We like to frequent this library because it is merely a few blocks away from one of my favorite stores, Trader Joe's. And of course, there are some highlights that are particularly appealing to our young girls. We regularly go here. There are free craft kits for kids and the elderly. Right now for all ages there is an art contest with prizes. The rentals are incredible... everything from a ghost hunting kit to a 3D camera! It's clean, cozy, organized and plenty of parking. The kids section has some play areas such as a kitchen. read more

I have been to most all of the libraries in DuPage county and sadly, I find this one to be the most lacking. From the outside the facility looks impressive, but once inside, the disappointments begin; the vending machines were broken, the staff acts overly busy as if they are trying to "look" busy or someone didn't show up for work, using their printing equipment is twice as much as other libraries and "family room" bathrooms smell funny. The oddest item is the entire second floor is off limits for people who do not have children; half the building can not be used for any reason unless you have a child with you. What a waste! If you need a library you would be better off to go south to Woodridge, west to Downers Grove or north to Lombard, which all have friendly and accommodating libraries. read more

The library is my 1st stop whenever I have to print anything. We have enjoyed toddler dance parties up stairs, and my 2 yr old loves the fun coloring and building stations of the children's section. Personally I enjoy popping in to check out the latest magazines. Since a remodel mid 2019, the library is much improved. They have are a lot of events for all age groups that I enjoy marking on our family calendar. If I worked from home I would make use of their private meeting rooms. A quite alternative to focus and get work done, with a plethora of resources steps away. My only complaint is how they handle the morning crows when voting takes place. The line can stretch out the front door, with no good flow of the masses of people. read more

I come here practically every week for story time with Ms. Adrian. My daughter is almost two and loves the story time here. It engages her with reading, singing, & dancing. There is a huge turnout every time so we get to interact with bunches of kids and their parents. Plus, as a SAHM, I love being able to interact with other adults! I think this is a pretty small library but they seem to have a good amount of classes & activities for the community. Right now they have a bin collecting coats & scarves for local charities. The children's book selection is amazing. They have a ton of baby board books, picture books etc. They also just revamped the play area for kids. It now has a play kitchen, a puppet theater, & gobs of toys & puzzles. If you have a child you must check out their activities here. My daughter loves it! read more

I'll be honest, I have not been here in years. I had to stop coming when the employees where trying to pull me down to their IQ level and I just couldn't dumb down that much. I know this is pretty harsh for a library, but really how dumb do you have to be to work here? My family and I had nothing but problems with them. My mom was a book return Nazi and our books were always returned on time. Yet we were constantly getting late notices with fees attached. Only when we stopped using the drop box and made them check the books in while we were watching did that stop. I also paid late fees on the same book multiple times, then got yelled at for not hanging on to a 50 cent library receipt from a year and half before. I really hope that my comments are outdated and they hired some polite, helpful, smart people. I'm just never brave enough to find out for myself. read more

This is and has always been my library. Remember when it used to be near the park district? In what is now the Westmont Senior Center? This is a way better facility, to say the least. The new library was built about 10 or so years ago and it's a really great place to be. The kid's section is always fun and has a lot of great books, but is not as big or isolated as the DG library (isolated meaning it has its own private section of the library). I spent a lot of my tween years in the juvenile section, which always has current titles and an abundant selection of books. The adult section is well organized and the library staff can always help you find anything you need. There are a lot of computer stations around for your convenience to help you look for a book and there are a ton of tables and chairs for studying and reading. There are also a few computers for personal use and the printing is cheap. Lastly, there are actually a few private rooms that you can reserve for studying by yourself or with a group. I did this a few times in high school for big tests or for projects with friends. They work out really nicely because you won't be bothered by anyone (nor will you bother anyone else) and it's free! Only disadvantages: not as big as the DG Public Library and not open on Sundays. read more

This library is often an unsettling experience. Most recently had a room reserved and staff rudely barged in as I was wrapping up my hour. Yes it was 4:29 but seriously knock first! Another time I needed help for a book I couldn't find, but librarian was too busy looking for houses to bother to help. It's needs some serious updates but they offer free classes and community events kudos for that, shame on your staff for lack of etiquette. read more

The Westmont Public Library has good qualities. What I appreciate most is the location and parking lot. It is positioned north of the downtown area and is very accessible. You can easily enter by way of a traffic light. Upon reaching the library, you will find a spacious parking lot. This is one big advantage of being located outside the downtown. In addition, drivers can easily pull up to the drive-up drop-off box to deposit library materials. As you enter the library, you will find the adult section on the main floor. Desks and seats are placed around the floor in convenient places near the shelves. New library materials are in the center of the floor, with fiction to the right and nonfiction to the left. The book selection is about average. Often I cannot find the fiction or nonfiction titles I most want to read but can usually find comparable titles. The staff members are polite. One problem is the lack of circulation staff, however. Usually only one or two workers are present checking out books, which often results in lines building up. There is no self-checkout to speed the process. Overall, this library is functional and about average. read more

A small and welcoming library. I quickly lose track of time reading here. I know a lot of the librarians, and they are all nice to me. Although they do not have the biggest selection, I order whatever I cannot find online, and come back here to pick up books and movies from other libraries. It is a very kid-friendly library and I have had many great experiences here. read more

Great amount of toys for the little ones, wish all libraries have them. One thing though for Halloween, if a child gets a treat for Halloween for wearing a costume great, but your not going to allow my child a treat for wearing a Halloween outfit but you gave another boy not wearing anything to do with Halloween a treat why would you say no to my child in a Halloween outfit, not all parents want their kid in a costume all day for certain reasons but mine was dressed in a Halloween outfit still. I really like this library I go here all the time to either get dvds for me or books for my son. I just wish they had more toys for all ages their entire children section is for kids 3 years and up what about the babies????????? All the people are really friendly and I dont have to many issues with anyone. I am only giving it 4 stars because everytime i go and rent something, return it or need to pay. They ALWAYS screw up my sister and law and I have the same name and same address just different birth days and they ALWAYS screw up and switch the accounts. I have tried multiple times to fix this and they say they cant do anything. Thats my only main issue, but besides that it is a good library. read more
