I mainly come here for the pool, whirlpool, and sauna. I work a very physically demanding job and it's wonderful to come here after being on my feet all night. It's a beautiful facility and I used to actually travel a little further to this location when I lived in another town because it's so nice. Now that I live in gates it's nice having this YMCA just about a 8min drive away from me now. While I don't use the gym equipment as much as I would like, the times I have used it was a pleasure. Everything is high end and of the latest technology. The whole facility is super clean and the workers here are super nice. Even the other members are nice as well. It's why I don't mind paying a little more than say LA fitness..or a lot more than say planet fitness. Others may advertise a no judgement zone...but at the YMCA, I truly feel there is no judgement. It's fun to stay at the YMCA! Pro tip, you can save some cash on your membership if you sign up with someone who lives in your household Also your membership gives you access to every YMCA in Rochester and even canadaigua

You can leave your kids here while you go off to work out. But bear in mind it snows around here about eight and a half months of the year

There's a lot going on in the area. Plenty of parking. The studio follows the format of hour long classes and accountability. They offer various challenges throughout the year. They are structured to help you get your heart rate up and have different levels for where you are at per exercise in your challenge.  If you want to take it up a notch the coach is right there to give you advice and help you out.  I am so glad that Core Capacity offered this challenge and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking to make a healthy change in their life!

Disgustingly messy every single time I go. There are never towels or even hand sanitizer or…read moreanti-bacterial wipes to clean down the machines, huge risk of transmitting infections. They also allow massive groups of kids sports teams to practice any day of the week, even on Sundays. People come to work out in peace and escape the chaos of daily life, not listen to a soccer coach scream at kids for an hour. There is never management there or anyone to man the front desk, nothing is ever stocked, the carpets look like they haven't been vacuumed in weeks. They overcharge for more than a planet fitness black card would cost, and as inconvenient as it is, at least PF is somewhat cleaner and has actual cleaning supplies for use.

Lots of free weights, etc. At one point before they moved I had covid and then had a physical injury so I was not able to go to the gym for several months. When I decided I was ready to go back I showed up only to find them gone. They did not send out an email, nothing was sent in the mail, they just moved. Example number 1 of poor ownership and management to move and not alert those who maybe haven't been in a bit. But you're still collecting my money and I was fine with that as it was my choice up until then not to ask for a pause or anything. At that point (still not knowing where they moved to) I looked them up and called and spoke with the owner (Erin I believe). I explained I just found out you moved, I'd like to cancel my membership. I didn't beat her up over not communicating the move, just asked to cancel. She agreed. Several months go by and I realized they started billing me again. I was billed for about 4 or 5 months and had my credit card company change cards. I did not realize it at the time but Discover would still push through payments on the new card number from the old one. Months go by again and I realized this and called the gym again. She apologized, confirmed she would cancel, and that was that. A solid 4 or 5 months pass without being charged and I find I'm getting charged again. I dispute with Discover, I call her again and this time a little frustrated I tell her for the third time I want her to cancel. She says yes. Charged again 2 months later I call yet AGAIN and she said she would remember (insert my name) canceling and doesn't. I told her this is literally the 4th time I've talked to you specifically to cancel and was told it would be and it wasn't. Please provide written proof of cancellation to me. She asked if a screen shot would suffice. I told her absolutely not, you are the owner I don't care if it's written in ink and signed personally, please send something confirming my cancellation. I have not been charged since (it has only been 2 months again) but I also still have not received confirmation of cancellation. My dispute with my CC company was reversed because I couldn't provide proof I cancelled any of the times. I would not recommend this gym. I haven't stepped foot in the new location but ownership and management do NOT know how to treat their members and or be professional with subscriptions. Not to mention, let's call it what it was, stole $489 from me that I can date back to and MORE if I could go back in transactions to show. Not talking about the time I chose not to go due to injury, but starting from the first time I "cancelled". Completely unethical and if you made mistakes (3 times, we'll see about the 4th time I cancelled) just own up to it, make it right and stop billing me.

The members are kind and social, which makes classes feel comfortable and community-oriented. The staff are warm, professional, and very attentive. The studio is also well equipped with excellent Pilates machines and accessories, and they offer a variety of class types and packages to suit different needs and schedules. Jenny is an ABSOLUTELY AMAZING teacher, and a warm funny person! She clearly knows her craft and is an exceptional teacher. Her guidance is precise, encouraging, and easy to follow. Taking her class felt less like a formal workout and more like learning from a knowledgeable friend who genuinely wants you to succeed. I highly recommend this studio and especially her classes, and her as a person 1:1 teacher/instructor.

Extremely Disappointed - Poor Treatment from Instructors…read more I joined Club Pilates excited to continue my fitness journey with an additional workout option, but unfortunately, my experience has been frustrating and disheartening. Several instructors made rude, snide comments during classes, including things like "there's always one who can't catch on" or suggesting I should be in a lower-level class--before class even started. I'm still learning, but I expected to be supported, not shamed. I don't look like the stereotypical Pilates student, but I follow directions and show up ready to improve. I deserve respect--something I never had to question at places like Breathe Yoga or the YMCA. On top of that, my name has been consistently misspelled on my account despite repeated requests to fix it, which creates issues with my wellness reimbursements. I've tried to stick with it, even going out of my way to avoid certain instructors, but enough is enough. I've never felt so uncomfortable or disrespected at a fitness studio. I've asked to cancel my membership and request a refund for the last month. I'll be continuing my practice at places that value and uplift their members--not tear them down.

The pandemic took a real toll on my fitness routine and I knew I needed to try something different if I wanted to start feeling better again, so I took a shot on winning 6 personal training sessions with these guys. I was blown away immediately by the upbeat, encouraging attitudes of each team member who acknowledged that I was struggling but also made it clear that we were going to work hard and work together to get me back to where I wanted to be. I finished out my trial 6-pack of sessions and loved them so much that I decided to purchase more to keep going! My sessions are 30 minutes each of intense and challenging guided exercises with healthy doses of "atta girl"s and very good music for a soundtrack. It's a solid 30 minute commute for me to get here but it's so worth it. They also offer nutrition training and total health coaching. If you're looking to do something good for your body, give these guys a call!

I was having way too much fun just eating and barely getting outside. Having a safe way to work out during the pandemic plus getting a killer workout in is seriously so clutch for my overall physical and mental health as winter nears. The workouts are always challenging but fun. I find myself getting stronger each week. I admire Rob's positive and encouraging approach. He keeps you MOVING and really packs in lots of different movements during each session. Getting a personal trainer truly maximizes your time and is such an efficient way to work out. Each time I end a session with Rob I learn a little more about fitness and my own health. He challenges you during your time with him and your time away from him to make healthier decisions. Super excited to continue my journey here and so happy I found this gem in Rochester!
