I usually bring a pizza or a ham and cheese pretzel pocket to go and they reheat in the oven very well. The pretzel dough has a hint of sweetness and its very soft and chewy with a crispy crust. Not overly salty too. I prefer it over Auntie Ann's and wish there was a storefront in the Chicago suburbs. The service here is always with a friendly smile. I've met the owner a few times, and she is always pleasant to speak with. The price is within reason for the amount of food you get. Great place to come with friends for a quick bite.

So I ordered the daily special that was Jägerschnitzel (hunter's schnizel/breaded pork tenderloin with a mushroom gravy or sauce) and for an appetizer I ordered jalapeño poppers along with the authentic German goulash soup and pumpernickel bread were very good. The Jägerschnitzel sauce that is a mushroom sauce was a little unique but very good. I especially liked the spatzle noodles and the red cabbage (rotkohl) and it's just like I would get in Germany so I loved both side dishes a lot. Cool, old-timey feel to the restaurant and the service is impeccable as well. I left full and was sorry I didn't have room for the strudel they make in house, maybe next time!

My best friend got a kit to make them at home and you get a free jumbo pretzel when you do that. You can also earn free pretzels through their phone app, which will come in handy for a pretzel lover like me. They were handling to covid regulations pretty well, even for a semi small place. I really enjoyed my pretzel, which I didn't even need dipping sauce for. My best friend enjoyed hers which I was happy about because she said she had never been to a Ben's Pretzels before.
