No better than a commercial bank and at least commercial banks are honest about what they are. Nothing but greed drives their decisions. If you need debt consolidation you'll find no help here even if you're right side up and fully current on all your bills and mortgages. Pick a national bank so you can access your money anywhere in the country or globally. No longer any benefits to credit unions. read more

I have always found the Du Page Credit Union to be helpful and friendly as well as knowledgeable. I got a car loan in one day back when I bought my Mazda. I use their app with no problems as well to deposit checks. read more

Even after being approved by DuPage Credit Union and showing the dealership the rate and approval, the dealership would not sell the car without their high interest rate of 7.9% for 74 months, I assume, so that they could get their kickback from the bank. Thankfully, I already knew DCU would pay off the dealer's bad-rate loan at the pre-quoted rate of 4.49% over 48 months. I made the deal with the dealership, and 2 days later, the loan was transferred to DuPage Credit Union smoothly and quickly. DPU, thank you for a great, easy experience, unlike the car dealership nightmare of games read more

Much better now. Best rates. Great customer service when you need help with a loan or any other issues

From the beginning to the end everything was professional and pleasant. My loan rate was one of the best around.

I contacted DuPage Credit Union to refinance my car after my lease ended, I refinanced with the dealer and got bamdoozled. The process was quick, easy and smooth. I thought I was asking a lot of silly questions but they made me feel like no question was silly nor did I have too many. I worked with Roberta and Cameron. Patient. Knowledgable and personable. Fast. I had my financing in just a few days! The only hold up was my bank sending them the payoff letter. read more

I've been a member at DuPage for a very long time. I have a checking account, credit card, and personal line of credit. I moved to Atlanta from Chicago in the mid 2000s, but I still keep using my DuPage accounts. I recently applied for an auto loan and had a great experience. My wife's car was recently totaled and we needed to replace the car quickly. I filled out the loan application on Tuesday, reviewed the application with Lukas on Wednesday, then on Thursday we found a great car. The dealership offered us some good financing options, so I called Lukas back to let him know we needed to move quickly on the loan. He got back to me in a couple of hours and beat the dealership's options by 1% APR and had more favorable terms. We got everything done over the phone and the check is being FedEx'd to me now. This is actually the 2nd time I've gotten an auto loan from them over the phone and the process couldn't be easier. read more

They wasted over a week of my time being slow and incompetent while getting a loan for a classic car. The seller gave me two days to figure it out or he was going to sell to someone else after itd been a full week of a circus with dupage. I went to a new bank and had a loan and check in hand the next day for the same rate. I'd absolutely never do business with dupage, it was the worst loan experience of my life and thats saying something. Run away and find a different bank. read more

BE VERY CAREFUL!! I do not advise working with this group. I did not realize I was underinsured. I also did not realize that if I am underinsured, they will double my car loan rates. My auto pay did not cover it, so my credit score got eviscerated. Just go with Chase. Dealing with this group is not worth it. read more

I really do like to patronize local businesses, but there comes a point where the cost of using the 'local, little guy' is too great. I've experienced this institution go from a helpful, local minded and personal bank to an impersonal, out of touch, and severely antiquated business. It's inexplicable, really - they have some really talented members on their team, and charge more in terms of rates and fees compared to other credit unions, and yet they cannot get their online banking tools right. In fact, their current banking tools are the absolute worst I've experienced. (PenFed is top notch in comparison). In short, maybe they're better than Wells Fargo, but as far as credit unions go, you can do (far?)better elsewhere. read more

I recently worked with DuPage CU on two auto loans. Throughout the process, each staff was considerate and genuinely personable. Being a millennial I was taken aback by a bank willing to adjust to my goals. I never once felt like just a number or that they were forcing me into a one-size-fits-all financial product. And this was all before I was even a member. After we closed the loans I received follow up calls - not to check on paperwork but instead to check in to see if I had any questions or concerns. A few weeks later I stopped into another branch to make a deposit. I asked the teller to verify my auto loans were on auto-pay. She did the necessary work to answer my question and finished by saying "I'll call you if there are any issues in a couple of weeks." I was blown away by this! When was the last time a teller offered to follow up with you to ensure things happened when they should?! I was amazed. Keep in mind DuPage CU is not my primary bank, I do not have any sizable accounts with them, and the auto loans I received are not for a huge amount. This amazing service is their standard. read more

