Dr. Beckman rocks, Im not sure what's up with all the negative reviews but I've had nothing but great experiences at all my visits to SBP. Once I came in for a procedure on my toe and I had been dealing with these random red spots on my legs, arms, torso. He took a look and kindly prescribed me some oral steroids that cleared the rashes up! I followed up with my dermatologist and it turns out I had an allergic reaction to the COVID vaccine and steroid were the best way to go. Keep in mind that's not even what I was in for. I had the misfortune of seeing Dr. Beckman due to a lingering injury from a car accident earlier this year. However, Dr. Beckman was completely thorough, and was able to provide treatment for my ankle that same visit. Some doctor's half-listen and rush you through your explanation of the injury and don't allow many questions once you have been given your diagnosis/treatment options. However, Dr. Beckman spent a lot of time going through the full extent of my injury, treatment and expectations for healing in the future. As my injury is ongoing, I will continue to go to him for treatment. While I don't look forward to going to the doctor, at least I know that I will be in good hands with this process. Bad surgeon. When I met him for the procedure he was late and looked like he was asleep. He didn't even remember what he was doing to my foot and I had to remind him. I should have stopped him right then. Fused my big toe three years ago. Now I have a large lump on the ball of my foot and the fusion is coming apart and will require revision surgery. Every step is uncomfortable and can't wear regular shoes. When you complain to him, he talks condescendingly to you and says give it time and brags about what a good surgeon he is. I found Dr. Beckman here on Yelp and noticed he had some high ratings, so I figured I'd try him out. What I didn't pay attention to was that his positive ratings/reviews are SUPER old. I went to the Katy Frwy location and will never go back to see him again. I went because I noticed my foot was starting to form dry calluses, I thought it was probably be because of my increased running activity so I wanted to get advice on how to stop it and prevent future occurrences. I arrived at 11am appointment, the reception greeted me and after about 10 minutes sent back to the patient room. I sat there for another HOUR waiting on the doctor and shockingly he walked in, looked at my foot for 1 minute and said "oh you have a mild case of athlete's foot". I have to say I was a bit relieved and pissed at the same time. I sat there for an hour and 15min for you to give me 1min of your time!!!! Next he said "I will prescribe you a cream, it should arrive by mail". Luckily while I was sitting there for the hour of wasted time, i had time to go through and read all of the Yelp reviews and saw that his "mail order prescriptions were a scam" so I politely declined. Instead we wrote me out a prescription but thankfully I have a good pharmacy because they called me to tell me the prescription he gave was for $356!! Who pays $300 for some foot cream when you can go to a local store and get some Gold Bond or Lotrimin for $15-20. Outrageous Visit Dr. Beckman at your own risk. read more

Dr Beckman is simply awesome. - Dr. Beckman is a marathoner and triathlete, so he knew exactly what I was going through with my foot pain from marathon training. In fact, his numerous finisher medals hang in the waiting area! - He spent 45 minutes with me going over the anatomy of the foot, my x-rays, different treatments, and ways to modify my training. He even watched me walk up and down the hallway. - His treatment was very conservative, which I appreciated. With only four weeks to race day, he gave several ways to treat/live with my bone spurs so I could make it to and through race day. -He didn't try to push any fancy orthotics or other devices on me. Awesome. - Staff was very friendly and helpful, even when I accidentally showed up at 10 a.m. for my 3:30 p.m. appointment. - If you're a runner having foot issues, make sure you take your shoes -- he could tell a lot about my gait just from looking at the soles of my trainers. I only wish every one of my doctors was as caring and thorough as Dr Beckman! I will definitely be back to see him. Don't hesitate to make an appointment if you have any kind of foot pain -- you will be glad you did. read more

