napa climate though I understand the price increase. . The wines range from $25-75 which is not considered over the top in Napa. We enjoy Saxum wines ( $100 to $500) very very occasionally and I would consider that high end , so Vinoce is definitely not on the high end in terms of price nor overpriced for their wines. Fun fact: Our host mentioned that their wines are seen on the TV show series "succession" ... We enjoyed our tasting and especially loved the Pinot and Cabernet. The Sauvignon blanc was a surprise purchase for us because we tend to prefer reds. The tasting room is near the scenic river which is quite nice. I recommend Vinoce! Visit and enjoy

Our horseback riding reservation was scheduled for 1:00 p.m. We arrived on time with a group of five, but our ride was delayed approximately 30 minutes while staff waited for another reservation--a party of one--that arrived late. Under normal circumstances, I wouldn't have minded waiting. However, this was frustrating because during a previous visit, when our group was running late, we called ahead and were told there was absolutely no flexibility. Our ride was completely rescheduled because we were told the 1:00 p.m. ride was the last time slot of the day and they couldn't make other groups wait. It was disappointing to see that policy applied differently when it inconvenienced other guests instead. During the horseback ride itself, there was one staff member leading the group and another following behind. The guide in front shared the history of the winery, but despite riding near the front, I couldn't hear most of what she was saying. If guests are meant to enjoy the educational aspect of the tour, there needs to be a better way for everyone to hear. Additionally, it felt as though much of the staff's attention was focused on the solo rider in our group. They appeared to know her on a first-name basis, and whether they had a prior relationship or were simply trying to make sure she was comfortable, it left the rest of our group feeling overlooked. Unfortunately, the service issues continued during the wine tasting. Before we could begin, our wine consultant insisted that payment had not been made and stated he could not pour any wine until payment was collected. I had already paid in full and ultimately had to log into my bank account and show proof that the transaction had gone through before we could proceed. That was an awkward and unnecessary way to begin the tasting experience. The wines themselves were enjoyable but nothing particularly memorable. At the conclusion, our consultant simply ended the experience without offering a revisit of any of the wines we had tasted--a courtesy that many wineries provide and one we've come to expect during guided tastings. One final disappointment was the lack of any personal touches. I made this reservation months in advance for a birthday celebration and, after reading numerous positive reviews, was excited by the thoughtful details other guests described--such as personalized menus with guests' names at each place setting. Instead, we were given standard menus with no acknowledgment that we were celebrating a special occasion. While this may seem like a small detail, it's those thoughtful touches that often elevate a wine country experience and make guests feel valued. It was disappointing to see that level of hospitality missing, especially after booking so far in advance and reading such glowing reviews The property is beautiful, and the horses were wonderful and appeared well cared for, but the inconsistent customer service, lack of attention to guests, and overall rushed experience left us disappointed. Given the premium price of this experience, I expected much better hospitality and consistency. Unfortunately, I wouldn't choose to return or recommend it based on this visit.