We've been banking here for almost 40 years and I've had several loans and credit through this company. We've always been dealt with respect and they've been helpful whenever I called with questions . The app is easy to use for banking and I rely on it exclusively. We have mortgage and second mortgage plus a few car loans . Wheaton location is convenient, too. read more

I happened across a chance to get a fantastic deal on a new car. DCU was recommended to me by a friend who sells cars. I reached out to DCU, and from the start, they were exceedingly professional, friendly, courteous, helpful, and overall provided me a phenomenal experience. They made the process to both apply for the loan, and submit any additional information incredibly easy--as was the process to sign the loan once we came to a deal on the car. I am extremely happy with my experience with DCU. read more

Very satisfied with my experience. Team pushed out original application expiration date since motorcycle was not available so that a second credit report would not have to be pulled. The worst credit Union in Chicago area. That's saying a lot considering how curuped 50% of the credit unions are around here. But this is by far the worst. They dont no any of their clients by names or faces. They have you do unesasary vaccinations, time and time again repeating private information with other guess around. I will never step in any of these laction ever again. read more

I recently applied for a car loan online. It seemed TOO simple of a process to me, but with their advertised loan rates being lower than my current bank, I felt that I needed to check it out. Within a day or two they followed up with a few additional questions, and then within another day or two they contacted me with an approval. I was impressed with the customer service reps, and with the ease of reaching someone on the phone when I returned their calls. I have never used a loan source for a car purchase - other than going through the car dealer - so this experience was new to me, and turned out to be simpler than I thought it would be. I have already recommended them to my family members and will continue to do so to others in need. Thank you DCU!! read more

Can you believe the service of the small credit union . I opened account took out personnel loan for $20,000 and pay 1 month ahead of due date and i found they were running a special for credit cards of 0% and 4.9% without transfer fee . First about me my credit score between all 3 credit reporting agencies is 800 , I've been in credit bureau for 40 + years , earn $100k + never a late payment , 10 years at current job , own 2 homes 1 paid in full the other about $350k in equity , no judgements or lien against me . And was turned down stating that I have too much debt . How can that be when all my payments are early and never late at 18% . Also Lobby is closed for over a week now due to lack of staff , what does that say ? You have to use drive up window only . Are they that broke not to hire proper staff ???? I know , I'm leaving them and going to a bank in my home town of Park Ridge . I don't like corporate banks but we have 3 private banks in Park Ridge , which I prefer because of the personnel service and none of the corporate B.S. To Finish CITI gave me transfer for 0% for 21 months without a second thought . DuPage you loose and I hope people take this in consideration before going to DuPage . Ted K . Mosty good small bank that got their foot in the door by catering to Wheaton city workers and teachers long ago. Employee owned means nothing to us who give them our money. I can't say enough about how helpful the Dupage Credit Union employees have been for me! I was in a rush to find a vehicle loan because my lease was set to expire in three days. Michelle, Robin, and Brad are just incredible! They answered all of my questions , set proper expectations for next steps, and checked up along the way for the best customer service experience I've had in a long time. I haven't used a credit union before and was so pleased at the outcome. The results are I have my loan taken care of at an incredible rate. read more

