I chose this company as I wanted to ensure that I had a marine biologist as the tour guide. Was a little disappointed with the tour guide (my husband was able to spot the whales and point them out faster then she was able to) and the promised hydrophone she only tried once which we didn't hear any whales communicating/ "singing" at all. Hence I would have given 4 stars because of this. I was expecting a much better informative tour with the marine biologist. However, in general, she didn't cut short our time and they did speed a long to various areas whenever we saw a spout of water blow up. And, in general, had a great time seeing e humpback whales- we saw one full breach too. I think we may have seen about 20 in January 2026. I heard Cabo is the best place to see the humpback whales and from December through March. I would reccomend the blow up boats as you can get much closer. We were in a small boat with about 8 people but I saw videos of people in the blow up boats that could actually touch the whales if they wanted to. Would have liked this better I think. Also, we forgot our water bottle in the boat afterwards and the company was very customer service oriented in helping us restrict the water bottle. Amazing amazing excursion with Hector and Victoria. Hector, the captain was able to find us 12 different whales to mesmerize over. And we even got to see a baby whale breach the water, WOWZIE WOW, it was definitely a memory never to be forgotten. Our hostess with the mostess, Victoria, speaks a zillion languages. She was able to give us information on the whales in both English and Spanish (she also speaks French and Icelandic). The tour was good, we didn't even need to take photos because Victoria had a giant camera to do it for us. This way, we can really enjoy the natural settings of the Whale habitat. Towards the end of our tour, we were able to see 8 whales swimming together. Victoria said there are 7 are males chasing 1 female to see who would end up 'dating' her, aka - put a baby in her. Mating season was in the air and we got to see that. Best excursion ever! Private small tour. I'm happy to say, they followed sealife protocol and didn't get too close to harm the whales and there were only a few boats out for whale watching. It didn't feel commercial. read more

Forgot to checkin. I got to say that we had a great experience. This was in early December before the prime seasons for whales. Our boat captain did a fantastic job of navigating the waters around the rock formations avoid hazards and other tour boats. We got to see the Arch and other sights then off into the ocean to see whales Our captain and tour guide quickly found a pair of humpback whales just having a grand time of slapping the water with their giant fins and a periodic breaching causing a big splash. We did experience simultaneous leaps. We did go off and find another pair, but those 2 were less entertaining. Kudos to our guide as she shared many facts of the whales based on her extensive experiences in other parts of the globe. Great photo opportunities and a fun time seeing whales, pelicans, sea lions and more . One word of caution... When you are on the docks, be prepared to say no a lot. There are a ton of vendors trying to sell you something every step of the way. This is not a knock of Whale Watch Cabo. This is just the nature of being in Cabo. read more

