Absolutely DO NOT bank here or have your elderly family members bank here. My elderly mom ( who recently had a stroke) was just treated terribly by their customer service line and then by Bob the assistant bank manager. She was just trying to do an address change and they first demanded that she shows up in person ( she's currently in a retirement home and unable to physically get into the bank) and they did this AFTER an hour of asking her questions on the phone and hanging up on here 2x! She provided them with all the information they needed yet they HUNG up on her and then said oh " the bank manager says you have to show up in person". I've heard that the customer service is crappy from this bank branch in downtown Wheaton but heck seriously? Now they're saying they will need her signature to change her address ( which is completely unorthodox) and will only snail mail it to her ( Bob refused to express mail it). Not only will my mom not be moving any funds to this establishment but we will make sure that others are informed of their lack of customer service. read more

I've had bank accounts at several banks in the area but I have to say that Wheaton Bank and Trust has been the most helpful. Recently we moved and I wanted to update my address. The local bank changed its records and then referred me to their tech department. The tech department changed my profile which allowed all of my bill payment payees to be notified of my address change made my life much easier. Thanks WBT! Jane H read more

This bank is very courteous to its customers. I went in to cash in my coins. They were very helpful and mindful.

I've been here for years but over the past few, it seems like the general CS attitude of the tellers/reps here have gone down the tubes. I am referring to the mature, seasoned employees. However, I must say that the exception, based on MY experiences, is the Bank Manager - I cant remember her name but she's very sweet and helpful and has been this way since I first met her like 10-15 years ago. Now, some of the others... well, lets say they might need to work on their skills. I feel that I am pretty easy going but I was a bit ruffled recently when I came in to deposit cash, which I had separated into denominations of $100, using THE DREADED ENEMY OF BANKS - staples. Whell, you'd have thought I handed them a bucket of origami folded bills to organize... After I handed it over, 3, maybe 4 of them had gotten involved, by either effort and/or sneer to remove the staples that I had used to bundle the cash. A few minutes in, one (older) lady turns from the group and reprimands me with a degrading tone to "NEVER DO THIS AGAIN!" Seriously, turned and looked directly at me and actually said this! I apologized only because they (she) felt so overwhelmed. I actually replied, "you know, I can do it, just bring the money back to me". Which they ignored. I guess, staple removers are an extremely hard find because for the first several minutes, they were prying them out with their fingernails (a nail file, scissors and knife - any of it would have worked) but finally, someone comes over with one. Friends, there were maybe 20-30 and I know, the counting machines can't handle this, which is why I normally have them removed before making a deposit. This was rare for me to not think ahead but this is not about the staples. Its about the attitude :/ I also, just want to comment about my request to have an expired debit card handed back to me. It seemed to cause a bit of aggravation. I thank you for your offer to use the bank's "shredder" but I really can do it. I felt like the teller was reluctant to hand it back at my request because she kept saying, now you need to destroy it - it cant be used. Guys, I'm literally a Grandmother - this isn't my 1st debit card. What were you suspecting I was going to do with it? I mean, you and I know that it is a cancelled card... Here's my perspective because I feel like sometimes you need to understand WHY from the OTHER persons viewpoint: I know the banks have shredding machines but I've never seen them and I really can't speak for their proficiency, but regardless, it's not at your desk right now and I don't like my signature floating around until it makes it into the jaws of this "machine". So, call me old fashioned, but unless I am present for the shedding party, I will shred them myself. I feel it's been years of build up, as it was similar when I opened some new accounts a few years back, and when I closed others, when I've made in-person trans and also on the rare occasion that I needed to call the branch. I don't have any real in-depth banking experience with this particular bank that I could review - just basic checking, but I'm not sure I'll venture into these opportunities because it seems like customer respect isn't really a goal for this location. I use Wheaton Bank & Trust for my small business banking. I was previously with Bank of America. The reason I switched was because I wanted to establish a line of credit. BOA basically told me they couldn't help me but Wheaton Bank & Trust was able to set me up with a basic line of credit as well as an overdraft protection line. This is been really helpful as I grow my business. Wheaton is part of the Wintrust banks so there are a bunch of other ATM's I can use for no fee. The on-line banking is not bad but it's not quite as good as what I was used to with BOA... but that's expected when you go from a multi-national to a local bank. All things considered I recommend Wheaton Bank & Trust. You get most of the benefits of a larger bank because they are part of the Wintrust group but you also get the benefits of a smaller bank where they seem to take your individual situation into account. read more

A prime location in downtown Wheaton and a glossy lobby don't make up for the lack of knowledgeable staff. I had to make multiple trips in to open a business account, and the process was incredibly cumbersome and time consuming. Most recently received a debit card in the mail for a closed account from a location I'd never been to, and the best answer I could get (after 20 minutes on the phone) is that "I don't know why you would have gotten that card." I'd recommend taking your business elsewhere in town. read more

First of all, I did not choose Wheaton Bank & Trust, our commercial loan was part of a bank buyout. While I was temporarily living out of state, I requested copies of our leases. A Vice President of Commercial Loans agreed to provide this simple request. Later that same day she emailed me stating that she would not be able to comply, due to not wanting to get involved with an account with court disputes. I had no idea what she was talking about. I am not the only mortgage holder, so perhaps she had information I was not aware of. After speaking with her and asking her what she was talking about, she became flustered and hung up on me. I called and spoke to the President and reported what I considered very unprofessional behavior. The President assured me he would look into the matter and get back to me. I left him a few messages to find out what was going on, to which he never replied. More unprofessional behavior. No matter what, customer service was terrible.
