This place is a revolving door of patients being pushed in and pushed out as quickly as possible. I spent less than 5 minutes with Dr. Gunther and he diagnosed plantar fasciitis and tendinitis, which didn't correlate with my symptoms. He referred me for physical therapy, which did not resolve my pain. The therapists were never sure which foot needed therapy - shouldn't that be identified on my medical chart? When my pain didn't resolve with therapy, I was told to make a follow up appointment with Dr. Gunther for orthotics, steroid shots and/or shockwave therapy, but I decided to get a second opinion instead. I saw a foot and ankle specialist who conducted a very thorough exam and ordered an MRI. The diagnosis was Metatarsalgia, Morton's Neuroma, arthritis, and inflammation due to my autoimmune disease - no evidence of tendinitis or plantar fasciitis. After being correctly diagnosed and treated by another doctor, my foot pain is now improving. I wasted close to two months at this practice and was in pain the entire time - I don't recommend Westside Podiatry. read more

Doctor Gunther is a very caring, professional and compassionate foot specialist. I went there with a pain in the ball of my foot, just woke up with it, no trauma or pre curser. Went to my G.P. and he prescribed anti inflammatory medications and the pain subsided a little. Doc Gunther fixed me up with the right type of treatment and I was feeling better the same day. Preface: I didn't have surgery or anything, so I can't speak to Dr. Jex's skill in that area. I went to Westside on the recommendation of my G.P. because of a mystery condition on my toes. I'd already seen my G.P, dermatologist, and endocrinologist about it and they had tried different antibiotics and antifungals and nothing helped. I told Dr. Jex all of this and he just gave me more antibiotics and more antifungals, which of course didn't help (still). He then told me that he didn't know what was wrong and that I should consult an immunologist and a vein specialist. I appreciate the honesty but I think maybe he was a little too blunt and unprofessional with me. I paid him $80 total and all I got was a "Well, hope it works out for you." He didn't ask any other podiatrists (not even the one at the same practice) to consult on my case. Since the problem is clearly on my feet, I would expect a foot doctor to have some idea what it could be. I really doubt that I have an entirely unheard-of condition. Basically, he examined my wallet, found money, and removed it for me. I'm canceling my next follow- up appointment because I need a doctor who will actually try to figure out what's wrong with me, not just keep scheduling follow-up appointments to see if it goes away on its own. read more

Dr. Gunther and his staff are a great team and I love their attitudes. Dr. Gunther recommended me to try Shockwave therapy and PRP for my foot pain and I was hesitant at first, but I am so THANKFUL I tried it instead of having surgery. Literally three visits with five minutes of pain and my foot is virtually pain free. So much better than the pain and down time associated with surgery. I dealt with chronic and worsening pain from heel spurs and plantar fasciitis for about 9 months before I went to see Dr. Gunther. Since physical therapy and shoe inserts weren't helping, he eventually suggested trying Shockwave Therapy before we jumped to surgery., he stated it had a 70-80% success rate. Since I work as a Veterinary Technician, being non weight bearing for 3 weeks after surgery wasn't really an option for me so optimistically I went ahead with the Shockwave Therapy. Despite that it isn't covered by my insurance, it was worth every single penny. It is a total of 3 treatments, 1 treatment per week for 3 weeks. By the time the second treatment was done I was already waking up with less foot/heel pain. I am glad I opted to do the Shockwave Therapy as opposed to jumping straight to surgery. I would highly recommend this for anyone struggling with the same issue! read more

Dr. Jex is AMAZING! I would recommend him to anyone. His staff is courteous and his office and nicely decorated and extremely clean. I had surgery on a Friday afternoon with him and on the following Monday morning 2 different people from his office called to see how I was doing. There isn't another podiatrist I would ever go see. okay, i adore Dr Gunther, he is an awesome foot doctor. But when you have an emergency and it is during office hours, his office help needs to go way beyond to her his patient for help. Dr. Gunther and his staff were amazing!!!!! I had a Bunionectomy (outpatient) and a second toe reduction. I had one before, 7 years ago (on my other foot) back home in McAllen, Texas. I was scared finding a new doctor up here in Houston, but I am so glad I found Dr. Gunther. He put my mind at ease. I was expecting so much swelling and pain, as I had previously experienced with my last surgery. I was so surprised to be walking (minimal) that same day. I had minimal to no pain. On a scale of 1-10, I would say the worse was a low 2 and that was only the day after surgery. I wouldn't even call it pain, perhaps mild discomfort, no pain really. I am very surprised. I had my surgery on Fri, July 15, 2016. Today, Wednesday the 20th I went for my first post op. All is great! Of course I have followed doctor orders to the T. Next week I get my stitches out. I am extremely impressed with the care Dr. Gunther and his staff have provided. He is one down to Earth doctor and answers all your questions. Awesome bedside manner doctor!!! Dr Gunther was also very professional and friendly. ..also to the point...my surgery went well and healed up great! 2 weeks ago I went to have a bursa and bunion taken off the other foot and had the same experience. .I am healing up well..I would highly recommend Dr Gunther! When I first decided to go to a foot Dr I didn't know where to go..I looked online and he had the highest ratings..
