We were coming back from a long backpacking weekend of burning calories and eating freeze dried mush and arrived to the ferry early. Well well, whatever shall we do?! The husband and I looked at each other and immediately knew pizza was in order to help replenish those long lost calories. Westside locations are always great for having gluten free options and the pizza here was no let down. The husband ordered me a pesto with all my favorite toppings and I'm sure I resembled a wild animal protecting it's prey as I dove in. The person working the register was helpful when ordering, the food was great, and they had gf options. This will definitely be our Kingston take out spot after long camping and backpacking trips on the peninsula.

How I heard of this place: Years ago, my in-laws were visiting, and while on Bainbridge Island, my father in law offered to treat us to a "cheap lunch" at Westside Pizza. Waiting in the ferry line on this visit, we ventured into the town for a bite to eat and came across this new (to us) pizza place again. Type of cuisine: Pizza. Ambiance: This location resembled a pub, bar-like quality with an order counter - complete with warming slices display - and dark seating area. The space looked relatively large from the counter, as was the kitchen space behind the register. It felt like what you would expect an old school pizza place to look and smell like. Not bad, nothing special, but serving good pizza. What I ordered: Just a quick bite before our ferry ride, we had two slices of pepperoni pizza and two slices of cheese pizza. What I loved: The pizza was greasy, tasty and full of topping! Why I loved it: Friendly staff, an easy vibe and yummy treats. Cost: Average

Not the best pizza I have ever had, but this place is getting a 4 star review out of me because of its convenient location and great deal. We were on our way home about to take the Kingston to Edmonds ferry. We paid and parked our car in the ferry line and walked to Westside Pizza from the waiting zone. So location wise, it is perfect for the ferry crowd. We got there at 2:30, just in time for their $5 flat deal of - 2 slices and a drink. I got: - a slice of the Westside pizza for Cody - a slice of Pineapple bacon for myself Again, not the best pizza ever. But for $5, it was a great snack to hold us over while waiting for the ferry! (I gave my pizza crust to our dog:))

Ordered a big kahuna, it was a bit pricey for a medium pizza but easily enough food for two people and it was delicious!

No more $5 lunch deal as advertised. Mediocre pizza & service. Go to Sourdough Willys or The Slab instead!

Came in for the $7 for 2 slices and bottomless soda deal we saw on the street. Can't beat that! Pizza slices were warm and flavorful!

Bland pizza that has skimpy toppings... Think Dominos or ALFY'S quality. Not really worth eating a second time.

This place meets all the criteria. Their pasta dishes and salads are fantastic as well. It's the only place we go for pizza. So why the 3 stars? The service. No one there seems to be in charge. If there is an issue, the employees just pass the buck. Tonight, the heating system was blowing cold air conditioning. Not only us, but several of the patrons there were noticeably cold. We were not the only ones that relocated to a table that wasn't in the direct path of the mini split units. It was 51degrees outside on a cloudy wet day, no reason for the AC to be running. When we asked to have the heat turned up we were told that the owner was the only one that knows how to operate the units. We overheard another staff member tell a customer that they weren't allowed to touch it. Either way, both responses are unacceptable. This is just one example. We have been seated next to a bussing area, dirty glassware literally being stacked next to my wife while seated at the bar. Slow table service is the norm as well. Tables are often missing the necessary silverware, food delivered without plates. Easy stuff to clean up if there was good management. But alas. The beverages (or lack thereof). They have a few beers on tap. Some wine. 40 feet of shelving at the bar and about 8 bottles sitting on them, just the few they need to make their signature cocktails. Nothing else. We actually like to avoid alcohol these days. But here that means we are having ice tea or soda. I ask about N/A beer and they offer Ginger beer. Really? Pretty sad considering all the fine N/A options out there today. It seems this place is riding solely on the reputation of the owner, who teaches at the NW pizza academy (or something like that) and won a prestigious award in Rome. Nice accolades to be sure. But they don't translate well to operating a restaurant and it shows. If you are looking for possibly the best pizza you've had in a long while, or maybe ever, by all means stop by and enjoy. But if you are looking for a quality experience dining out that doesn't disappoint you may want to move on to another spot.

ACTUALLY, here at J'aime Les Crêpes, the crêpes themselves seem fine. It's that they load them with WAY too much goo. Gooey goo goo. Mountains of gooey sweetness. They have a captive audience of hungry, bored ferry passengers just awaiting transport, and perhaps these people are goo lovers one and all, besides me. I mean my worst, number one hated food is fudge, so if you love fudge then perhaps do not heed my opinion and get a sweet, sloppy, goolicious crêpe. Like I said, I have friends who will, in passing by, eat these crêpes and enjoy the experience. The shop IS cute, and the service seems fine. The walk-up window is fun and convenient. The price is typical for eating out, which is to say, pretty damned expensive, but that is not J'aime Les Crêpes fault in the slightest. And yes, in general, j'aime les crêpes also, but for me, please hold the ginormous mountains of sticky thicky goo.
