A few weeks before my due date, Heather came to my home and went over a range of information. It was much easier, convenient and in depth for me as opposed to going to a course, as I could ask her questions and just talk freely. A few days after the birth, Heather again came to my home evaluate breastfeeding and make sure everything was going well. She guided me and helped me feel assured and confident that my baby was getting the nutrition she needed. More than that though, Heather checked on me and was able to talk to me mom to mom and assuage some anxieties I had, which is invaluable for first time mothers. When my baby was rejecting the bottle a couple of weeks before starting daycare and I was panicking, I again texted Heather and she gave me the advice and encouragement I needed along with a list of tips to try. Heather is down to earth and supportive, extremely knowledgeable, easy to talk to and responsive, always answering texts or emails. I'm so glad I contacted her before my due date, as I was prepared and more confident in what I was doing. In the hospital there were numerous consultants and nurses, all of which were great, but it seemed everyone had a different answer or advice. Having Heather as an expert to turn to with a down to earth philosophy allowed me to get a gut check when needed. I definitely would recommend her, especially to those first time moms or anyone having issues with breastfeeding!

I found great reviews about Dr. Dreiker online and decided to give the office a call. The office staff were very pleasant on the phone and I was able to get an appointment for an annual within three months! Three months might sound like a while, but for me that's quick compared to previous doctors who were booked solid for a year. Upon arrival I was promptly checked in and taken back within five minutes. This is one efficient doctor's office! I was a little wary about going to a male gynecologist at first but as soon as I met him I felt comfortable. Dr. Dreiker was genuinely concerned about me as a patient and took the time to answer all of my questions. Too often I go to doctor's appointments only to be rushed out the door without getting a complete answer/diagnosis... not with Dr. Dreiker! We spent a good forty-five minutes talking about my background, health and any questions. He explained everything he was doing step by step (there is an overseeing nurse in the room during the exam). He calls in prescriptions on the spot while you're still there -- none of that taking the prescription to the pharmacy only for the pharmacist to be unable to read it. Dr. Dreiker treated me more like a friend than a "client". I'm moving soon and Dr. Dreiker suggested great food places for me to check out and even suggested back roads for my new commute. I'm really happy I found Dr. Dreiker! I feel very comfortable with him and look forward to being his patient for years to come.

He is smart, caring and compassionate. I would be remiss if I didn't mention how wonderful the staff is as well. I don't know all of their names but they were sweet, caring and attentive. I felt as though I was in the best care possible and I could breathe again. When a person is not feeling well or in pain it really helps to feel like someone is listening. I came here following Yelp advice. I got to say I was…read moredisappointed. Here is why: 1. The doctor spent a total of 5 minutes in the room with me. I felt like she was in a rush to go somewhere else. I felt like she was judgmental when I answered some of her questions and she scolded me. I do not go to the OBGYN to be patronized. I also felt like she refused to answer some of my questions. 2. My pap test was sent to a lab that was not in network with my insurance company resulting in me having to pay for a test that should be covered 100% . I am still fighting this with my insurance company and hope for a good outcome. However, I had NEVER had another doctor send my tests to a lab that is not covered by my insurance and I have had the same insurance for years. If the doctor is taking my insurance, shouldn't she make sure to send the tests to a similar facility? I was never asked if I had any preference on the lab handling my tests. 3. My prescription was incorrectly sent to my pharmacy. This would not be a big deal but my pharmacy is kind of retarded (Express Scripts) and sent the incorrect prescription to me immediately without me having the chance to verify it. The incorrect dosage caused me to end up paying 3 times as much for my medication. In order to correct it, I had to call the doctor's office 2 times to ask them to re submit the prescription. The first lady that I talked to was really mean and refused to send the prescription to me directly, it was not until I called again one week later and talked to someone else that my problem was resolved. Still, I did not need to wait two weeks and spend time making calls back and forth between pharmacy and doctor's office. 4. No parking Validation, I would assume that the office would have some kind of deal with the building but no, 6 dollar parking every time I don't think I am going back to this practice next year. I have had much better experiences elsewhere and I am tempted to make the trip back to Virginia to see my old doctor next year.

I was seeing her for a recurring issue which she assured me she would be able to tackle after I explained that I had seen many gynos for this same condition and didn't want to be put on the same meds again. she said she would work with me to figure out a different approach and then never did. After the first appointment she told me she would do some more research on new meds and alternative treatments for my symptoms, but the second appointment rolled around, and she started the appointment with "why are you here again?" she didn't remember me and also failed to read my paperwork beforehand or do the research she meant to do-- she asked me if I had my year exam and I said yes I literally just had it done with her the week before. she started to piece it together and said she would do the research she previously promised and get back to me-- this went on for multiple appointments-- all of which I was fully charged for which was very upsetting-- i felt like I was being strung along, she'd book another appointment and fail to have any answers by the time it would roll around just to ask me to book another one. she was very kind but ultimately unhelpful and unprofessional. I also want to add that the portal system they use is really convoluted and confusing, messages I sent through the portal often were not responded to, and on the flip side I happened to have an outstanding balance on there that I was never notified about (no phone, email, or text reminders!) other than it just sitting there under a different tab which also felt kind of strange.

Unprofessional all around. Ultimately I'm glad I'm not going to be a patient of Dr. McCowan because her behavior in this non-clinical situation speaks poorly to what the experience of being her patient would be like. EDIT: After I published my review on Google, the practice manager responded by describing it as "slander." That is not only very unprofessional , but it is also FALSE. In order for something to be slanderous, it must be not true. I would ask for them to specify what was misrepresented or be more careful about the verbiage they use.

Seeing a…read moregynecologist isn't the most pleasant experience a woman can have, but he's very laid back, calm and makes you feel totally at ease. He also asks about your health in general, just because he wants to get an overall picture -- which I really appreciate. He also is really good about getting back to you when you call. When I was pregnant, he was very supportive and used a common sense approach to dos & don'ts during pregnancy (e.g. caffeine isn't good, but for me having one cup of coffee/day was ok). I was also one of those people who didn't need to have my hand held during every step of the pregnancy, so I liked his matter-of-fact attitude about pregnancy. But I get the sense that he'd hold your hand if you needed it. He works out of B&W Hospital, and all the nurses on the delivery floor just loved him -- I got the sense they really liked working with him. But most importantly, he genuinely cares about his patients. For example, after I delivered my daughter, I experienced some pain after I'd been discharged. I called in the evening, and the doctor on call told me to come into the ER or call Dr. Katz during office hours. I figured I'd wait until the morning. But then Dr. Katz CALLED ME in the morning to ask what was going on. I explained the situation, and he said, "Ok, come in today when you can." "What time should I come?" "Whenever. I'll squeeze you in when you get here." I never thought I'd be so comfortable with a male OB/GYN, but Dr. Katz really is phenomenal.

After doing a bit of research, I concluded going to Dr. Reilly would resemble the quality and care I received in Florida. I was completely wrong. He didn't listen to a word I was telling him. Instead, he dismissed my previous diagnosis and my surgery four years ago, calling my cramps stress related and it was a mere coincidence the successful laparoscopic surgery made me feel better. Luckily for me, in between his insults (hinting that I was a hypochondria), he called me a "pretty girl" or a "little girl." I've never met a doctor who made me feel so insignificant by dismissing my pain and discomfort. It was obvious to me he didn't view my history and current problems with any importance.
