I would say a nice decent spot to rent SUP boards, among other things they have. They rent by the hour(s), half day, whole day. Staff was also very nice. The only thing I recommend is to replace their PFDs since they look very worn out even though if still functional and maybe have ankle straps available. Yeah, u might not need ankle straps when paddling in flat waters (or semi choppy/flat waters), but one of these days I do plan to rent a SUP for not just an hour, or 2, but a whole day to explore around the island (I'm a hardcore adventurer and endurance athlete)...something is telling me safe to have an ankle strap since never know if water conditions change or I get knocked off during my adventure. But overall, good place.

Lovers Cove is a great place to snorkel.

We had a great time while visiting Catalina island and enjoyed snorkeling at lovers Cove which is right next door to Wet Spot rentals. You will be guaranteed to see an abundance of fish and sea life. Wet Spot Rentals offers very competitive prices for renting kayak, standup paddle boards, and snorkeling gear including wetsuits. The service was excellent and the rental gear worked just fine for us. Mike was very friendly and took good care of us and we sure appreciate it

It's the first rental place you see when you land on Avalon. The prices are the most affordable which is really great. The offer snorkel, kayak, and stand up paddle rentals. I really wanted to go snorkeling while visiting carat and they offer a snorkel, mask, and fins for $10/hour and the second hour is free. You walk about five minutes until you reach the wooden steps to Lovers Cove and head for the rocky shore. Be extremely careful when you're walking towards the water because the current can sweep you away. I wanna give this place 5 stars but my snorkel and mask were falling apart while my fiancées was all honky dory.

A great place with the best customer service. My friends and I went to Catalina for snorkeling. Michelle made that experience even better for us. Thank you for your kindness and patience Michelle :)

This is a no brainer. In addition to the Kayaks and snorkeling rental equipment they have here, with their own dock thing, you must take a guided day trip to the other side of the island with owner Mike Upton. My wife and I did and it was perfect; desolate unspoiled beaches just 26 miles from Los Angeles. You can't believe it. Turquoise water, solitude, the whole thing. You need a permit to use the roads to get to this place but Mike has one. He's also got a vehicle, which is hard to get on this island. He's also a 3rd generation islander and he really knows every inch of this island. It's been his back yard for 54 years! It's kind of like the wild west on Catalina in many ways and a trip with Mike really is like going back in time. This is is not an eco-tour (although you will see and learn about Bison and many other animals, and plants too). This is a tour of what locals do on their days off, and they're all kind of crazy so be prepared for a lot of fun. It's how they get there and how they do it, Catalina style. You can't beat it. It's worth building your visit around. In just one trip to Little Harbor on the uninhabited side of Catalina we saw a huge amount of Bison and other wildlife (some very up close), learned all kinds of stuff about what it was like to grow up on this island in another era, and we even did some crazy stuff that I'm not going to put down in writing. You just gotta take the tour. We brought our stand up paddle boards, but Mike's got kayaks for you and boogie boards, beach chairs, umbrellas, and a great lunch, and maybe a few beers if you're good. If you live in L.A. and haven't been to Catalina lately, shame on you. It's beautiful, reasonable, safe, friendly and so close! I hadn't been in decades and the best advice I got before I booked my room was "don't worry about where you're going to stay. Just book a room. They're all good." We took the Catalina Express and in about an hour we were there. you can walk to any hotel from the landing but they also have plenty of cabs. Most people travel by golf cart here but we never needed anything but shank's pony (look that one up). So that means that in two hours, you could be at an exotic empty beach with turquoise water drinking a beer under an umbrella. I've already reserved my room for the next 4th of July weekend but I also plan to come back several times before then. It was too much fun. Mike is also the guy I would go to if you are interested in filming locations and stuff like that on the island. He knows everybody. www.catalinakayaks.com

Great rental experience! I booked snorkel rentals online and pickup was a breeze. Service was also very friendly.

One of the most important things to do while traveling to Catalina for the day or for a couple of weeks is to set up a "base-camp" on the beach. It allows you to dip your toes in the water, sit in the sand under an umbrella or float in the water. If you bring your own umbrella, The Beach Stand charges a small $4.00 fee to secure your umbrella in the sand. Well worth utilizing this service as well. This place is also ideal for people who are on cruise ships! The Beach Stand is located at the base of the pier and promises a friendly experience. This family run business has been on the island for well-over 50 years and Karen Hall, along with her staff are always committed to make sure their customers are taken care of so they enjoy their visit on the island. It's been a pleasure doing business with you and thank you for spoiling us with amazing base-camps while we are visiting the island.

We had our comfortable beach chairs, umbrella and most important, the tubes! Before we went to went to The Beach Stand the kids were having fun but for some reason once they got their tubes they started having a great time! I highly recommend renting from The Beach Stand. The staff is wonderful and the prices are fair and they will even place your umbrella in the sand for you and they have this special way of securing the pole so you don't have to worry about it being blown away if the wind. I highly recommend The Beach Stand. It is so easy, everyone has fun and it sure beats lugging everything from the mainland!

There is also a "Circuit" ride share that will take you around the island for $2 per person. Coming in by tender from a cruise ship is great. The docking area is in town and so close to everything. I exited the tender and walked along the waterfront where I passed a few children's playgrounds with a pirate theme. Then on to where the golf carts are rented. I walked to the pier (Green Pier) where there are bathrooms and many small shops all hoping for the tourist business. They carry the typical port souvenirs. After a long walk on this short pier I got to the end where there is many people fishing with poles and the little set ups they will sell you for a few dollars and the bait too. There are plenty of benches to sit and watch the boat come in and out of the harbour. There is a small beach area that has lots of pretty colored little rocks along the shoreline. The walk to the round Casino Building is pretty much the end of the road before a mountainside resort. I passed by some waterfront restaurants that were even crowded on a cloudy day. My walk back to the tender was quick and the ride back to the cruise ship was also pretty nice and calm.

We booked a tour once to see bisons but didn't get to see animals cause it was raining. The tours we went by ourselves were much better! We saw many wild animals including bisons! The interior vineyard is so beautiful. The trips were very enjoyable but a bit of too much sun for me. Wear sunscreen and a hat to prevent sun exposure! Keep in mind that it takes 20 years to be able to buy a real car on island. Only one golf cart is allowed per residence. There are no spaces for real cars and more golf carts in Avalon. Our family and friends live here so they have a real car to take us to interiors. Yes you will need a real car to do that! Avalon has enough restaurants and bars to hang out. Casino is also a movie theater to show older movies on certain weekend evenings. They offer tours of this historic casino too. They host NYE gala every year. Beach club is great for summer times. Museum is small but still worth taking a tour. Too bad the spa has closed down, we used to go there all the time. This island has so much to offer. It's the best place for a lot of fun just a ferry ride away!
