Absolutely Incredible Excursion--Whales, Dolphins, and Snorkeling!…read more We had an absolutely incredible time on this whale and snorkel excursion! The departure location at Mala Ramp in Lahaina was incredibly easy to find. From start to finish, the staff was both friendly and highly knowledgeable. The boat itself was very comfortable, and because they limit the tour's capacity, the experience never felt crowded and was thoroughly enjoyable. The wildlife we saw was unforgettable--we lucked out and spotted bottlenose dolphins, spinner dolphins, and even a mother and baby humpback whale! We also got to snorkel at two absolutely beautiful stops. They kept us well-fed throughout the day, providing a nice continental breakfast, lunch, and a snack at the end, along with plenty of soda and water. The only downside--which was completely unavoidable--was that crossing the channel on the way back from Lanai to Maui was very choppy. If you have any neck or back issues, I would not suggest this excursion. But if that's not a concern for you, this is an awesome excursion and we thoroughly enjoyed our day trip!

I had never been on a whale watching tour before…read more Being here while the humpback whales were chilling in Maui was an experience I'll never forget. Finding the spot initially was a little confusing, we were the last ones to show up! You are given a number based on when you arrive and you choose a seat on the boat. There is a captain and a naturalist on board who talks about the whales. If you're sitting in the back of the boat, you really can't hear what's being said so sit at the front or in the middle. We circled around and got to see a baby whale breech the water! Such magnificent animals. When a microphone was lowered in the water, we could hear the whales "singing." Did you know it's only the males that do this? The time goes by reallllly fast, so just enjoy being out there.

Never feel like an inconvenience asking by for something...food, drink. Napkin...whatever. Nice sail over, saw lots of dolphins. And the cinnamon rolls and breakfast sandwiches helped pass the time. Snorkel off the beach offered snorkel vest instead of flotation belt to allow free diving. Great spot for sea life. Lunch was exceptional...chicken, noodles, salad, bread, corn, POG and they just kept it coming. Captain said they don't feed you till you are full, they feed you till your jaw is tired from chewing... Serious great time, will sail with them again.

The details: Our tour started by meeting at tree at the Sheraton, which sounds awkward but for us was super convenient and it was fun boarding the sailboat from the beach but you will get a little wet! Captain Michael walks you though the day and then you are off for about ~90 minutes to Lanai. During that time you are served (not a buffet) two meals. The cinnamon rolls were great and the breakfast croissants are now something I make at home. There was also a photographer on board so we took advantage and took some family photos (you buy at the end and I found them a whole lot cheaper and less stress than an actual family shoot). Once you get to the Island you can take a golf cart or take a short walk to the beach where they have all the gear you need. After the safety briefing you have about 2 hours to snorkel with the crew serving as lifeguards in the water. It is VERY easy to lose where you are when you've got your head underwater. I appreciated how attentive the crew was to where the four of us were at since there were a few times we needed some gentle guidance out of a harms way (shoreline rocks). The photographer also captures your snorkel sesh. After snorkeling, you're treated to another full meal of noodles and chicken. Followed by anything you might need for a little seasickness to prep for the journey back . My 12 yo son was pretty full at this point and had befriended the captain who let him help get the boat ready for the return trip. That was very cool! The ride home was a bit bumpy (Hurricane Lowell was coming) but Captain Michael did a great job avoiding anything major and even found a pod of dolphins. We also enjoyed the mai tais! Great experience! We will book more tours in the future. I would have booked another snorkeling or sunset tour during this trip but the water quality really deteriorated with the upcoming storm.

Maui Ocean Adventure - Solid from Bow to Stern…read more Maui Ocean Adventure came through big time. Captain James and First Hand Mindy ran that boat like true ocean pros steady hands, sharp eyes, knowing the water like family. Soon as we cleared the harbor, whales everywhere. Huge humpbacks breaching, tail-slaps rolling across the channel, blowholes firing like steam bursts. And the scenery? Unbeatable. Beautiful, scenic rainbows stretching over the ocean, mountains shining behind us, whole place looking like it was made just for that moment. We cruised through the swells like an old-school whaling crew, everyone along the gunwale waiting for the next giant to rise. Mindy calling out, "Port bow!" and boom another massive tail popping up to say aloha. For the price, the views, the whole vibe worth every cent. Met some good bradas and sistahs on board too, all sharing one awesome day. If you want a real-deal ocean adventure, this is the one. Mahalo

Let me tell you, this was THE BEST $60 I've spent in my life! I can't stop talking about it & sharing the pictures & videos of my experience. Park at the Whaler's village parking lot & make your way to the beach fronting Leilani's restaurant. There you will see blue umbrellas with Blue Maui's logo. Make sure to check in 15 mins before your trip & go to the bathroom before you get on the boat! From the beach you'll get into a small boat which will take you to the medium sized boat. I forced my boyfriend to sit at the front of the boat because I wanted to get the full experience! Let's just say we went out really, really far... For the first 30 mins we say only a few whales from far away, but then things changed! We saw a few boats that were just chilling & decided to join them. The whales were popping up & checking out the other boats. I screamed with excitement so many times. I literally love whales! The whales made their way towards us & I almost died because they were so close. We even got splashed by them with their tail! Make sure you take your GoPro because you're able to stick it in the water! We got amazing videos! The whales were so close & you could even hear them! I'm telling everyone about Blue Maui & how it was such a lifetime experience. Thank you to our guides who did such a great job finding the whales & giving us lots of info. Make sure you wear lots of sunscreen cause we got super burnt! We had a whale of a time & will hopefully island hop back next year to see the whales!