It's been about 2 years now since doctor beckman performed my surgery, a lateral ankle stabilization, (needed because of a broken ankle with some disconnected tendons) also strengthening a big toe that had some damage to the ligaments. I can say he did a great job, succeeding in giving my left ankle much better control and strength, and lifting my dropped big toe. I had a foot rash and went to see Dr. Beckman since my mother had used him for her ankle surgery. While he did a fine job on her, he admitted he didn't know anything about rashes and didn't even take a skin sample or refer me to a dermatologist. In all, he spent 2-3 minutes staring at my foot, saying he couldn't really help me. Then his nurse wrote a prescription--that's it. I ended up buying a $200+ foot cream that did nothing--I could have gone to a pharmacist and gotten the same advice for free. I paid my $25. co-pay and left, disappointed. Worse, now his staff is hounding me since I have a high insurance deductible. Wish I could make $25 for two minutes of unhelpful, unproductive "work." Don't they have better things to do? I came to Dr. Beckman with pain in my foot. He found some swelling, but no apparent reason for the pain. So he prescribed an anti-inflammatory cream. When he said "I'll have them mail it to you" I should have realized something was wrong. There are many pharmacies in Houston, and I didn't have any exotic problem. Why mail it to me? Something was wrong, all right. The cream cost $500. Most of that would be billed to my insurance; someone called for my credit card number for the $40 co-pay. A good anti-inflammatory creme costs about $20, and can be bought easily at any pharmacy or online. He may be a competent doctor; I didn't get to find out. But beware if he offers to have a cream mailed to you. Tell him you'll just pick it up at the pharmacy. read more

I went in about a year ago for an aggravating ankle injury that another podiatrist failed to help with. Dr. Beckman proceeds to first tell me that it would be useless to do an MRI because then all we would do is know what the problem is. Huh? So he proceeds to highly recommend expensive orthotic insoles, which of course I'm sold on because he says there's no way I should run (I run ~20mi/wk) without them. After receiving them, I ran in them and on about the third run, my opposite heel from my ankle injury started hurting me. Well, here it is over a year later and my heel is still injured. Haven't run in the insoles since. $500 wasted down the drain, thank you very much. Now what do I do? Another Dr. will just tell me to not run, walk or do anything but ice it. So far in Houston I'm 0-2 with podiatrists...think I'll wait till I move from this God-forsaken city till I get looked at again. read more

Waited to get xrays onsite another 3 minutes probably, xrays took probably another 4-5 minutes, sat down again and waited for doctor.....4-5 minutes? Came in and had already reviewed the xrays and knew my foot was broken. Shockingly quick, easy to talk to, I will follow up with more reviews during the healing process. I saw Dr. Beckman, of Spring Branch Podiatry, for the first time recently and was quite favorably impressed with him. Besides being knowledgeable and confident, he was personable, warm, and even showed a sense of humor. (Many doctors lack that, in my experience!) He was able to diagnose my foot problem, explain the diagnosis to me, give me a cortisone shot, give me a treatment plan to follow until I see him again in three weeks, and answer all my questions--and although he did NOT rush me at all, he did everything so efficiently that we were finished quickly. I left his office feeling like I understood what was wrong and what I should do for it between appointments. I recommend Dr. Beckman highly. read more

