He's fine with having them cut, this is negligence not because he squirmed. 3rd bath they didn't do his nails or trim his paw-pads. I was told he only got a bath, but last two times it was $69 he got a bath, nails and ears are were included; this time, I paid $75!! I left a message asking for a call back, received a text back from someone who was very rude, and I asked them to call me - Twice. To which there was no response, and no call. I no longer bring my dogs here. After being a long term customer my dogs eye was injured here and it is so severe that he is on pain medication for 5 days and requires a follow up vet appointment. In addition he needs eye drops three times a day. The owner stated for me to bring the bills to this business location which I did. How do you drop off a perfectly healthy dig then need to take it to the emergency vet and my dogs eyes is so blood red and he cannot open it for 4 days now? Love the crew at Planet Poodle. They are always 100% accommodating and friendly. Their work is excellent too. I trust them completely. I came home and told my husband: Boy they all really like Fred (our Jack Russell, who hates being messed with in just about any way) but I realized, they most likely treat all their clients that way. First, let me start off with some positives: I have a mini goldendoodle and they did do a good job with the actual groom. I showed them a photo, and they were able to replicate the look I was going for. Additionally, I forgot to mentioned the $10 promo on their website during the first appointment, and after following up with them, they were able to honor the discount on my second visit. With the above said, I feel obligated to give those considering this place a heads up on a few negatives, mainly around cost transparency: When making the initial appointment, I was told that base cost would be $60 + fees for additional requests (at the time, he was ~15lb) but when he was done, it came to $74 for a puppy cut. I felt that this was a bit on the expensive side but was willing to give them another go and ended up booking an appointment 4 weeks later for a more extensive cut. As I dropped him off, I asked for an estimated cost (he is now 6 months, ~20 lbs), to which the first groomer said $80-85...it ended up coming to $95 AFTER the $10 discount. When I asked the front desk where the additional $20-25 came from, they brought out the groomer--who turned out to be a different one from before--who explained that base costs for dogs his size are $90 however, because he was a puppy and moved around a lot, he took more work to train him than expected. I wish that this was mentioned at the beginning... As a dog owner, I am well aware of the costs involved but at the end of the day, it's not the price that bothered me but the lack of transparency when providing clients with estimate prices. Yes, I could have asked additional questions around price, but I also feel that the groomer owes it to its customers to be open about what affects the final cost. read more

I use to absolutely love this place. The staff was always super accommodating and friendly. My sheepadoodle use to run in all excited...well that all changed after this past visit. He originally had an appointment for last Friday but i received a text message last Monday asking if we could possibly move to Thursday which I agreed to. The appointment time was for 11, so we dropped him off at around 10:45. At around 1pm I received a text message stating that he was "extremely matted" and will need to be buzzed. Another message was sent through saying it was because he didn't get a bath there 2 weeks prior. I responded to the message stating that he did get a bath and blow out but at his doggy daycare because planet poodle was no longer offering puppy play time so we had to sign him up for doggy daycare. The package we got included a bath and blow out. When he came home from that, he was floofy and not knotted at all. I then received a call from Beth who I believe is the owner. I have only had two experiences with her and both were extremely unpleasant. Both times she was rude, degrading, and more or less accused me of not taking care of my dog. I explained the situation and her response was that "doggy daycare isn't equipt to give baths or properly brush out a dog". I then explained how we brush him out everyday to which she responded saying "well then you're clearly not doing it right because if you were you would notice the matting close to his skin" and then continued on to state that "it takes months to teach someone how to properly brush a dog". I don't understand what they were doing with him from drop off to 1, aka 2.5 hrs. If he was so matted, you would think they would have noticed that immediately from being dropped off and not 2.5hrs later. After being basically berated for 15 minutes I responded with okay well what should be done, which her response was buzz. Meanwhile we keep his hair short in the summer because otherwise he's too hot. I was very upset with this interaction but said okay. At 4:30, 3.5hrs after being yelled at, I called twice and then messaged the system asking about my dog because I had not heard anything about him since 1 and he had now been there for almost 6 HOURS. I received a text message back saying he's be ready at 5 and they were fortunately able to get most of the matting out (which Beth originally said was not an option). I was then charged $160 which is outrageous especially since he gets bathed every two weeks ($80) and then groomed every 4 (another 140-160). I seriously don't think he was as matted as they made it out to be especially since they were able to keep most of his fur. I believe it's a con job because if there is any type of matting there is an "up charge"which is not disclosed to you til after the fact. In fact, you NEVER know how much the grooming will be until you receive a text to pick up your dog. To make matters worse, Friday morning my dog was shaking his head constantly and seemed to be in discomfort. When we looked into his one ear, there was a disgusting amount of wax/gunk that was not there before grooming. Additionally he has not had an ear infection since he was a baby so it's not like he's prone to them. I made a vet appointment and took him there today. And guess what, double ear infection. The vet said the ear infections were caused by the groomer not drying out his ears properly. The vet visit and medication cost $230. I am beyond disgusted with the way I was talked to as not only a customer but as a person. Human decency should be a constant. Then on top of that I found out they basically didn't do their job properly but want to accuse me of not taking care of my dog, leaving me with an uncomfortable sad dog and a $230 vet bill. Do not waste your time or money here. I've never been so disgusted and horrified by lack of deceny or care. read more