Had an amazing time with our marine biologist Gisela and the captain Kevin on the Zodiac Adventure tour! It was great to start earlier (8am) than most other boats and to be able to see the Cabo arch without anyone else. The whole tour felt like a private intimate tour and we got to see some humpback whales up close and personal before the other boats got there. This is one of the best things I did in Cabo. I'm not a party person and I like to know about the nature and history of the areas where I vacation. It's amazing to me that just outside of the marina there are humpback whales breaching and breathing and frolicking while all manner of tourists who want to get drunk are whooping it up at bars just miles away. The office of Whale Watch Cabo is easy to find in a small strip mall near the marina with (expensive) souvenirs and a ubiquitous pharmacy or two. You can book online or walk in, although if you're on a tight timeline I suggest scheduling in advance. If I remember correctly there is a small discount for paying cash. You receive a wristband and gather in a group that walks a short distance to the pier to embark the panga. I would highly recommend using the bathroom before you get on the boat. Although there is a tiny, tiny cubbyhole with what is probably a composting toilet, nobody used it (or wanted to!). We met our guide, photographer, and captain, donned our PFDs (which must be worn by law), and set off through the harbor to find some whales. We were extremely lucky to find a humpback calf playfully breaching over and over again as its mom and a companion followed closely behind. Our captain and guide stayed a good distance back to give the whales space and explained that our boat and other boats had to position themselves behind the whales in a sort of semicircle so that the whales always had a clear path and wouldn't get too stressed by being surrounded. I felt Whale Watch did this better than other boats I saw that got too close or too far ahead of the whales in the name of getting a better view. We learned about humpbacks and the Sea of Cortez between sightings. No question went unanswered and our guide was knowledgeable and passionate about whales and the area. We also heard the photographer speak - she took photos to catalog the whales we saw in order to track them for research purposes. The most exciting thing that happened was that we were tracking two huge humpbacks and lost them for a bit - then they resurfaced just 15' to the port side of our boat! I'm not sure how long we were out but it felt like a good amount of time. When we couldn't find anymore whales to watch, we headed over to El Arco and took some photos there. Then we headed back to the marina. Final thoughts: I didn't know what to expect, and what I didn't realize is that there is tons of boat traffic in this area, from gigantic cruise ships to small water taxis. You will always see boats, no matter where you are - and if there is only one set of whales or a single whale in the area, there will be 3-6 boats all in one place, following the whale(s). So don't expect to feel like you're on a whale safari with no one else around. What's also crazy is that the whales are breaching against the backdrop of Cabo's skyline, so your photos will have houses and condos and malls and businesses in the background unless you're pointed away from land. I thought the captain did a fairly good job of maneuvering the boat and there wasn't much chop that day, but there were times that I wondered why he didn't turn into the swells which caused our boat to bob sideways at times - but overall it was okay. It got rough at times, so if you're at all inclined to sea sickness, take something for it beforehand. I don't know why EVERY whale watching boat doesn't have seats that face OUT. We all sat facing each other and had to turn and twist to look behind us to see the whales. A design flaw for sure, but that's just how standard pangas are made. Despite all that, we were able to take some nice photos on our phones (I also recommend a waterproof case and a strap for your phone so you don't lose it when the boat hits a swell) - but the best part was the photos that were sent to our email a day or two later. Whale Watch Baja prides themselves on giving you the photos from your trip at no charge - so we really didn't even have to take pictures ourselves. I'd do this tour again. In fact, sometimes I wish I was 20 again so I could work on a ship and spend all my time out on the water. read more

Awesome experience! We booked the zodiak which is the absolute best way to see the whales. 8:00 am tour only three of us on the boat plus the captain and our guide maria. Huge bonus, maria is a marine biologist from Spain and an expert on whale behavior and just a joy to be around. Brains and beauty. Maria found a pair of humpbacks and were able to stay with them for 90 minutes with them surfacing 4-5 times. Perfect experience and a well deserved 5 stars! read more

One of the best experiences of my life. Huge thanks to our guide Oscar, who was just terrific. Very informative, while also being quick to point out what to look at. We had a treat, as the Humpbacks were on fine form. Love was in the air, as we first saw a pair of copulating turtles. Then we went to a mating pod of Humpback Whales, with two males displaying to impress a female. So many breaches in a short period of time. Afterwards we saw dolphins, sea lions and more Humpbacks... all at once. Because they were playing with each other. Just as we were about to head back, we gave the whales some applause and in response four of them breached together. It was sensational. read more

The best whale watching experience I have had so far. We have done whale watching in Maui, n multiple places in Alaska but never have I had this kind of good experience. The people were very friendly and we had a 18 month old with us. It was super safe for her and the company was very accommodating. The naturalist on our boat was very friendly and gave loads of good information. Also cabo has a very fun whale population. They come super close to the boat and we got to see a lot tail slapping and an almost breaching . It was an amazing experience. What set these guys apart was that the naturalist clicked a lot of very professional pictures of the ehale sightings and sent it out to us after the trip. I highly recommend this company read more

