I came here on Friday afternoon to close my accounts for good. I thought the experience would be bittersweet, but I was wrong. I specifically came back to this location because I prefer the people that work there. When I speak with them about nearly anything, they understand me and I don't have to revert to talking like I would to a small child. It's the little things, really... There are many reasons I finally decided to walk away from Chase, but the straw that broke the camel's back was receiving a letter 8 months ago from them stating that I needed to call them and provide them with information regarding my employment. I was put off by this request, as in the 18 years of banking with them, why are they asking for this information now? So I called to see what it was all about. They stated that due to some new "policy" and "procedure requirements" they needed employment information for all of their customers. I told them that I am employed full time and that's all they needed to know. The rep, we'll call him "Bob" (although I'm sure his real name contained many more syllables and is difficult to pronounce) said he needed to know the name of the company. I told him (in much uglier words) that it was none of their business who my employer was; I again am employed full time and have the W2's to prove it. After much back and forth, I told "Bob" that I refused to provide them information and asked what the ramifications were for not doing so. He stated that the bank then would have the authority to close my accounts. Say what?!?! I laughed and said "do it, then." You'd save me the time of doing it myself. *Note- they never did. Nice threat. Eight months later, after making sure all linked accounts were updated to my new bank, I walked in to this location and met with a personal banker and explained that I wanted to close my accounts. She just smiled and nodded as I handed her my driver's license. She asked me if there was a particular reason I was closing my accounts and I told her that I was tired of Big Big shenanigans; I had opened an account with a smaller, community oriented bank and was much happier with them. "Basically, they're everything Chase isn't." She didn't have a response to that, but just "um hmmmd" and continued processing my request. I handed her my debit card and it was all done and over in about ten minutes. As I walked out of the building, I thought it was strange that she didn't inquire further about my disappointment with my accounts. There were no attempts to keep me as a customer , which I can't say surprised me. As far as this location goes, it really is a nice bank. The tellers are friendly and helpful, and there is ample parking both on Wesley street and in the back parking lot. But I can't say I'll miss them.

Karrie took the time to explain two options to me: their most popular, the "virtual wallet," and free checking. PNC offers free checking accounts, but with a price: you have to have direct deposit. I was looking for a secondary account which wouldn't be receiving a steady, bi-weekly paycheck, so this option didn't work out for me. But basically as long as you have a J-O-B, PNC offers a solid option for free checking. The virtual wallet is a checking account combined with a short-term savings and a long term savings. This sounds a little too fancy and complex for me, my goal was to find something where I could deposit a few willy nilly profits from a home-party business (which has since FLOPPED). But this 3-in-1 account dealie is worth it if you like all your money in one place, but technically it's 3 places, so you won't blow Little Susie's college fund at the casino. PNC is a great neighborhood bank with a bunch of west suburban locations.

However, at this time they are shutting down services at the Roosevelt location and transferring to the Danada Square location. That is most inconvenient for me as it is out of the way of my routine travel routes. The personnel at the Danada Branch do not appear to be nearly as helpful, friendly or personable as those in the Roosevelt Branch. My 5-star rating is for the branch that will no longer be in service. My first impressions, after 3 interactions at Danada Square is 3-star ... average but nothing beyond that.

My wife's car was recently totaled and we needed to replace the car quickly. I filled out the loan application on Tuesday, reviewed the application with Lukas on Wednesday, then on Thursday we found a great car. The dealership offered us some good financing options, so I called Lukas back to let him know we needed to move quickly on the loan. He got back to me in a couple of hours and beat the dealership's options by 1% APR and had more favorable terms. We got everything done over the phone and the check is being FedEx'd to me now. This is actually the 2nd time I've gotten an auto loan from them over the phone and the process couldn't be easier.
