My wife ordered the gnocchi and steak and it came out very overcooked, which they graciously corrected. But it couldn't have been more than a 3 ounce piece of steak. I got the shrimp and grits. Shrimp is very tasty, but the grits were like water. It was very relaxed and comfortable. I noticed the poor guy across from us. Got there two pretzel appetizer that came out seconds before their meals. Not good timing.

The ambiance is beautiful, and I loved sitting at the bar. A few people around us ordered food which looked pretty good. I stopped one night in the Youngstown area and the hotel manager suggested Station Square for…read moredinner. He described it as an Italian restaurant, but that doesn't do it justice. The menu is big, with all the Italian pasta, veal and chicken favorites you could want, but also with an extensive seafood menu, steaks, chops and salads. Station Square is apparently a Youngstown institution as it was celebrating 40 years! The restaurant is incongruously attached to a Super 8 motel, but don't let that throw you. This place is big, but it is well run. The staff is friendly. I sat down and my server appeared promptly and my food came out quickly, even on a busy Friday night. I had the salad of tomatoes and peppers, which is exactly what it was with a little oil and vinegar. Nothing fancy, but good. I had the chicken Parmesan with angel hair pasta. Very good. I finished with a blueberry cheesecake, which was excellent. I also enjoyed a professionally made old fashioned. It all worked for me!

The problem is, the place was packed and is clearly a very popular restaurant here. To start, the service was great! Everyone was super friendly and fairly attentive. Moving on to food. We shared two appetizers, peppers in oil and fried Zucchini flowers. The peppers were ok but had just a low quality olive oil that made them seem greasy. I've had fried zucchini flowers many times growing up in an Italian household but these were the worst I've ever had. They were overstuffed, over battered, and again, greasy! Not sure why they offer this dish when you can't taste the flowers at all as they are overpowered by everything else. Next, I had Chicken Marsala. I've had chicken Marsala all over the world, have cooked it many times, and I absolutely love the dish. This version was unlike any other version I've ever had with the addition of a ton of peppers. The chicken was cooked properly but the sauce was gloppy, didn't taste like Marsala, and seemed like it was cooked by someone who doesn't understand that the best Italian dishes should be simple and not "overhanded". The chicken parmigiana was the best meal out of everything they made but unfortunately the spaghetti it came with had waaaaay too much sauce and the parmigiana cheese (which we had to ask for) seemed like the low quality stuff you can buy in a jar at the supermarket. I guess the overall impression was poor quality Italian food made with average quality ingredients. If you like Olive Garden, then you'll probably be happy here as it felt like this restaurant from the food to the decor is stuck in the early 80s. One other note - the prices were very reasonable but as many Italian places in the US are, they don't understand that the main principle of Italian food is high quality ingredients combined with simplicity.

This place specializes in seafood. Apparently they have a oyster bar that opens at 3 o'clock. We did not do that. We ordered off the menu. An open face chicken Parm sandwich and shrimp pesto over penne pasta. Both meals were absolutely wonderful. They weren't too much and they weren't skimpy either. Just right for in the middle of the day. The french fries are out of this world. They taste just like my mom used to make when we were kids. That's because they were made out of fresh potatoes like my mom used. They served bread with it also and they were rolls. I believe they were homemade. They had a real nice light sweet taste to them. They also as one of the soups of the day had New England clam chowder that my husband thought was excellent. The place is decorated beautifully. There's lots of room. It's good for just two people to come and eat or if you have an event rehearsal dinner or a little family get together there's plenty of room and it appears they even have an extra outside entrance for events in the side room. The waitress was wonderful. That the menu as you can see from the pictures I posted is really diverse. A lot of different items that you won't see anywhere. For instance there was roast fried green peppers in Oil with bread. I wanted to try that, but I went towards the Parmesan instead. They got a couple different greens dishes too. There's sandwiches Rubens and hamburgers and buffalo chicken sandwiches. And I didn't see any of the salads go near us however they have the regular salads like we find in western Pennsylvania with the french fries and steak on them. The bar looks really nice. They had a beer on tap and had a white selection again. I posted the picture with it. I would come back again when we're passing through it's a must go to place.

She looks miserable, geez, at least make an effort! So I ordered chicken and waffles and my husband ordered a few wings. As for the food..... The chicken tenders are AAMazing! I can only assume it was the manager/owner that delivered our food. I asked why we had a limited menu as I read here on Yelp I should have the prime grilled cheese.