The whales were beautiful and larger than I could ever imagine. The way they navigated around me was borderline spiritual. The only disappointment was that it ended so soon. The reviews here do not lie, the experience and wealth of knowledge Whale Watch Cabo provides is top notch. When you have marine biologists running the show, you know are in the right hands. Because we have young children, we were in one of the 32 ft. Panga boats which seated 12 very comfortably. It is equipped with an emergency bathroom and they do provide small bottles of water. The day we went out it was a bit choppy and I do recommend taking the dramamine they offer in the office for free. We had at least 15-20 humpback sightings as well as couple of dolphins and other marine life. Prior to the actual whale watch experience the captain took the time to show us some of the beautiful rock formations and scenery as well as lovers (and divorce) beach. We also took advantage of the 15% discount by paying in cash. We saw many boats of similar size whale watching and compared to other companies, Whale Watch Cabo appeared to have a much higher quality fleet of boats. read more

This is a premium-priced place, and overall it was very positive. Saw a LOT of whales jumping out the water up close, the boat also went by the popular Cabo arch, and staff were friendly. We had two little ones, and the ride out to the whales was very choppy, loud (engine), and cold with water spray in February (be ready to keep them warm). I think this is a function of a relatively small boat needed to travel at speed. That said, I didn't see any large boats out there doing whale watching up close - we only saw other similar small size boats...maybe the whales don't like big boats and this is just how it is with the small ones. So except for periods where the boat had to cover lots of ground, it was great to see the whales & hear the explanations by the staff. Glad we went. read more

There is no question that this whale watching tour was one of the most inspiring things I have ever done for two reasons: The first is that Maria, the biologist who guided our trip, is both incredibly knowledgeable about the humpback whales but also passionate about their very important role in the larger ecosystem. She is a true educator and I was captivated by her narration during the entire 2.5 hours. The second reason the trip was such a standout is that the captain, Alfonso, found and trailed several whales as soon as we hit open water. In Cabo just at the start of whale season. This company had the best reviews and it makes sense. We did the early morning tour, there were 7 on the boat, plus the captain and two guides. Other boats on the water were packed. It was nice that we had room to move around. The 2 guides were very friendly and knowledgeable. Captain did a great job getting in position to see th whales. We arrived at Whale Watch Cabo with the hopes of seeing some sea life! From check in to getting off the boat at the end of the tour, it was 5 star!!! We were lucky to have Diego as our guide and Big Dog as our captain. After touring Lovers Beach and Lands End, we headed to find whales. Wow....we had an amazing show for 2 hours with a mama and a baby whale, that was both jaw dropping to watch and so educational. Diego is passionate about the whales, and Big Dog knew when the whales were going to jump, and was as excited as the passengers. Diego took many great photos and they were emailed to us within 2 days. We were expecting maybe 10, but received over 200!!!! I cannot say enough good things about Diego, his expertise, passion, excitement and knowledge were just outstanding. I wish everyone could experience what we did, it was AMAZING!!! read more