That was a relief because I had called another place right before and the lady had me on hold for 5 minutes, then told me the next available appointment was in 2 days! Dr. Beckman (and Dr. Biel) are awesome! I am a doctor nearby, and their office runs incredibly smoothly. I had to be rescheduled 1 day after my appointment (due to medical illness of the doctor) but they called me promptly and got my right in. You might have thought this would have caused a long wait at the new appointment, but I had barely sat down in the waiting room when I was called. Dr. Beckman was extremely personable and helpful, giving me a diagnosis and treatment. He is a talented athlete himself, and was particularly understanding of my desire to get back to running ASAP! Beware of this doctor. After two surgeries which I found out were unnecessary, I am crippled for life, have pain every day. The bone was cut too short and there is no remedy. I saw Dr. Beckman at Spring Branch Podiatry in June 2014. Well, I say I "saw" him, but that is true only in the sense that he was briefly in the same room as me. All told, he spent about 45 seconds "examining" me, declared that I needed immediate and expensive surgery, laughed at me, and then he was gone. I waited at least twenty minutes in the patient room alone. Six months later, I received a bill that claimed to have been sent a month before. I saw several charges there that absolutely do not make sense, and Dr. Beckman's staff offered no adequate explanations. Three charges in particular stand out: a charge for calculating my BMI "with followup" (which I never asked for, never received, and wasn't even right), a verification of meds (I was not on any meds, never asked for any meds, and never received any meds), and most baffling and egregiously a fee for "tobacco non-user." A fee for NOT smoking. When I spoke to Dr. Beckman's staff, they claimed that I was not being billed for these charges. I did not, do not, and cannot believe that this is true. I went through the math when I received my bill, and later on the phone with Dr. Beckman's staff: without those charges, my bill would not have been for the amount I was charged. They refused to budge, and not wanting to let them torpedo my credit score I paid under protest. I cannot recommend Dr. Beckman or Spring Branch Podiatry to anyone. His combination of poor service and questionable billing practices leaves a foul taste in my mouth. read more

I went in to see Dr. Beckman on May 15, 2015 and he sat down with me and explain everything I needed to know about the issues he found with my feet. I was pleased that he spent so much time with me and for educating me on how I came about these issues with my feet. On June 22, 2015 I had my right foot surgery , (McBride and hammer toe in the 4th and 5th digit) and on October 5, 2015 had my left foot surgery(McBride and hammer toe on the 5th digit). I'm at 10 day recover from my left foot surgery and I feel good and I'm healing well. I did have minor bunions but even though it was minor foot surgery is painful but thanks to Dr. Beckman he made this experience less painful and comforting to go through. read more

Dr. Beckman did bunion surgery on my foot and it was amazingly easy. Several years ago I did the left foot with a different doctor and was non weight baring for over 12 weeks. With Dr. Beckman I walked out of the recovery room to the restroom and to the wheel chair to be released. I wore regular shoes in one week and had little to no pain. Amazing is all I can say, he said who's the Superman and I agree. If you're scared to do it ,don't be I went to him because of the reviews and it was the best decision I could make. :) read more

I recently had foot surgery by Dr. Beckman, and after having dealt with other podiatrist, he is the best, both professionally and personally. What I mean is his personality is wonderful. He has a great bedside manner, and since my very first appointment with him, he made it so easy and comfortable to explain my problem. My pain after surgery was absolutely minimal and normally I have a horribly low tolerance for pain. I would greatly recommend this podiatrist for any issues related to feet/ankles/toes. Not too happy with Dr. Beckman follow-up procedure. Went to him for pain in foot,; got a cortisone shot & said I needed insert for shoes. He said they would call my insurance to see if the inserts are covered & then would call me and let me know. My appt. was on a Tues. By Fri. afternoon I had not heard from the Dr.'s office so I called. They said Miss Frances was in the process then of verifying my ins. Now it is Tues.(1 week later) and I called an hour ago. After being transferred 2 times the girl said Frances was not in this location today and has not verified with my ins. yet. and she should have it verified sometime this week. I asked her if Frances was the only one in the office who could verify it and her response was yes. One other thing that I did not like was Dr.'s Beckman's wise cracks given to me and my mother. Doctor is good. This review is more for this particular office/clinic. Office hours are advertised as open till 5 pm on Fridays. I got there at 4:40 pm to pick up my repaired orthotics which I needed for my long run on the weekend, and the office is already closed. I was knocking on the door and was calling the office. I was told they probably left earlier. Why advertise that you are open till 5 pm?? I saw someone inside, and she clearly saw and heard me knocking, but she didn't even open the door to acknowledge me. I had to go to this office which is farther because I have been told that I won't get it from the nearer satellite office until next week. Friday is the only day I can leave work earlier, so I was glad that I got there before 5 pm after fighting the traffic. Only to be disappointed and pissed off. Such a waste of time and energy!!
