If you have anxiety, nervous, gag reflex, acid reflux, or any other medical condition whatsoever that affects a dentist visit, do not go here. Conditions are largely ignored & they get through procedures as quickly as possible. If something does happen they do NOT care & offer ZERO reassurance to a patient to the point of literally staring at the ceiling while they sit on their stools. Their attitude is "Suck it up"! My medical conditions were ignored & each visit i had to tell them i couldnt do certain things, why not put the info. in the computer & not do what the PAYING customer says they cant?? Their money bottom line is the biggest concern here, not the patient, & I'm REAL tired of this clinic's attitude so taking my money elsewhere. read more

I barely Yelp anymore, but I recently had an amazing experience at Westmount Dental and wanted to tell folks about it. After not seeing a dentist for like at LEAST two and a half years when I still lived in Calgary (and only because it was kind of an emergency), I decided it was high time to take advantage of my benefits plan and book a cleaning somewhere. Thanks to some good online reviews, I found this little gem of a practice. I checked in for my cleaning, and left my info for benefits with the front staff who took care of everything for me. My appointment started promptly. I let my hygienist (Ana?) know it had been awhile and was not made to feel guilty or anything for going too long between cleanings. She was friendly, very knowledgeable, and verbalized most steps of the cleaning as I am SUPER FREAKED OUT BY TEETH THEY'RE SO WEIRD YOU GUYS. Anyways, she advised that I see a dentist soon for a full checkup & for a filling on a cracked tooth. I reentered the front office, expecting to make an appointment somewhere in the near future, but one of their dentists, Dr. Chiang had a cancellation and they were able to fit me in ON THE SPOT. Dr. Chiang was thorough & awesome. Two hours from start to finish, I left with clean teeth, the peace of mind of having a full dental exam, and TWO FILLINGS. I also had a very frozen mouth and was very embarrassed and none of the staff laughed at me even once as we finished the transaction. I loved how friendly this office was, and I LOVED that they handled direct billing for both of my coverage plans (Great West Life, and Blue Cross). Going to the dentist is one of those adulting things that really stresses me out, and I really did feel at ease. Would recommend! :) read more

To Dr. Fungs at Westmount Dental, and the rest of the team there; want to say that every visit was painless, quick and outstanding. Dr. Fungs fixed my Lateral Inciser quite a few times. The last time it broke was the other day and the entire tooth was gone except for a little piece at the base of my gum. You cannot even tell that it was once destroyed. **Sorry about this, really....I wrote this review and ANOTHER Dental Clinic popped in there and I couldn't figure out how to fix it, so here it is again, with the CORRECT DENTAL CLINIC. Thank you to those who thought it was useful, I hope you read this and get the correct address :-) I know....HOW on Earth could someone be a fan of a dental office? Yet, I am :-) Since moving to Edmonton and the area in which we live, our goal has been to find things closer to home, easy to get to on foot or by car (if absolutely necessary). Truth be told, my companion went to Westmount Denture Clinic first since I have always tried to avoid the dentist. However, a teeth cleaning is necessary for good periodontal health and so, over the years I have been going. More recently, I have been noticing how really pleasant, professional and consistent this office is :-) They have hours that accommodate the most fastidious of schedules (take appointments as early as 7am and as late as 7pm), online confirmation emails are sent out (two days before your appointment), and if you don't confirm, the office calls you IN CASE you missed the email note :-) I have noticed more so since in the last little while since I needed to go to take care of a dental issue (receding gum section--TMI? ;-0 ) and have had to have them work with me to figure out a day/time because of my work schedule (which is abhorrent, at best). The office was very good at helping me get a good time and day, as well, the Dentist also informed me how I would feel or not feel so I could best figure out if I could go to work in the morning afterwards or prefer not if I wasn't feeling up to it. In fact, during the procedure, the dentist could tell that I was feeling anxious and asked me if I wanted to stop....he kindly obliged and let me "take a 10 minute break" so I could bring down my stress level a bit and the Hygienist assisting him sat with me a bit to talk with me and through my bit of anxiety. Rarely do you wait more than 5-10 minutes after your scheduled appointment and once in you are greeted and the people actually spend time with you for 5-7 minutes to have a chat about other things besides your teeth health. Don't be fooled though, they are quite serious about their work and are quite thorough in talking you through what they are doing and what may need to be done if that is the case. Also, they consider your work schedule and work with you to make things work. So, yes, I am a "fan" :-) Though I CAN wait to go back, I won't avoid going when I need to either :-) read more

This review comes almost a year after the experience, but I'm sure it's still representative of the clinic. My spouse was in the early stages of getting his braces from an orthodontist. On a Thursday, he had the appointment where the put the spacers in between your back teeth, and these spacers have to stay in for at least 48 hours. His next appointment was for the following Monday, to get the actual metal brackets put in, after the spacers made room. Well, unfortunately, the spacers put in were either too big or something, because his gums were bleeding by Friday night, and he couldn't eat anything without excruciating pain as the spacers were cutting down into his gum. He actually pulled the spacers out on Friday night because he couldn't take the pain. So I woke up on Saturday morning, called our dentist office.. not open. Called the orthodontist, not open. I was really worried that these spacers need to be put back in right away as they needed to be in for a full 48 hours. My spouse was actually leaving for work up north on Tuesday evening. We planned everything perfectly. He took one extra day off work (normally he left Mondays), the brackets go in on Monday, and braces on Tuesday. The orthodontist was very specific about how everything gets done in specific time frames, so I was on a mission to find somewhere that could put spacers in. Needless to say, I think I called every dentist on the south side I could find that was open on Saturdays, begging for them to put spacers in. Some said they didn't have spacers, and the ones that did said they wouldn't do it as he wasn't an existing patient. For real, it's rubber elastic bands and I probably could have used floss to thread the back in myself. Alas, I called Westmount Dental and they were super nice and understanding, and booked him in that day. The location is very convenient to get to from the south side (just use Groat road). The office is very clean, modern, and the staff are very friendly. I'm almost tempted to switch dentists as this place has better hours than my downtown dentist. read more

