We've been using Wheelcare to get a family member to medical appointments, including dialysis twice a week. Every time I call their dispatch line, they are super friendly and helpful, and have accommodated last-minute changes with ease. Recently there was some confusion about her dialysis time, and I calld Wheelcare in a panic. Scott was incredibly helpful, and went above and beyond to get everything sorted. FIRST & LAST PARTNERSHIP USE TO SURGERY IN SAN FRANCISCO on the way there i had several conversations with Scott, timing changed constantly for pick up and driver came 30 minutes early, So i got to SF 90 minutes too early in am The seat belt strap was broken, thankfully my wheelchair had one, he drove with 1 hand all the time with his other changing radio channels constantly In Sf he asked do you know how to get to your appointment? aweful-fortunately i had my cell with gps, speaking of which the lost driver on the way home 90 minutes late with my knee throbbing in pain after surgery, took 5 calls to him & callcenter for him to find me, then driver drove 80 mph back, nightmare company,avoid at all costs! read more

This company is so unprofessional and irresponsible. I have filed four complaints against them. They don't care if you need to get to an appointment on time, they load & unload wheel chair clients facing the street where clients could get hit by a car, and they have kept me waiting without communication for over an hour to get home from a medical appointment. Wife here, I'm a companion for a woman who is wheelchair bound. For the past few months we've been using Wheelcare express on a weekly basis for medical transport to a handful of doctors. The distance is less than 1 mile, yet despite making arrangements weeks in advance they are CONSTANTLY late. How late? Regularly 30-45+ mins for pick up from her home. Our last scheduled pickup, they were over an hour late causing us to miss our doctors appointment (cancer treatments), despite having made several calls. From the doctors appointments going home- EVERY SINGLE TIME we are waiting 60-90 mins past scheduled picked up. This is even with numerous calls to dispatch we are waiting. We have been left at Kaiser after hours multiple times with security checking on us as we are alone waiting for the van at a closed facility. Totally unacceptable!!! Let's talk professionalism- drivers sometimes come in uniform, sometimes their uniform it being put on as they are in the parking lot with us standing there, other times it's wadded in a ball on the floorboards. Drivers are not always neatly groomed and sometimes look like they haven't bathed. The past 4 pick ups we had drivers in training ... with drivers learning to drive the bus in AC/DC tank tops and no care in the world. Not understanding how to use their app, not able to navigate a simple route (wrong turns, too fast of turns, flying over speed bumps or too fast of stops). My favorite is the driver who will spew off conspiracy theories about the government and Chem trails and other nonsense that is irrelevant and inappropriate for people with medical transport concerns, anxiety and worries. Or being picked up 90 mins late by two guys listening to rap with fast food and not expecting me to be accompany my person. He stood in the back holding on as we were returned to her home. I was an inconvenience. Let's talk vehicles- we've been picked in in vans that smell, as someone left an old lunch in the back and it had rotted (drivers words). We've been picked up with bags of fast food that is laying on the ground. We've been picked up with a van that had a faulty lift and they had to hand crank the lift to get my person out. This same van had their back strap seatbelt cut and inoperable. I learned that there are no inspections required for a VAN. There supposedly is an app you MUST ask for that tracks your scheduled van and will show you where it is and who your driver is. We were not given this upon request. Both myself and the family have complained numerous times. Dispatch apologizes, they are exhausted and frustrated from Complaints (their words) but there is nothing they can do and say it will be better next time. We have found an alternative transportation service which is night and day... good riddance!!! read more

Totally crazy driver. Running yellow/red lights, swerving in And out of traffic to get a Few more feet down the road with heavy traffic. Making people put on breaks as he rushed to squish in where he could not safely. I hope nobody was inside in a wheelchair. I Love this Company! I trust them completely, they are like my second family! Been using them for over 10 years! 100's of rides. Only had one difficult interaction with a driver. Sometimes can be a little late but I always call them and everything gets straightened out quickly. Office staff are a dream! Never an automated system to screw with. No long list of questions to deal with either. If I'm finished early 9 times out of 10 they are right there to pick me up. Very clean, very safe, fantastically well trained drivers. They always listen to me or let me be quiet whatever I want. Tried another service last week and it was a nightmare. Dirty, rude, driver on the phone the whole time, seat belt not connected to anything, weird?? Mounted my chair sideways. So my spine was jerked back and forth constantly. A Wheelcare Express van ran a left turn red light at the intersection of Sonoma Avenue & South E Street on 06/25/2018. I hit the brakes and honked at him as I had the green light. I have dashcam video to prove it and replayed it to confirm his left turn light had turned red 10 or more feet before the Wheelcare Express van entered the intersection. I reported the reckless driver to the company today and have yet to receive a call from their "safety manager". The Wheelcare Express van was #80. I wouldn't want anyone I know to ride in any of their vans unless they address their reckless driver(s). read more