I would not recommend Planet Poodle to anyone. The staff is great however the owner Beth is horrible. I brought my dog in for a cut and wash and was charged 122.00. And to top it off the groomer who normally cuts his hair did not and it barely looked like he had a haircut. So when I complained about no one even telling me someone else was cutting his hair, instead I get an email of my subscription being cancelled. I called Planet Poodle back and was told that Beth cancelled it because she felt I wasn't a good fit! The audacity of her to do that without calling me herself. Terrible customer service. read more

I was a long-time customer of Planet Poodle for more than 10 years. They are very good groomers. Be aware that dogs are free to roam the shop, and my dog was bitten once and almost always came home with some fleas. But my biggest complain is that the owner is crazy. She is one of the nastiest people I've ever met. Because I had the nerve to question an increase in prices, she cancelled my appointment as I stood there with my dog. I have since heard from other groomers who have worked for her that she is a monster. Makes me worry about how well treated my dogs are when I'm not there. Just called them and they are no longer called Planet Poodle. The new name, by the same owners, is "What The Floof" and they are a membership only groomer, which means that you pay a monthly fee for the grooming based on how many times per year that your dog is groomed. They quoted me a cost of about $90 per service. There is a waiting list right now. All services are included except teeth cleaning, which they do not do at all. Nail clipping includes filing the nails, as well. Going to a membership groomer means that you are kind of locked in to that groomer, which some customers may not prefer. I have not gone there, so I am only rating them a 3, due to the membership concept. Thanks read more

Been taking my dog there for over a year, no major complaints about the grooming of my dog. The Wall location was sometimes hard to make an appointment with but never had an issue with Red Bank, until recently. My dog has been on a waiting list for 2 months to be groomed. I have been a regular client since early 2018 and there's no end in sight for this wait list since the groomer 'is busy with shows'. How can you treat loyal customers that way? Maybe refuse new clients? (Keeping in mind that my dog is a terrier and requires special grooming. Very hard to find a groomer trained in that skill) read more

I have been having my dog groomed at Planet Poodle/Fluff for sometime. The last visit was a nightmare! Upon dropping my dog off, I reminded staff to cut my dogs dewclaws as this was forgotten during the last visit. A few days later, while out for a walk, I noticed my dog favoring her right back paw. When we arrived home I tried to wipe her paw to see if there was something wrong with it. She yelped out a horrible cry. Whenever I went to touch it she would pull it away and whimper. I immediately took her to my vet and was advised that my dog would have to put her under to see what the issue was. This is always dangerous and not something I want done unnecessarily. My vet told me that the back dewclaw nail bed was nicked and infected. She was put on an antibiotics & pain meds. The vet bill was over $500. I called Planet Poodle/Fluff and asked to speak to the owner. After three more calls & two days later Beth returned my call. I told her, "my dog had a serious infection in her back right side dewclaw from improper trimming and how upset I was. I continued with, I understand mistakes can happen, but I should have been informed that the nail was cut too short as I would have monitored it and the infection could have been caught early". Beth was extremely abrupt, not in the slightest bit contrite and took no responsibility. She insisted all dogs are thoroughly inspected after grooming and my dogs nail infection had nothing to do with her services. Clearly, her only concern is making money and not the care and well-being of client's pets. I regret that I joined their expensive club which requires you to have your dog groomed every four weeks as I can't trust that my dog will be cared for properly. read more