We went on a Whale Watch Cabo excursion on 12/20/17 and we had a GREAT time. We went with the whole family in town including my dad, my father and mother-in-law, and my four year old. The hotel kept trying to direct us towards other companies (that seemed a little more focused on offering drinks and buffets with a side of whale watching), but we really wanted to book with Whale Watch Cabo because of the yelp reviews we read and I am SO GLAD we did. I think the single greatest advantage to booking with Whale Watch Cabo is that the guide is a marine biologist (in our case, Nacho!) with an extensive amount of knowledge about marine animals. It was so fun to have 2.5 hours to ask anything and everything under the sun about whales and other marine life. We saw several humpback whales and got pretty close to them as well. We went with this company last season, and came back again this season. They are very well organized and we highly recommend them. We contacted them via email up before booking and received a very prompt reply answering all our questions. The booking process is very easy online, you just leave your cc info and they even offer a discount when paying in cash. Their guides are very friendly and knowledgeable. We didn't feel like just a number, very personal tour. We saw some other boats out there that were packed, but Whale Watch Cabo limits the number of people to just 10 adults, so we had plenty of room to move around the boat. We learned a lot and were lucky enough to see a humpback whale breach several times. It even came up close to the boat as it was curious to see us. They do not drive the boat close to the whales, they respect the rules and when several other boats showed up to 'our' whales, the guide told us it was time to leave as the whales seemed like the boats bothered them. Very happy we did as we found a mother and a baby without any other boats! Another cool thing is that the guide takes photos, lots of them, which they send to you for free! We had over 100 photos, all amazing, couldn't have gotten that with our small camera and this way we could just enjoy the whales. Outstanding trip. Albert was our guide and he was a wealth of knowledge on the whales we were watching. Amazingly, although we were at the end of the season, we saw 8-10 whales, including a mom and a baby. We even got a tour of The Arch, Lover's Beach, the nearby sea lion colony, etc. included! For two people, the price was $178 USD; since we paid with cash, we got a 20% discount (down to $142 USD). Additionally, going at 2:45pm on a Sunday meant a far smaller group (4 total, including us); given that private tours start around $400 USD, we felt very fortunate. I'd highly recommend this company and Albert, in particular (although, given that they are all marine biologists, I'm sure they are equally good). For what it's worth, we felt that this experience was the best whale watching excursion we could have had (most other whale watching excursions appeared to be (a) packed to the gills with people, (b) "booze cruise" ventures whose loud music clashed with the ability to see whales, and (c) rather scary looking rusted boats who flouted the proximity-to-the-wildlife rules). read more

Oh my goodness where do I start! This was the best of any of the excursions that we booked. Peter- a marine biologist, I think, and Paulette our guide with her Masters in oceanography, along with our Zodiac driver were so knowledgeable in all aspects of the whales, sea turtles, dolphins, and sea lions along with every bird that flew within sight that trip! The two and a half hour tour was packed to the gills with information and I am so grateful for having the luck to happen upon this tour. We paid a little more compared to other companies, but the experience was certainly worth every penny...and more! All the pictures were included and emailed to us by the end of the day!! We saw seven whales, dozens of sea lions, dozens of dolphins, and a sweet solo sea turtle that stuck around long enough for us to enjoy. read more

Booked the day before our trip with a phone call. No issues, they were professional and the cash discount was nice. We were very lucky and saw a ton of whales that day. The on board biologist was very sweet and informative. The seas were rough but it was still a great trip. We were in a fiberglass roughly 30 foot boat and it there was plenty of room for the 8 of us customers, glad ti was not fully booked with 12 as I would not have been able to move around and get the best pictures. I was torn to book with them or a larger boat that has bathrooms and serves drinks and you can walk around and stretch some but was happy with my decision but boy everyone rushed to the restroom the second we returned. I was happy with them but the bigger boats seemed to get around just as well as us with the same great views of the whales so I might lean towards another outfit next time for that reason but no complaints and had a great trip. read more

We had an amazing whale watching trip on Christmas Day with Guide Mireya and Captain Alberto. We must have seen a couple of dozen humpbacks breaching whereas we were hoping for at least one. The captain was in good contact with other boat operators and they would share sighting info which certainly facilitates the process. The tour also includes a stop at the lovely Cabo arches which is another great photo op. This tour has a 15% cash discount and includes photos the guide takes with a professional-grade camera. Other tour operators may charge extra for photos so something to keep in mind. read more

The the communication via Facebook for wind holds and sighting also superb (note: our tour was not affected by any wind, but some on our tour were on their second trip, as the first was cxl'd due to wind - they said it was a great process for communication). The office staff was incredibly kind. Parking was in a paid lot (voucher for some time, paid a small amount for remainder of time) right in front. Safe and convenient. The captain of the boat was friendly and completely trustworthy. A the guide... Paola (hope I spelled that correctly) was so a marine biologist and was so informed. We were recommended to this company due to the fact they are the only whale watching only dedicated company as well as always having a marine biologist on board. They care for the whales, and to educate those on board the tour. A bonus was a quick tour of the bay and seeing the arch and sea lions.