I work in property management and I'm always seeing their vans coming into our complex, very friendly drivers and helpful! I would think they're only there to pick up but nope, the drivers get out, goes up to the doors, retrieves the riders belongings, loads them into the van and then comes back and gets them. Even if they have family members there to assist them, the drivers right there chatting along. I've seen other services and I don't see this type of services from any other companies. Other companies, the drivers will wait up to 15 minutes while the disabled individual struggles to their transportation ride. Sad to see it happening while I'm working, but glad to know there's some thoughtful employees who work for a caring company. Keep up the good work!!!! read more

This company totally left me stranded. I had foot surgery and am non weight bearing. I explained that I live up 18 stairs and need transport. The first appointment went perfectly, they took me up and down in my transport wheelchair. Now, I am missing my follow up appointment, though they had my original order and I even called to confirm they would know about the stairs. This driver was 1/2 hour late. Then it was only one person, small and inexperienced. He couldn't handle the chair (should not have been sent alone) and after conferring with someone in the office, abandoned me. I have not way to make my surgical follow up appointment. This company is BAD, BAD, BAD! read more

On 101 south in Petaluma this morning (around 8:50am) behind a Wheelchair Express van, #92. The driver was speeding, tailgating, and swerving in and out of lanes. I happened to take the same exit, East Washington, into Petaluma. The driver continued to swerve and sped off Eastbound on Washington and left onto Maria. Anyone that trusts this company with a loved one is crazy. Reading the other reviews I can see this is habitual. read more

I have had to start using Wherlcare express recently because I had to stop driving for awhile due to medical issues. To me this feels like some of my independence is taken at only 50 yrs old. Fortunately for me today I got a driver that was amazing!!! His name is Jarod from the Santa Rosa, ca wheelcare express. He picked me up from my home and had a smile on his face and was very nice to talk to on my ride to my doctor appointment. we got along great like we already knew each other, he was also my driver taking me back home after my appointment and it was the same thing on time friendly and we talked a lot. I really hope this is his usual area because it makes it easier to accept not driving if someone treats you like a friend!!! read more

I have tried to use this service several times since i am a double amputee. In the beginning about 6 months ago, they were alright in getting me to my appts. However, as time went on they started to get later and later on their pickups. They have been getting much worse about punctuality. To the point that i started to miss very important appts that i had to wait 3-4weeks to get into for my medical care. The service they provide is absolute shit. And would not recommend them to anybody unless you want your medical care to suffer. All they do is make up excuses as to why they suck. They should close up shop. It was made abundantly clear to Wheelchair Express that I needed drop off and pickup for a medical procedure that would take 30-45 minutes. Because of my medical condition they were also informed how important it was to be picked up immediately after my appointment. When the appointment was finished there was no transportation waiting, so I called to ask if a driver was waiting for me or on their way, and I was told that a driver was right around the corner. 20 minutes later nobody showed up, so I called again. I was then connected with the dispatcher and he said he would radio to have someone pick me up. I then informed the dispatcher that I was told a driver was right around the corner. The dispatcher said it would take 20-30 minutes to get a driver to my location. When I informed him regarding my medical condition and that I had already been waiting over 30 minutes and needed a driver to respond sooner he then said I know how you feel, but that's the best I can do. I informed him regarding my medical condition and the immediacy of the situation and his response was to get angry and say it wasn't his fault. Well, I realized that I was dealing with another generational victim and just had to suffer until my ride arrived. I guess I should have apologized for my medical condition and for making him feel bad? read more