I saw Dr. Pawan today for two wisdom tooth extractions. My appointment started at 7:20 a.m., and it was over less than 30 minutes later. Tooth extractions for me are usually long, uncomfortable, drawn out procedures, but not this time! I barely felt a thing, and even then, I only felt a tiny bit of pressure which is normal. The procedure was quick and painless. I came to this dentist after having a bad experience with a previous one and I am thoroughly impressed! The front desk staff and dental assistants have great people skills too. I would recommend this dentist a million times. read more

Messed up and cancelled my appointments with no phone call telling me or an attempt to re-schedule, until I found out in person at the clinic for a different procedure than what I was scheduled for. Hygienist is not supposed to be doing manual scraping, but has been anyway, I'm putting a stop to that. Calling me 72hrs. Notice of appt. instead of 48hrs. This clinic needs to remember who the customer is, and what customer service is. I'm tired of being TOLD how things are going to be done. you need to accommodate the PAYING patient, everyone is different with different health issues, you can't just barrel over patients & do whatever you want. Just received benefits from work and thought that I should go in for a teeth cleaning. I recently moved to the westmount area and I didnt have a regular dentist so I thought I would give westmount dental a shot. It was fantastic! Went in, filled out some paperwork. Didnt wait very long and my hygienist was super awesome, anna I believe. She explained everything she did. We chatted. But in all seriousness that woman did an amazing job. I would recommend her for sure. I had a couple issues I needed answers for in regards to teeth treatment and a dentist came in almost instantly and dealt with my issues. They booked me in for some wisdom teeth extraction and a cleaning. Super painless process. Would recommend. read more

If you are ever scared, or have painful teeth cleanings, so was I. My whole life I have gone every year and it's always painful as I have sensitive teeth. Well first time ever having a cleaning at WESTMOUNT dental with BRAD it was magical really, not one tiny bit of pain. He was done before I new it, and my teeth were gorgeous when done. He is absolutely the best ever. GUARANTEED, trust me on this request BRAD. I went to Westmount Dental after a dentist in clareview I was going to for years decided to find everything wrong with my teeth after I became covered by AISH. After about 40 fillings later (which I never ever had a problem with my teeth till everything was covered 100%. Found out by Westmount it most likely wasn't necessary. I'm 45 yrs old and have a cavity maybe every 7-8 yrs. and she knew this. I was so mad and upset. So I went to get a tooth looked at that I needed pulled and decided on WESTMOUNT dental office, and the dr said why don't we do a root canal instead. I told him old dentist tried for two months for approval and was denied a root canal from AISH and had to get a tooth pulled because of it. Westmount Dental had my root canal approved before I got home. I was amazed. And most of all I KEPT MY TOOTH. So I'm a firm lover now this is the best clinic by far I have been to in my life. read more

The admin. staff have poor communication between each other, when I cancelled an appt. very early in the morning, they call later asking where I am? admin. cancelled an appt. without talking to me due to my insurance, which needs to be discussed, just don't outright cancel it without talking to the patient. This was my first visit to Westmount Dental Clinic and was able to make an appointment within few days, the staff there were so friendly and helpful . I must say I always had fear of going to the dentist but Dr. Hadi who looked after my teeth was amazing. he was so informative while working on my sensitive teeth and always made sure I was ok. If I could give this place zero stars, I would. Terrible customer service!! DO NOT GO HERE! I went to a young dentist there to get some fillings done, she informed me when she was done that she switched out some of my other fillings (without my permission) and had filled them with ceramic this time which I never would have agreed to. The fillings were in the back of my mouth, they didn't need to be ceramic. The fact that I wasn't consulted before she changed out some existing fillings made me unhappy. I didn't say much at the time, I had insurance so I left it alone. Then my teeth started to hurt immediately after my mouth came back to life. It's now 3 months later and I still cannot chew most food comfortably and have incredible sensitivity (which was never an issue for me before). I went back to have an "adjustment" several times as I was moving across the country and needed the pain gone. The adjustments didn't help and I had a flight to catch. I paid 250$ along with what the insurance paid. Now they are calling saying I have an outstanding balance of 30 bucks. I have been to a dentist in my new home town several times, having to pay (out of pocket, since I no longer have insurance with my new job) lots of money and have been informed that I will probably need a ROOT CANAL because of what she did. But after all the agony I have been put through they still want this 30$. Stay away.. Far far away! Although I will say, the woman I spoke with last time about it was understanding and did try to get the remainder waived, but both the accounts person and the manager refused to do so. I'm a young girl that will now probably need a root canal to get this fixed, and will be paying out of pocket for their mistake.. Don't do what I did. read more
