Maggie is the owner of Westside pet shop for over 30 yrs. and was recommended by a friend which I'm so thankful for. After looking so long for a good groomer and reasonably priced I finally found it! Maggie is great! Friendly down to earth and will listen to what you want. I can tell my doggie felt comfortable with her seeing my pup feeling happy afterwards. She did a wonderful job. Will definitely be going back and highly recommend. The shop is small and one has to drop off pet at the back door not front entrance on Pico. She takes the absolute best care and you can tell from talking with her that she loves animals and loves what she does! She treats our animals with complete care, exactly as we would want from anyone. Maggie has often times notes any small issues with our pups we may not have caught such as a possible ear infection, then provides her own tips and tricks for how to treat and its always worked! It does take a village to raise a dog -- and Maggie has been grooming my now-7-year-old Charlie since he was a puppy. I'd initially had someone coming to my home and grooming Charlie in the kitchen sink. The price was high and I didn't need at-home service, Charlie got too big for the sink -- but it proved he liked being groomed. (That would be a good thing for Charlie, a Maltipoo rescue, who requires monthly care -- high maintenance little guy!) Tried two nearby grooming salons -- disasters! I sat outside as Charlie whined throughout, and when he was done he couldn't wait to leave and pulled me out of both places. This from a puppy who'd loved being groomed -- I really was broken-hearted. And then someone told me about Maggie and Westside Pet Stop. As I'd done at the other two places, sat outside while Charlie was being groomed. This time, no whining -- he'd absolutely fallen in love with Maggie! He emerged looking fabulous -- and very pleased with himself! He knew he looked terrific! And subsequent visits demonstrated how much he adores Maggie; she told me he actually kisses (okay, licks) her during his pampering. He continues to walk right over to the shop as soon as he gets out of my car! From a practical standpoint, I really appreciate how very knowledgeable Maggie is. She's often pointed things out to me that require attention -- or a visit to the vet -- and she's never been wrong. A few months ago Charlie was headed for ACL surgery on both rear legs and I'd gotten the okay to have him groomed beforehand, as I knew I wouldn't be able to do so for a few weeks afterward -- and he desperately needed it. Dear, dear Maggie spent two and a half hours on him; his inability to stand made it difficult to do all that was necessary. But as always, she took her time. And as always, Charlie emerged looking wonderful. Despite his physical incapacity, I think the pampering was what he and I both needed. (Aside: The surgery was a success, and Charlie's as good as ever.) Although it wasn't my first consideration in going to her -- Charlie's well-being was primary -- it doesn't hurt that Maggie's prices are very reasonable. I especially like that there's not a "laundry list" of what needs to be done with separate prices for each (nail trimming, anal glands, etc.) -- Maggie knows what needs to be done and she does it. Maggie's excellence as a groomer is matched by her obvious love for the dogs. In chatting with other clients, it's apparent that Maggie has a devoted clientele. I'm beyond grateful to have her as part of Charlie's life -- and my own. It really doesn't get any better than Maggie and Westside Pet Stop. read more

My experience with LA dog groomers is that it takes weeks to get on their calendars. So when Westside Pet Stop had a same-day opening, I was happy but concerned that they could see us so quickly. I didn't need to worry! We have a long-haired dog with a lot of matting and we are also very particular about her hair (bad combo!). The folks at WPS did an awesome job with the cut, delivered exactly what we wanted after listening to us carefully and checking our example photos, and you can tell they worked really hard on making everything perfect. They also told us it would take longer than usual because it was our dog's first time there and they wanted to make sure she felt comfortable. All that and they are fairly cheap compared to a lot of others in the area. Five stars, well earned. read more

I was able to make a next day appointment, which I loved since it's so hard to get in immediately at most groomers! Kaia got a bath and full groom with everything included: gland expression, nail trimming, ear cleaning, etc. for a VERY affordable price! OMG-my daughters Yorkie got skunked and they knew exactly what to do! Coated her first in Peanut butter to absorb the oil then 8 shampoos later she was odor free!!! After calling the first 20 groomers (no, seriously ::rolls eyes::) listed in our area; we stumbled upon Westside Pet Shop. I cant speak for other pet owners, but in a pet grooming company we primarily look for: 1) affordability - the "standard" grooming costs for dogs under 5lbs is $65 which is ridiculous & 2) experience- our Bubbles coming home with cuts is not an option We don't care too much about physical aesthetic like many other dog owners do.. For that reason, Westside Petshop will likely be our go-to. Prices were about 30% cheaper than the majority of the nearby groomers we called & they simply did their job- Nothing more, nothing less. read more

I have changed my opinion about this shop. After taking my dog a few times and getting really inconsistent cuts and prices....I decided to call back after bringing my pet home complaining that it looked like my dog just got bathed and after spending about four hours in their cages....she didnt look like she got trimmed at all.( I paid about $49.) Later I found out that the owner, Maggie wasnt there that day and one of her other groomers did this service. Maggie was very understanding when I called and told me to bring her back and she would groom her for no additional charge. I waited a couple of weeks to avoid traumatizing my dog again so soon after the incident....I made sure Maggie was there....when I went to pick her up....I was told that I had to pay for the bath....and she charged me $35.00....FOR A BATH???? I paid and left and vowed never to return again. It was not good customer service at all...I much prefer Mani Paws on Robertson for consistant grooming and a much cleaner, homier facility. Sorry Maggie....but you were just wrong!!! read more

I do believe that Maggie has saved my quality of life! This is no exaggeration at all. I moved to this side of town about 4 years ago. My 14+ Shih tzu has been politely banned from a handful of groomers. Including one shop where I was buying her raw food. She is not an aggressive dog, just a very verbal drama queen. Each time I've taken her to a new groomer, it would be worse. I came to the point where she would not let me do much beyond a bath. Then while walking her, I met a woman with another Shih tzu. She told me about Magic Maggie. Rightio, I thought. My little girl will really test her magic. I was at the point where every day was a challenge, I would wake up and first thing try to clean her eyes. No go. She was matted etc. I brought her in. Brianna did the intake , and she was lovely. I met Maggie briefly and we discussed the issues. I left. Not sure of the outcome. Been there done that. OMG! Maggie was able to do a full grooming! ( I have picked her up where only one leg and face was done lol and the groomer gave up) My girl looked amazing. Great cut! I was truly blindsided in a good way. Maggie is Magic. It's the magic of love. She loves what she is doing and the dogs respond in kind. I am so happy! My girl is happy! I highly recommend Westside Pet Stop. :))) Thank you, Maggie. read more