I am extremely happy with wheelcare express. My grandmother broke her hip and was staying at a convalescent home so she could get physical therapy. It was my cousins wedding and wheelcare express provided transportation for my grandma without their help my grandma would not have been able to attend her wedding. Their wonderful dispatcher Tonya gave us the times they would be picking and dropping my grandma off they arrived on time and let my nephew drive back with her to the hospital. I'm giving Wheelcare Express 2 starts because not all staff and drivers are bad. Some drivers are excellent ( I can't remember all of the drivers name. I work in a nursing facility and residents and family depend on Wheelcare Express whether if it's a private pay or insurance that have contract with them to get resident to and from appointments. 1 THING THAT I DO NOT LIKE ABOUT WHEELCARE EXPRESS IS THERE IS NO COMMUNICATION. They will not call you when they running late when it comes to picking resident up and from appointment. You literally have to call them to find out where the driver is and they will tell you "Driver should be there in 5 minutes" and they don't show up until 30 minutes or more later and residents are waiting forever which is unfair because some resident can have sore on they buttock and can't even sit for too long. You put a pick up time and they change it. You constantly have to call, etc to know what's going on. SOME of their drivers are RUDE and also staff members as well. When you call and complain, nothing is being done. You still deal with the same rude drivers and staff. You just never know what you going to get with Wheelcare Express. I recently had an interesting discussion with a driver of Wheelcare Express. We were in a supermarket parking lot and the driver wanted me to back up so he could take a parking spot right next to my driver side door. The problem for him was that (a) I didn't understand what he was trying to convey via hand signals in his mirror (b) he had passed the parking space 30 feet prior. So the driver decides to drive 29 feet in reverse and almost bump my car. I mutter to myself "WTF is this guy doing?" and then he closes the next foot running his van into my bumper to evidently try to make a point. I get out on my car now all of a sudden pretty pissed off. The Wheelcare Express driver gets out and asks me why I'm trying to be so much trouble. Nonplussed I ask him why he though hitting my car on purpose was a resolve to anything. He wouldn't give his license or insurance info and despite calling Wheelcare Express to report the driver with pictures... I've received no call back from the business. Long story short, terrible drivers seemingly afforded with the ability to drive like a-holes with your loved ones in their care. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. This is the last straw. While I was out of town your company FAIL to pick up my wife TWICE for dialysis ENDENGERING HER LIFE. Now, this is the fifth time your driver forgets to do a pickup at our address. Last Saturday, my wife tried most of the day to call the dispatcher line after you fail to pick her up and was not able to even get though. Tried again on Monday (holiday) of course, no answer. I have witnessed them leave the patient at the establishment (dental practice) after hours .. more than 3 hours after their appointment was finished. I called and called and no answer and when they finally do it's confusion about who their picking up and where and don't care their late . I cannot even believe they are still in business . No apologies nothing . I am so disturbed knowing this is how they treat their elderly . I am disgusted in the company and I will be telling all my patients to not use them. He then cut off another vehicle to take the stony point exit. I would never put someone I care about in the care of one of these drivers. read more

We were assigned to use Wheelcare Express for my 85 year old mother. The drive to the doctor's office was uneventful, driver was good. He stated that the young guys working there are a little out of hand. "When they get a van they use it like it's their own. They drive the vans hard and they get filled up with all kinds of stuff." Our pick up time was 3:15pm, no one showed. At 3:31 I phoned the office, was told the driver was in traffic but would be there 15 - 16 mins. At 4:02 I phoned the office, was told he's on the way and will be there in 5-6 mins. At 4:21 I phoned twice but my calls were not answered. I pulled out my mom's phone and called, and hey, they answered!! Driver showed up by then, but mistakenly put another person in a wheelchair, into the van. He started telling us he had someone else he had to to pick up and another person to drop off, and so on. Finally he informed the office they needed another van to come for that person. When the 2nd driver showed, he came to the window and was grumbling to our driver about how busy it was and how he had to rig up a seat belt for someone (the f-word was flying freely). We had to stop for gas... ?? I will say our driver was very, very nice but the office leaves much to be desired. They seem to be completely incompetent and just winging it. The drivers appear frazzled. I think they hire anyone with a drivers license and just give them keys. I DO NOT want to have to use their services again. Yeah: NO!!!!!!! It took us 3 hours (from pickup time) to get from Santa Rosa back to Sonoma. The doctor appointment was bad enough, the process of getting back home was not needed. read more

The communication among the employees is terrible. My mother missed her physical therapy appointment because the driver was apparently not made aware if the need to wheel my mother to two different buildings. He left her in one part of Kaiser to get a quick blood check, and never returned to wheel her to another building for her PT appointment. She was left waiting for him to return for over 2 hours. If the office staff had communicated properly to their driver, she would have made it to both areas of Kaiser as she signed up for. She and I have made several attempts to get a refund, but the staffer has not once called back. What a crappy way to treat people! read more