Woman at the front desk is rude and pushy. When picking up your dog they require you to make your next appointment way in advance. If you call to cancel they want the know the reason and will give you a hard time. Also, their prices are way over the top. You can not ask for a specific groomer. They do not accept credit cards. I've had multiple great experiences at this groomer and will stay a loyal customer. My dog is a vocal maltipoo and they're endlessly praising and loving toward her. When I pick her up, she's always happy and looks amazing. Recently I moved over an hour away and made the mistake of trying a new groomer. It was such a bad experience I returned to Planet Poodle and will make the commute for their excellent service. My girl is so fluffy when she gets done I can't hug her enough! And the cut is exactly what I ask for every time. But that is actually not the most important thing. First, she hates to be away from me, but she goes in to the groomer with little to no "complaining". She likes the groomer so much I have caught her laying at Jess's feet when I walked in. Which brings me to the second reason I go to Planet Poodle - They do not crate the dogs! My Ellie HATED the crate, which made her hate going to our old groomer. When they are done they just hang out in the groomer's space and wait to be picked up. It's very calming for them and makes my job easier when I have to drop her off. My shih tzu used to be a regular at Planet Poodle and honestly, the hair cuts are awesome. One day my dog came home licking his testicles nonstop. I inspected his body and saw he was burned by the razor. After a vet visit, my dog wore a cone and needed burn cream for a week. I called the company and they explained the mishap away telling me, "some dogs are sensitive and there isn't any way to know if a dog will be injured from the razor". Professionals should know how to avoid injuring a dog as I assume most dog's testicles are sensitive. Planet Poodle never offered to pay my vet bills or give me back the money for his hair cut. The burn my dog received was so server, his skin has permanently changed from pink to black on the sections that were burned. Needless to say, I have not returned. read more

This place gets one star based on the fact that my dog LOOKED ok. First visit I paid $129 (Golden Retriever) which was much more than my previous groomer who moved. Took him back for a second groom talked w the girl who was going to groom him and explained if he had any matting underneath where I can't reach to feel free to shave it. A few hours later I get a text to pick him up with the bill $239! Yes, you read that correctly. I assumed she sent me the bill for someone else (prob with 3 dogs!) as it was over $100 more than my last visit. There is no short way to explain the absolute rudeness of every single person I had to deal with and the idiocy that they seemed annoyed that I was aghast! The receptionist began by telling me the last price of $129 was based on the fact that I was supposed to come every 4-6 weeks. I explained that not once did that come up and if it had, I'd never have returned. I asked to speak to Beth the owner who didn't call me but after much arguing back and forth, authorized them to deduct $60. They also then doubled down and flat out lied and said the groomer I'd spoken to had told me he was in "bad shape" and that it would be extra which nerve took place-never happened. When I went to pick him up the desk lady referred me To a groomer (mgr?) who from behind the wall proceeded to yell at me bc of the "terrible condition" he was in and how much work it took to get him groomed. He said it's because of terrible dog owners like me the dogs are neglected (my dog was a therapy dog at Sloan Kettering and trust me he was never neglected). Finally later Beth called me and admitted their "communication could have been better" and when I mentioned she has no prices listed and to add on any amount much less over $100 was outrageous she went on a tirade about how "I've been in business for over 35 years and I don't need you to tell her how to run a business", anyone these days thinks they can groom a dog but her groomers are all trained and that "groomers are exhausted since Covid bec of pet owners like YOU who don't take care of their animals and drop them to us and expect us to do it". She lambasted me for a good 10-15 mins. I found another lovely groomer nearby. Seriously, the worst business ever in every way possible. read more

It was more expensive then I've ever paid before (about $10 more than the average price). I've never paid more then $60 and have been taking my dogs for years to groomers. Fuck this place. Had an appointment for 1:30 at the Red Bank location. A few hrs later made a phone call to see when he would be ready. They said he wasn't going to be ready until 6:30! How he became the last dog to be groomed is a mystery to me. The whole duration he was there they never bothered to take him out or give him any water. He proceeded to flood the parking lot with his pee and lapped up an entire bowl of water as soon as he got home. Was originally told the price was 80. When he was picked up they decided to up the price to 90 because he hasn't had an appointment in over 6 months. What kind of shit is that? On top of it all the woman was so rude. She saved a piece of matted fur that she cut off from under his ear and said that he needs to be brushed. Isn't that part of your job? It makes me sick to know he spent 4 hours with such shitty people. And they didn't even do a good job on the cut. Never again. read more

I have experienced extremely poor customer service at planet poodle. The woman at the front desk believes she knows everything about dogs and how to raise them and rudely disagrees with you if you do not agree with her. They refuse to take dogs that have anxiety issues and are not afraid to turn away loyal customers. They give the illusions of having a friendly environment, but all that matters at the end of the day is the fat check they receive from their extreme prices, not the dogs. read more
