On Memorial Day (5/28/18) I was headed south about 6PM when the alternator when out on my 2006 Honda Pilot. I managed to get my car to the parking lot in a strip mall on Hwy 441 and resigned myself to spending the night in a nearby hotel. The next morning I made several calls, including one to my regular mechanic near the Atlanta Airport, who gave me some idea what it would cost to replace the alternator. I also had to have the car towed, which involved additional calls. Fortunately, I have a AAA membership, so the first five miles for towing were covered. Of the three independent repair shops I contacted, I got two voicemails that were never returned and one real person, Jeff Lee. Jeff told me what it would cost to do the job and that he could get to it right after lunch. At that point it was either go with Jeff or have the car towed to the nearest dealership in either Gainesville or Buford. I met the tow truck and off we went to Lee Automotive, arriving about 10AM. In retrospect, I could have hung out in the hotel for a couple of more hours and arrived at Jeff's closer to lunch. Anyway, it was ok. I just stayed with the car at Jeff's shop to about 1:15 when they got to the job. At 2:45 I was out of there with a new alternator at a slightly lower price than what I'd been quoted by my regular mechanic. It was all good! And, I might add, were it not for this incident, I probably never would have seen Maysville, Georgia. Thank you, Jeff, and the other mechanics in your shop.

Prices have gone up considerably and things seemed a little sketchy in explanations. What used to have the good old boys feel now has the "any other garage" feel. Our only vehicle completely broke down with what appeared to be transmission. It was towed to Lord's. My husband called and asked could they just look and see if it was going to be a cheap fix or was this it for our vehicle. They said it would be over a week before they could even look at it. They had just serviced the vehicle to the tune of $500 3 weeks prior. Time for a new auto repairman.

However, when I got my car back there were greasy hand-prints all over the front fenders of my car, also my drivers side door handle was covered in grease, and whoever worked on it didn't put a paper mat on the floor so my front floormat was covered in grease and mud. Atleast if you are going to dirty up my car you can clean the friggin thing before calling me and asking me to pick it up. If an auto repair shop doesn't care about my car than I don't care to do business with them.
