I had an extremely disappointing experience with WeVeganEats' online business (weveganeats.com). I ordered cookies, and they were completely inedible. I'm not exaggerating when I say they tasted like soap, were incredibly dry, and had no real cookie flavor at all. I ended up throwing away a $44 order because they were that bad. What's even more frustrating is the company's lack of response. I contacted them twice to request a refund and have not heard anything back. Since I have not received anything I looked to what others had to say on Facebook, and a couple other people have been waiting a long time as well. On a recent trip to Tampa we ordered WeVegan several times, couldn't get enough! I don't particularly enjoy sweet drinks but I had three toasted marshmallow lattes because they were that good. The Big Mac Crunchwrap is genuinely one of the best vegan items I've had at a restaurant after being for 10 years, it was exceptional. I love the vibe of this little vegan cafe. The pastries look so delicious and the books and merch is so cute I wanted to buy everything. I came here to try a vegan Cuban because I've been craving an authentic cuban but I don't eat pork - so I figured a vegan Cuban is the next best thing. The bread was fantastic and tho I wasn't the biggest fan of the vegan meat used - I still enjoyed the sandwich! My partner got the Crunchwrap...I tasted that & it was amazing. I had a good experience trying WeVegan Cafe while on the hunt for some tasty baked treats. They offer a nice variety of vegan food/drinks. The day I visited their cinnamon rolls were buy one get one free so I got those along with their strawberry pop-tart bomb. Customer service was great and I got everything packaged up to go quickly. The overall taste was good, but nothing spectacular. I really appreciate that places like this exist especially since some people in my life have to avoid certain foods. I came here 2 days in a row and had 2 different experiences. My experience day 1 was incredible. The service was great, including the owner, and the food was delicious. We tried the breakfast Crunchwrap, Big Mac Crunchwrap, Philly empanada, and immuni-tea with oat milk. The next day we ordered for pickup and the Philly empanadas didn't taste the same. It also wasn't clear that the spaghetti and rice weren't going to be "hot and ready to eat". The server the 2nd day wasn't as pleasant either. Came in for a Tuesday computer day and got my usual order at a coffeeshop: cold brew with cold foam. This one happened to be a vegan cold foam, made from oat cold foam cream. As cute as this place was, I have to be honest about my judgements. The cold brew tasted sour. The cold foam was very good in the first few sips, but within a few minutes, the foam curdles in the acidic coffee. I recognize it was vegan so the structure I'm sure is less stable, but my main disappointment was coffee itself. It was either old or under extracted. They also have wifi, but it never worked for me. I worked around this by using the Spectrum Free trial in 30 minute increments. Kinda a hassle but I made the best of it. I would come back to try some of the desserts tho, but as far as coffee and wifi purposes, I can't recommend :(. The hardest decision you'll have to make at WeVegan is what sweet treat to get! I usually try to stick to just one, but no judgment here if you leave with a bag full. The hours are a little tough here, closing by 4 p.m. most days, but if I'm down in south Tampa at lunchtime, I always make the stop at WeVegan. It's non-negotiable. Today, I tried the vegan Cuban, and it shouldn't surprise me that a place where I once saw competing shirts about Tampa natives calling themselves Tampanian or Tampeño (I guess those of us born in Tampa in the 80s who called ourselves Tampons wouldn't put that on a shirt ), the vegan Cuban sandwich is made as close to the authentic construction as possible. I've had better veggie Cubans elsewhere (as I prefer the blasphemy of plantains and fresh salad veggies in my veg-friendly Cubans), but for a vegan version that tries to feel like the OG, WeVegan takes the lead. I would recommend their other offerings like the Crunchwrap and the breakfast burrito over the Cuban though, unless you're really craving those Cuban sandwich vibes. But really, the sweets and the lattes are where it's at here. You could pick literally anything from their case and you won't be disappointed. And their friendly staff and easy parking make this an enjoyable, easy stop when you're in the area. read more

I hate to leave a poor review for a locally owned vegan business but this was just not a good quality meal. We decided to try something new so we drove out to Wevegan cafe in Tampa for brunch. My daughter ordered a chicken n waffle sandwich. It was a morning star chicken party between 2 dry frozen waffles, tasted like Vans.... There was a side of hashbrown and what tasted like sweet chili sauce from a Thai restaurant. I had their breakfast wrap. It was Just egg with uncooked vegan bacon and some hash-browns, no cheese or sauce on it. Nothing was original and everything was frozen food barely heated up. It was almost $30 no drinks or anything else!!! We wanted to try something new but left disappointed. They were really busy because there was a Pop up going on... other than that I'm not sure how the ambiance usually is. Friendly enough staff, man at the register didn't greet us when we walked up. I ordered the November Sampler which included: a spiced chai latte cookie with chai frosting, a brownie with a layer of chocolate frosting, a sweet potato casserole cookie, a salted caramel walnut cookie, a cranberry crisp and white chocolate cookie, and an apple cider cookie with maple icing. They all sound amazing right? They looked amazing! The box was $29, S&H to Maine was $9, so it was $38 total. Currently, their orders are shipped out within 3 to 7 business days. The cookies I received were not nearly as attractive as the ones I thought I was buying off Instagram. Minus the brownie, they were all kind of the same color, they all had way less ingredients (for example, the sweet potato casserole cookie had literally one mini marshmallow in it; we couldn't even identify what the cranberry crisp cookie was), and they all kind of tasted the same (there was no maple flavor whatsoever on the apple cider cookie). Including the brownie, everything was dry, dry, dry. The only one we ate entirely was the salted caramel walnut "turtle" cookie - which had no caramel flavor; we thought it was just a salty chocolate chip cookie with nuts. When WeVegan announced they were opening a cafe, it was on my