I had just moved from Arizona where we don't have fleas, moved into a house that was infested. She knew we were new to the area and offer to get my large English mastiff all cleaned up and flea free for trading me a few hours of work cleaning the shop. Which I quickly accepted because it was so generous and I knew I would enjoy her and her kind treatment of animals. She also let myself, my husband and 8 year old daughter hang out at her grooming shop in the kid lounge while we bombed the place to rid it of fleas ( at my new home) for over 3 hours. We developed a deep friendship and over the years since 08' she still checks in on me and my many animals. Now that I am back in Arizona. Did I mention we got along so well, loved animals both so much she gave me a full time job and appreciship She gave more than fair pay. She treated every animal with gentle love and respect. If she accidentally nicked an animal the owner was notified if not by phone then when then came in; and 9 times out of 10 it was the animal being difficult and giving a serious fight to be groomed usually due to major matting (which causes pets pain like gum stuck to your scalp. Very rarely did a nail get cut to short or a paw miss being trimmed. She was always extremely fair with cost and worked with people who were having hard time. She thought so much of me so much so that with a bit more study and practice at the local animal shelter. I was able to become a full time groomer once I move back to Arizona. Jamie not only helps animals she helps people. She goes above and beyond for people in situation out of their control. She is honest to a "t" She adore dogs and I have seen on a number of occasions with her pet education, she never diagnosis but she does quickly tell the owner when something is not quite right with a pup and advices them to a vet. She has actually saved a few animals life by being aware and paying attention to the little details she picks up between grooming visit. I know her shop has move three time each time getting bigger and better. She is always improving and learning. I know this is being written from multiple perceptions. Customer, friend, co worker, student and finally fellow groomer. I can with out a doubt in my mind hoestly say Jamie in all the years I was actively in her shop she never harmed an animal out of anger or malice. Maybe a slight nick with the clipper but no one is perfect and dogs do put up a fight sometimes. Have you ever tried to shave a 20 lb bouncing ball of energy that wants to bit you and the clipper. Along with try to keep a schedule. It is not possible to be perfect and the few slip up were alway minor and an offer to the vet was offered at cost by the shop, no one ever took her up on it because it was so small like a lightly grazed paper cut. As for the fleas. We never had fleas at the shop. If she got a flea dog in, it was separated, mandatory treated with high quilty pest control wash Then at the end of the day everything was scrubs and treatment was set off( shop of course was completely empty) to kill any pests that may have survived the deep cleaning. I could go on futher about all the wonderful thing about Jamie and her love for pet and her complete devotion to maintaining a clean, safe places for pets and people a like. If I had to say Jamie does anything wrong it's she won't say no. At home with family...dog needs hair cut bad she will meet you in 20 minutes. It's a holiday your pup got shunked she will be there after the turkey pulls out of the oven.. You can't ask for a more dedicated and hard working advocate for your pet. So please remember when you read the few 1 star reviews. They probably had fleas and the dog got reinvested because they didn't do as Jamie instructs with great detail. If a pup was nicked it probably was extremely difficult to control or matted it hurt a bit due to lack of regular grooming and got a small nick because when hair is glues to skin things happen. I am proud of everything I learned from Jamie and her alway patient approach to instruction. You should definitely give her a chance and learn first hand you couldn'twish for a better groomer in the York area who will almost always fit ypu into the schedule same day or darn close to it. She is amazing and worth every penny because your pets are safe and love while under her care!
