These features all make Stamford a superb A&E to end up in. Extremely knowledgable and experienced staff keep waiting times to almost nothing, and have earned the hospital much respect from the local community. If you break your arm anywhere near Stamford, aim to end up here rather than Peterborough District Hospitals (or other local hospitals), where waiting times are likely to be much longer.

Luckily, for me, this is the first time I have needed to visit A & E of this hospital after an…read more'episode'. On arrival by ambulance I was immediately taken to triage and passed through the various departments with total efficiency. I say efficiency but this doesn't lose the fact that there was a lot of joking banter and friendliness with the total professionalism of all the staff. I cannot speak highly enough of all the nurses and doctors in A & E. Thank you guys for making this traumatic experience a lot easier to accept.

999 brought an ambulance with two amazing young medics to our door who spent considerable time over…read moreblood tests and ECG, liaising with central over unusual features, then took me to the hospital, returning once (not too far luckily) because I had left home with my disabled wife's phone. I was quickly allocated a bed and assured I was well away from Covid area. Seen by several nurses and doctors including a CAT scan and allowed to go home after maybe 6 hrs max. Everyone so pleasant, efficient whilst remaining friendly and approachable, explaining all procedures in advance, and appearing to be one happy high efficiency team all working as one.

They are in the process of a refurb at the moment so it has been a bit chaotic in the A&E…read moredepartment. The new waiting area is clean and smart although the lights are extremely bright to the point that they hurt your eyes. The staff are all generally helpful especially the staff in pediatric A&E. Although there is no longer an accident and emergancy available at the hospital, it is a very busy hospital. Personally, I have used it for pregnancy scans and other x-rays, blood tests, midwife appointments, and out of hours gp visits. Without these, I would have had to travel 25 minutes to the nearest larger hospital, and having the emergancy doctor close by is so important, as without it I would have been wasting valuable time of the paramedics had I needed to call an ambulance. The hospital also takes care of a lot of the elderly members of the community, and the younger, by having a bay clinic twice a week. It would be a real shame and loss to the community if the hospital were to close down.

That was quite convoluted, but what I was trying to say is that both myself and my brother were born in this hospital. It's gone through many renovations since those days, but it still gives me a creepy, unusual, and chilling feeling when I see it. It's obviously a special place to me, but I don't really like hospitals, and besides, my brother nearly died here twice, once just after birth, complications from Asthma and such. You can blame my parents for that I suppose, they blame each other for it, so why not. It's a very modern hospital that is famous all over England, and perhaps all over Europe. Plus, it has to have a 5 star because I was born there. To give it less tha a 5 would just seem ungrateful. And this is the 1,981st review I've ever written, by the way.

It feels a bit odd reviewing a hospital. I visited a friend in here, so I can't really comment on…read morethe treatment, but on the experience of visiting as a whole. The car park is well signposted, but like most NHS hospitals, you pay on your way out and it costs several pounds. The hospital itself is a maze - there are signposts which seem to lead you in indirect routes, although you usually end up passing the help desk a couple of times to get more directions. It doesn't help that there are several entrances and exits on different floors. The hospital has a fairly nice atmosphere and doesn't seem too clinical. Some corridors have nice pictures on the walls, the cafe is wonderfully cheap (cheap squash, simple but cheap filled rolls) and there are book stalls and charity stands dotted around. It definitely feels like a place that is full of life.

Papworth's reputation speaks for itself. The services and staff are second to none. The Trust…read moreregularly gets deserved recognition for its treatment of staff as well as patients. Papworth hospital has a homely feel and is in a teeny tiny village. It is a very old hospital so everything is on one level and there are many portacabins still housing some departments. There is only one canteen so you won't find Costa coffee ruling the roost here as in many other hospitals now. It's worth visitors noting that mobile phone signal can be patchy across the site.
