some shopping trips are about getting in and getting out, but one can easily spend hours at park…read moreroyal. what makes park royal unique is that it's actually two shopping areas, north and south, connected by pedestrian walkways and a short drive. while both sides have plenty of shops, i'm almost always at park royal south. it feels brighter, more modern, and has a great mix of fashion, home, and lifestyle stores. my usual stops include zara, simons, winners, h&m, and osaka supermarket. there's also a cineplex on the south side. wish there was a uniqlo though. just outside the main mall is the village, which has more of an open air shopping feel. you'll find stores like home depot, anthropologie, and michaels, along with whole foods, starbucks, restaurants, and cafés. it's easy to turn a quick shopping trip into a full day affair. one of the things i enjoy most about park royal is that it feels less hectic than some of the larger malls around metro vancouver. the wide walkways, natural light, and open air sections create a more relaxed atmosphere, making it easy to take your time instead of feeling rushed from store to store. parking is plentiful and free, which makes it an easy choice when you want to shop without the usual mall hassle. whether you're picking up everyday essentials, looking for a little retail therapy, or simply need somewhere to spend a rainy afternoon, park royal is my favourite shopping destination on the north shore. often when i go, "i'm just looking," but we all know how that usually ends. maybe that's just part of the park royal experience.

OMG - Beautiful out of nowhere it seems. What a nice surprise!…read more I stumbled across this place at the beginning of December and could see that they have a 'for donation' Christmas Light Garden. You can only see a touch of what's inside from the outside which is amazing once you're in there and realize how large it actually is. It took me a few tries to visit because I kept showing up just after 9pm only to find out that it was closing and that I missed it (there were quite a few others who were turned away besides me as well), but I finally got to go near the end of December. Wow, was it ever worth it. A small donation to the Fireman's boot had my boyfriend and I strolling around a very beautiful and well thought out Christmas Light display. It was WAY larger than we expected too. There were different sections with different colour themes which made it all that much more exciting. As neither of us had visited before, we took our time and walked around slowly soaking it all in twice. The displays were amazing, colourful, and glittering. we loved every minute of it!! The timing was great too as there was snow on the ground which helped make it feel magical, wintery, and reminiscent. I also visited their restrooms while I was there which were tricky to find, but nice, warm, and clean once I did. I would definately recommend visiting to see the lights again. It does not disappoint. I'm also thinking about going by there in the Spring/Summer as well. Not a place I've thought of before, but now I'm thinking it would be worth an afternoon stroll.

It was established by Schenley's Distilleries in 1969 and is worth a visit for horticultural enthusiasts. Weddings must normally be booked in advance on a first-come basis, but since they're currently under construction they're not accepting bookings for the gardens yet. You're encouraged to check back for updates if looking into booking space for smaller outdoor weddings. Donations to the gardens are gratefully accepted.

Usually I do my weekly shop at the Park & Tilford Save On closer to my house, but if I have library books to take back or I need to pick up wine/beer, the Lynn Valley mall is perfect. There's Kin's for your produce, Westlynn Bakery for bread, Westlynn Meats & Seafood for fresh fish & specialty meats, a health food store that stocks my fave shampoo, the liquor store (apparently now open until 9pm!), and also the smallest, most inconveniently sized Save On Foods in the world. Luckily, by the time I get to Save On, I've already bought most of what I need, so I don't have to spend too much time in there. Then it's just a quick walk over to the library and my errands are done.

I love Save On Foods, Kin's Market, Westlynn Bakery, and Westlynn Meats & Seafood. I haven't been around long enough to begin to understand why there is an old Safeway in operation across the parking lot. Zellers, Shoppers, and Winners come in handy if you need household goods or discount clothing. The Black Bear Pub and Oshin provide some decent dining options. However, I do prefer Lynn Valley Pet Foods & Supplies across the street over the Pet Habitat in Lynn Valley Centre.