I was once a member of a credit union. (This sounds like the beginning of a horribly boring limerick. I assure you, it is not.) When I went to school downstate, there was a credit union that pretty much ruled the town because it was originally started for employees of Caterpillar, who, by no coincidence, also ruled the town for awhile. So the credit union had tremendous buying power because of the number of its members. Conversely, DuPage Credit Union seems rather content to be nestled snugly along the Roosevelt Rd. corridor (and of course, the requisite branch in Naperville). I'm a member here- and it's never a bad idea to start a membership at a credit union- because they typically offer pretty competitive rates on loans for auto, home, and other projects. All it takes is a $5 deposit in a savings account, whose balance cannot dip below that $5. And as an example, I was able to get a 1.99% interest loan on my car. It could've been 1.49% if I'd opened a debit/credit card with them, but the last thing I need is another thing to remember to pay on time. Speaking of, my loan due date is on the first of the month. Easy enough to remember, right? Wrong. So when I forget to pay on time, the grace period is 10 days afterward. I do appreciate that, and so does my wallet. They also offer insurance services through third party providers for life, home and auto, but nothing better than the coverage I already have with other providers. The people here are friendly enough. The atmosphere is slightly more welcoming than a doctor's office waiting room. They don't have the extended hours that I've become used to at my main bank, plus they're only open 1-5 on Wednesday. Sooooo, there's that. DPCU gets an A-OK in my book. Like me in my grade school gym class, it gets an A for effort, C for results. read more

I'm not a member of Dupage Credit Union, but I am a member of another credit union and appreciate the ability to use the ATMs at other credit unions - including DCU. During a recent visit to make a deposit at this branch of DCU, I encountered some problems with the ATM. The teller at the drive-thru window was more then happy to answer my questions - even though I wasn't one of their members. She also gave me a handful of deposit envelopes and tickets which now have their own special spot in my car so I'm not without next time. Thank you so much for your help! read more

I got a loan for a motorcycle. Seemed ok got a decent rate. Went in and signed the paper work, keep in mind the closest branch is 2 hrs away. Guy told me I should get a checking account to deposit checks to make payments. I said I don't need a checking account. He said it will make things easier and it is free. I said so there is no minimum balance or fees associated. He said correct. Now everything had been fine but all of the sudden they charged a 12 dollar fee for the checking account. I don't keep money in there so if they do that they will over draft the account. They apparently were not happy with making interest on the loans and decided to go for more fees. I call and the girl on the phone instantly becomes defensive and kind of hostile. She say well I can reverse the charge as a one time curtesy. Like I am at fault. Then tells me you knew about this and I had received a phone call about this. Both lies. Don't go here they are liars, this started out simple and grew in to an issue of trust. Either the guy who signed me up lied or she is lying. But she also lied about contacting me. Liars in a bank should be fired Jamie!!!! read more

BEWARE! RUN, RUN FAST! They are not part of the National Credit Union Association. They are not Federally Insured! They are insured through another company. THAT MEANS THEY DO NOT HAVE TO FOLLOW ANY GUIDELINES! And do not CARE ABOUT CUSTOMERS! If you set up electronic payments from a different financial institute to them - their end of day is NOON! Anything received after that is credited the next business day. That means if you wanted the payment applied on Friday - it won't be until Monday, unless Monday is a holiday. And they DO NOT CARE about their customers. Phone calls are not returned! THEY DO NOT CARE! read more

Unable to pay auto loan online or over the phone. This bank does a lot of auto loans. Got a good rate etc. The only issue is that you can't pay online or over the phone despite the fact that they tell you that you can. I have been banking here a few years I can honestly say I feel very uncomfortable at times but today was just horrible! My father passed in July and yes I am coming into some money actually kind of life changing for me. I am a big supporter of small buisnrss and local credit unions but after today this Credit Union will probably no longer have my buisness...I received the first check of my dad's estate from a 401k distribution the check was drawn from the trust account because ith distribution needed to be divided 5 ways. When I presented the check I was prepared for a 3-5 day hold but this was not the case it was first told to me a 10 day hold when I questioned this the teller came back she told me the soonest my funds would be available would be the 12th today is the 4th. I spoke to the rest of the beneficiaries they deposited their checks funds cleared the next day and money was in their account 3 days tops! Is Dupage Credit union to small and not up to date with today's technology it appears so...then there was the questioning about the name on the account which was my dad's account but the account now has the name of the trust on it. Why was this even a issue. It is not the first time I have been made to feel uncomfortable about the amount I am depositing and it truly a awful feeling. The trustee is watching the account to see when the check actually clears and see how long Dupage Credit Union decides to sit on MY money before letting me have actual access to it...may update on this whole scenario but in the meantime I will be looking for another bank that treats me as a worthy customer and appreciates my buisness I can see with Dupage Credit union this will not be possible...I am not a crook and tired of being treated that way@ read more

