The midwives and staff were so knowledgeable, helpful, and supportive throughout my entire labor and delivery. The Doctors surgery in Rothwell has recently relocated to these premises, now on the out skirts of…read moretown (still within walking distance of anywhere in Rothwell). The surgery itself, despite looking dreadful from the outside, is very nice. It is large and spacious, bright and modern looking. There is a huge staircase in the centre which is a bit of toddler magnet, but other than that it can't really be faulted. There is plenty of parking, which was a problem at the old surgery. This practice has seperate facilities for the Health Visitor. A real bonus as she now has her own waiting area - ideal if you have kids. There is a pharmacy adjacent to the surgery, who are surprisingly quick. The doctors themselves are very good - with the exception of one (who I refuse to see), as are the nurses. The support staff are excellent also - they are really helpful and don't have an attitude which is typical of most surgeries. You can usually get an appointment on the day you call, and you are always invited to come and wait if necessary.

Covering both NHS and private patients they have several very capable dentists, friendly assistants and receptionists. You can buy most items you could need to keep your smile bright at the reception, from brushes and pastes to mouthwash and floss. Seating is very comfortable and unlike many they have a good broad selection of magazines that aren't 5 years old and aren't just glossy weeklies. They also have many children's books and a large TV showing videos of how procedures work for both adults and children the two dogs going to the dentist video is not only fun for kids that may be scared about their trip but is also pretty hysterical for the adults too who could fail to be amused by the sight of two jack russells driving themselves off in a little car at the end of their trip!? All in all, going to the dentist is never fun, but this place certainly makes it better.

I had a small piece of glass embedded in an upper eyelid which had resisted removal by myself for several days, but it was dealt with competently and swiftly. Other peoples' mileage may differ, but I have nothing but praise for this hospital.