bucket list to visit. WeVegan Cafe is another, in a long and growing longer line, of great vegan establishments in Tampa. They do a lot of baked goods, coffee and brunch items but have some lunch time and late afternoon foods as well. The menu is a combination of staples and weekly/daily specials. The weekend I visited they were offering a special sandwich called the EMO (egg, meat, onion) on a Jamison B Breadhouse roll. I ordered one of those. I also grabbed an apple pastry. Both were very good and not nearly as expensive as I assumed they'd be. I was a fan! WeVegan emphasizes local. The decorations and art in the cafe was largely Tampa influenced. They use local breads and products when possible and they were hosting a local market in their parking lot the day I stopped by. The EMO sandwich itself was an ode to the EMO Night Tampa radio crew who, along with Eastlick Coffee, did a "bar" takeover of the cafe. It's Lent again, so that means exploring more of the vegan/vegetarian/pescatarian restaurants on my bookmarked list. This morning, it was Wevegan Cafe, a vegan cafe on Manhattan. The cafe is new-ish and very clean and modern looking. I ordered a breakfast hand pie and also a flat white. I was given the option of warm or cold. Having never heard of a cold flat white, I went with that option. I'm not sure how it's different from a cold brew topped with milk, but it was very tasty. The hand pie was excellent. I'm not sure what goes into making a vegan sausage, egg and cheese hand pie, but I really couldn't tell it wasn't the real thing. The sausage was on the sage-y side, but the cheddar was spot-on, and the textures were really good too. The flaky pastry was almost buttery. Honestly, what I had here was good enough that I'd come here even when not diet-restricted. Prices are pretty similar to any other cafe in South Tampa. Lots of parking in the mini mall. read more

I was visiting Tampa for a day, and this place popped up when I was looking for vegan cafes and restaurants. I've actually ordered cookie boxes from them online, so I was excited to finally get to visit their storefront in person! I tried the seasonal Frankenstein cookie and the Tampa bay creamsicle cookie (total was $6.45 for 2 cookies). The Frankenstein was really nice warmed up (did it at home), but it was still very clean to eat because the chocolate bits didn't melt at all. They were still soft which I'm fine with, but if you like the chocolate more melty, go for something else. The creamsicle cookie was good too! There's something about walking into a local Tampa bakery and seeing a Buccaneers-themed cookie that really gets you excited. I love when businesses incorporate local sports teams into their product or location, so naturally the Tampa Bay Creamsicle Cookie was the first one I tried. It's been well over a year since my first time eating that cookie and it's still almost impossible to get me to leave WeVegan without getting one. The cookie bombs are also to die for: my personal favorite being the strawberry lemon because it is so soft, despite having harder cookies inside. Imagine a flavored cookie filled with Oreos. Yeah, it's mouthwatering. I prefer the cookies to the other baked goods myself, but nothing I've tried has made me feel like WeVegan deserves anything less than 5 stars. At first bite it had a slight bad odor and it was completely tasteless. It didn't get any better. The eggroll was mushy and tasteless as well. I was extremely disappointed and now I know to avoid WeVegan Cafe except for their muffins. Had I eaten at the restaurant instead of having it delivered, I would have asked for my money back for the burrito and eggroll. In my first visit to this establishment I was quite excited to meet the owners and support them in their new venture. I have ordered their Oreo cookie bombs before and noted the quality and freshness that their bakery items offer. Today, I had a pressed Cuban sandwich which was completely vegan and was absolutely delicious. I am a very picky sandwich person so when I say I could not it was Vegan, I do mean it. They added a shot of espresso to her chai latte per request via special note as the add a shot feature wasn't available for that drink on the UberEats app. They even went as far to decorate her to go bag with Happy Birthday messages to make it even more special! 10/10 recommend WeVeganCafe for your baked goodie needs! My experience is through online ordering. It takes forever for them to package and ship your order and they they're terribly slow with communication, if they even respond. You'd think there would be a rush on perishable items that don't have preservatives. They advertise online trying to get customers and offer free delivery. Don't fall for it. Their service is not so great. And after reading the moldy food review, I'm even more worried now! I love vegan food establishments, but when they don't seem to prioritize their customers and have poor quality control, they can go bankrupt for all I care. Update 12/20/2023 My order finally arrived. A little timeline of events here: Order placed on 12/5/2023. Received order shipped email on 12/11/2023. Order arrived 12/20/2023. I between that time, I never got a response to my emails. The cookies appear to be packaged well and insulated. Each cookie was wrapped in cling film. They all appear to look good with no signs of discoloration or mold (thank goodness!). Most still felt soft except for the ube cookie which didn't taste all that great either. They lay the icing on thick! It is so sweet. Too sweet. The sweetness is overwhelming. I had the ube, double chocolate chunk cookie, coquito, and strawberry cookie cream sandwich. The coquito and strawberry come with the icing. You'd get a sugar rush headache. The double chocolate is soft but crumbly and on the bitter side of bittersweet, and doesn't have enough chunks for sure. The coquito tasted the best, but the icing is also really sweet. I don't think I would order again. The cookies are just okay, they didn't astound me, and customer service was nonexistent, and it took a long time- 15 days from order to delivery. I'll stick with local vegan cookies from now on. Also, it came with a storage and reheating sheet with cookie type and ingredients panel. And a best by date. My sheet said best by Nov 23, 2023 and it's December 20, 2023. Even if it was meant to say 12/23, that's only three days out. Update 12/28/23: I ended up throwing everything in the garbage because it's not worth the hype. They weren't very good. If they were, they wouldn't have sat on my counter untouched after delivery and I would have shared them at the holiday parties.