In August 2019 I applied for a RV loan. The process took well over a week even though I have excellent credit. I had no debt except a car loan. DCU kept passing me off to a new loan officer and that person did not review the documentation history. They asked for the same documentation multiple times. Then they wanted my wife to co-apply. I kindly gave in and added her. That started the documentation process over again. I said no, told them if this loan is not approved that day, I cancel the application. They called with an approval a hour later. That was strike one. Strike two: I had to open an account and have a $5.00 balance. I gave them $20.00 expecting to get back $15.00. They added the $20.00 to the account. After a month I received a $5.00 penalty due to incorrect address. I called and they had the wrong Zip code. They corrected the Zip and reimbursed me the $5.00. Second and third month, the same thing. Third month I also enrolled in paperless statement. That solver the problem. Strike three and four: In December 2020 I got a nasty email threatening to enroll me it very expensive insurance (If we purchase insurance your premium cost will be $7,803.00 for 12 months), due to having no deductible on my collision insurance so they assumed I was in violation of my load contract. I have a deductible and insurance. I had my insurance company send over to DCU the insurance documentation. Got an email insurance was up to date. January I received an email about the same thing, same threat. This time I called and straitened out the problem. I made the decision to pay off the load before the next strike. God knows what crap they'll pull next. Hope the address is right so I get the title, I should check. In closing, that was by far the worst loan I have ever had and I've been getting auto, RV and mortgage loans for 50 years. My advice, got a loan from a real bank because the rate may be higher but make a mistake with DCU can cost you much more. They spend more time trying to rip you off than service the loan process. read more

Been a member for over 8 years and in the beginning it was great. But since then it has been absolutely terrible. The online banking almost never works or I keep getting locked out of my account. They block transactions for company's like eastbay when I am trying to order shoes, but let my account transfer money to India with out even checking if it's me. This is just some of the more recent problems I have been having,I have a lot of other issues but it would take too long to get into. I have banked with the credit union for years. Honestly with every year it gets worse. Today is Sunday. They have no branch hours or even phone hours. I have tried to log into my account and it has a message that says it is down for maintenance on February 25th ( that was last Saturday by the way ). How does this happen? Why not open your phone lines so people can bank over the phone since your online service is down? How about an email informing your members of this disruption in service ? The banking world no longer takes Sunday off. This is not the 1950s but many of the services that other banks offer are not available with the credit union. It seems that at least good customer service should compensate for that but clearly that is not the case. read more

Mostly satisfied with service and products. It would have been 5 stars if they hadn't illegally PROFILED me as passing counterfeit 100 dollar bills. They had me come inside to the lobby from the drive thru because the teller said the bills looked "suspicious" and they were calling the FBI, for goodness sake. I am a white male and had facial hair and longer hair pulled back in a ponytail (I'm in show business). Maybe the uptight, pencil necked, squirrel eyed teller thought that my appearance looked suspicious and called in the calvary, but he blamed it on the appearance of the money, which had NO indications of being counterfeit and didn't look at all suspicious. I had been a member for years and had dealt with the same teller multiple times! They scared the life out of me. They brought me into a secluded office and made me sit for 45 minutes while they called the FBI and checked serial numbers. I had never been so embarrassed, I was late to my appointment because of the delay, but low and behold, the bills were genuine! I didn't even get an apology! So, the next time I went through the drive thru and got the same prejudiced teller, I told him that the bills he gave me looked suspicious and I was going to call the FBI on him. He gave me 4 sets of bills before I decided to relieve the members lined up behind me in the drive thru. I avoid depositing cash for fear that they are going to call the FBI on me again. Thanks a lot, DCU. If it weren't for your otherwise good service I would have left a long time ago. It's a good thing I'm not dark skinned. read more

What a joke. They advertise interest rates that they won't honor, and they make you jump through a ridiculous number of hoops before letting you join. Once you're a "member," you're still subjected to additonal "screening" before they'll even tell you what their rates are. And don't fall for the line they give you about their requirements not being "risk based," ie based on credit score. Good luck getting a loan unless you don't have lots of income and no debt. read more
