On top of being a VERY good groomer, this woman is peak customer service. My dog is a very anxious little pup who shakes when we go anywhere. The owner personally grooms her so she was able to get more comfortable by going to the same face. I've had times where she let me drop my dog off before open because we couldn't fit her times around my schedule. When I was out of work for 4 months, the owner not only refused to accept any tips, she groomed my dog for like half price if that just so I could afford it. She's really such a nice person that I enjoy chatting with on groom days. I do not care if I move across town, I will be traveling to her to bring my pets as long as she is still open.

Milo has been with the previous owners (wet your whiskers) for about 4 years. The business was sold…read moreand this week was my first appt with them, as Milo's groomer Sue is no longer there. I was skeptical about using a different groomer as Milo has only had 2 groomers his entire life, I drop Milo off and was greeted by one of the owners, he was welcoming and greeted me right away, the other lady at the desk didn't even smile, not very comforting at all. I was told previously that all Milo's records would remain in his chart including the details of his grooms, I was asked at drop off if there was anything special I wanted for today, I advised to do just his normal cut, nothing else was asked. Typically Sue would come out talk to me and take Milo back but with new ownership the owner took him back, I asked via the app several times who his groomer was and didn't find out until 2 days after his cut. After receiving a text that Milo was ready he was picked up, I was sent a picture of his cut and I had to take a double take, he was completely shaved! Never in his 6 years of life has he ever been shaved so low, I was shocked, even questioned if he was even my dog. I messaged the company very nicely and asked if the groomer ran into complications that I was not aware of and that's when I was told "he was matted all over" and the next sentence was "we were under the impression you wanted a fresh summer look since his last groom was February", (which was it?) again Milo has never been shaved that low his entire life, Sue always praised me on how amazing Milo's coat was. Also, Milo had to be taken to his previous groomer in April due to a scheduling conflict with wet your whiskers and his last groom was not February, but goes to show that they do have Milo's records from the previous owner and would see his previous groomers notes. At that time I asked again who was his groomer, as I was so I didn't book with that groomer again, this was my second time requesting that information. I was not informed of who it was until this morning. I made a review on Facebook and the owners responding on their personal Facebook page insinuating I was bashing their family and company. That was not my intention nor purpose of my post, I was posting my experience. We are entitled to our review so others are aware and decide how to proceed. Even if Milo would have been "matted all over" a simple message would have been nice, not me reaching out to see what happened! Granted Milo did need a spa day, he was due, but that is typical for him, and not once has he ever needed to be completely shaved. His hair will grow back, I know this, I just wish communication was better. I have attached pictures of his past grooms with Sue and his most recent one with a different groomer at Suds n biscuits. I do not have any pictures prior to his most recent groom but I will say his hair was longer as a mentioned before and he was due for a cut. My main concern is, communication is key, if he was matted give the owners a heads up if your doing such a drastic change, send pictures through the portal of the findings, also don't give two different reasons as to why he was shaved! Milo's poor eyes don't even look cleaned and his feet weren't even trimmed correctly.

They took time to get to know our dog and while she had anxiety about getting groomed, she would wag her tail and be very excited to see the owners, because they took time to establish a relationship with her. We really appreciated their thoughtful care and intentional communication. The new ownership experience was sadly very disappointing from a customer interaction standpoint. When we entered the salon, she asked our dog's name but did not introduce herself. She gave a brief overview of some changes such as new natural shampoos and gave a ballpark timeline of when to pick up our dog. She also asked if there were any skin conditions such as cysts, lumped or warts which I appreciated. At this time, I expressed that it was often an issue for my dog to get her nails trimmed and that previously we would come in and help hold the dog so that her nails could get trimmed safely and offered to do this during this first grooming appointment which she declined. We received a text saying "she is all set" , and came to get our pet. The first thing that was said as I entered the salon was not a greeting, or preface on how the grooming went, but rather an explanation on how the groomer won't work with difficult dogs and has had injuries from difficult dogs when grooming. And then immediately recommended we find another groomer better fit to groom our dog. This was a very confusing and disappointing way to hear how the appointment went as there was no context as to why she was saying this until she finally expressed she felt my dog was too anxious to be groomed safely or appropriately. Again, we have been coming to Shaggy Chic for 12 years and the only concerns ever expressed and addressed with our help, were our dog's struggle to clip nails, so this felt like an abrupt first interaction. While explaining how the appointment went, they stated they did the best they could with our dog's cut. They explained how they used restraints as needed, and couldn't fully trim her face ,however when we got home, I finished trimming her face but also found that she wasn't properly or fully bathed as she had tear stains still matted on her face, her glands were not emptied, and she had fecal matter caked under her tail. It was never expressed in our interaction that bathing was a safety concern or that they weren't able to complete her bath, which was also disappointing to see the lack of detail with her bathing. I agree and support the need for both the animal and groomer to feel safe in this type of environment. However, the lack of communication was really disappointing after having been with Shaggy Chic for 12 years and working together with both previous owners, to successfully groom our dog in a caring environment. There was no attempt to call or text during the appointment to communicate that the grooming appointment was challenging, or a request for one of us to come and help, which we had offered at the beginning of the appointment, nor was there any context when we arrived to pick up our dog as to what went wrong or what attempts they made to connect and calm our dog down. One of the groomers did offer to try one more time if our pet was given anxiety medication but they also expressed they weren't sure if that was enough to help. Overall, we were really disappointed with the communication, quality of service, and care shown to our dog. While I respect the groomers option to determine which clients they want to work with, we were able to work through a prior ownership change without issue while still maintaining a high level of care for our dog, and a great relationship. This was a disappointing way to leave a small business we have loved supporting and have trusted with our family pet for the last 12 years

Today, there were, I believe 4 groomers and at least 8 dogs. Those that werent already on a table or in the tub were loose to run around the shop. That concerned me. One little guy was barking and snarling at B as soon as she was taken back. Bella tried to get away but couldnt. She ran back to me but there was a half wall between us with a latched door. The little dog settled down after one of the groomers yelled at it to 'shut the fu$k up!' Against my better judgement, I left. Made it to my car that was parked in the back lot and heard Bella yelping and screaming- she was terrified! Ran to the back of the shop where they had a door propped open. Again, this same groomer (not Jo) yelled at that same little dog to STFU. She grabbed it and told me, ' its ok, this one just barks at everyone.' I asked Jo if I could take B until she was actually ready for her. She said she was going in the tub then. I turned to go back to my car and the stfu groomer yelled at me that I shouldve made my appointment for another day and she didnt appreciate my attitude. What attitude? I didnt even speak to her! When B was done, I got her, paid, and told Jo we wouldnt be back. Explained that if they knew that dog was reactive, it shouldve been under control, not left loose to scare other dogs. It was irresponsible and caused fear and anxiety in my dog. (B was a mess, she still hasnt made up to me and its an hour later.) Also told Jo that no customer deserves to be spoken to the way stfu groomer spoke to me. Jo apologized. But as I was leaving, stfu groomer wanted to know what I said to Jo and she told her we wouldnt be back. Guess what stfu groomer said loud enough that I heard her from my car? "Well fu$k her!" How professional... Jo is a good groomer but her employees are awful and stfu groomer should find another job, she should not be grooming animals or interacting with customers.
