This is a great little suburban library. Starting from the outside, they have a large parking lot. When you enter into the beautiful, large, bright lobby/circulation area, there's a good amount of seating. They have a bunch of study rooms, which you can apparently reserve up to one week in advance. They vary in sizes. I went in and asked if they had any and they had one that was the perfect size, because there were just two of us, and it was the smallest of the rooms. I really appreciate that they will allow you to use a room even if you're not a resident. I live in Chicago but was in the suburbs and wanted to do some homework, and was able to get a room here for an hour and a half by handing over my driver's license. Thank you, Woodridge library! They have several different types of seating options. There are some comfy blue chairs scattered around the place, mostly in front of the round window facing the lawn where there's fantastic natural lighting. There are some group study tables, too (outside the study rooms), which seat up to four people. They also have some tables that each seat up to six people but those ones have partitions that separate the two sides of the table, so not conducive to group work. On the plus side, the partitions have outlets, which makes it handy when you're working on your laptop. There was a small art exhibit happening in the lobby by circulation on the day I was there. I actually arrived just about when it was starting and I was one one of only three wandering through the exhibit, but when I left my study room about an hour and a half later there were at least 30 people talking and enjoying the artists reception. What was kind of awesome is that it was far enough away from the main part of the library that you couldn't even tell; there was no noise at all in the stacks area. They have a good sized collection of audio and video recordings. On the other side of some of the study rooms they have a copy machine, fax machine, typewriter, scanner, an ADA station (for people who are visually and hearing impaired), and a printing station. There's a nominal fee for copies, and I assume the fax and printer have a fee as well. They have free WiFi! That is incredibly helpful, especially when trying to get some studying done. There's a large bank of computers available at this library, too; they have about 25. This is all on the first floor--I didn't even go to the second floor, so who knows what wonders might be found up there. Undoubtedly the children's section since I didn't see anything down their for small children. Staff are very friendly and helpful. I would definitely like to return to this library sometime, as I continue my tour of public libraries around Chicago and the suburbs.

I've been going here since I was 12 year's old when my family first moved to the area and it's not exaggeration when I say that I visit here at least once a week (even 3 times a week one summer!). I love this library and ever since they renovate it, included the Swan circulation borrowing system, it ha become my favorite resource to go to for reads, and in the past decade, media content. Forget Block Buster, even Netflix (which I love), but during my college days and days of unemployment, this is the single place where I knew I could go to find entertainment, feed my brain and to just keep busy! Needless to say, that I saved a lot of money borrowing magazines, borrowing movies, music, audiobooks, and just about anything that I could think of. There is even the Mango language online tool to learn another language. The library is probably one of the most under-used resource within a residential community so it just makes me happy to see that from time to time, young adults and kids are still coming in. Someday, when I have a family of my own, the public school and library system is going to be the most influential factors that would affect my choice of residence. Most of the staff here (99%) are very friendly and quick to help you check out and answers your questions. There was a couple of times where one of the staff woman wasn't particular welcoming but after several observances, I saw that it was just her personality and she was like that to everyone and it wasn't just me. That made me feel a bit better (and I thought it was because I was coming in too much!). Anyways, I'm still a fan regardless and so I give all 5 stars! (Maybe it's suitable for 4 but since this one is my hometown, it's gonna get a little of a bump, sorry folks!) =P

Plenty of selection, one of the first I knew with BlueRay and a great place to work if you head all the way through the adult section.

Ask the Community - Woodridge Library

Does this library allow you to play tabletop games, and if so can you bring your own?

Hi! We have tables just off our lobby that would work for playing tabletop games. We also have study rooms that fit between 1 and 6 people that could be used. Study rooms can be reserved up to one week ahead of time by coming in or calling us.

Nowadays, it is a state-of-the-art facility which caters to all age groups and I am getting to learn about what it has to offer (too much to note honestly). First of all, I will note that the staff are excellent - very pleasant, diverse and helpful, not only to someone like myself (with not obvious "disabilities") but to others as well. It is very quiet areas. I have been utilizing the private rooms for peace and quiet to accomplish computer activities and it is definitely much quieter than it was back in 2012 when I would frequent the library while in school for a degree. There is a wide variety of materials to be checked out: I learned about the "Library of Things", which are literally "things" that can be checked out and taken home with you (one of the many perks of being in the IPL district). If you don't know how to utilize the many services, feel free to ask Guest Services and a friendly person there can assist you. My best recommendation is to check out the link to their website: https://ippl.info for more information. No one library is perfect but I believe they would be open to suggestions. :)

Is this a library or a Kinder Care?…read more I was a little disappointed that this place seems to cater to little kids with no signs of parental figures, on hand and foot since this place is within walking distance from my house (well, if I weren't so lazy it'd be within walking distance, that is). The entire huge first floor is all children's books, pics, readings, etc. It's really a shame since I have no need or room for anything child appropriate in my PG-13 plus life. The lower level is for adults and young adults and had a pretty limited selection compared to the Nichols library in downtown Naperville though I was pretty impressed with their CD collection and books on cd shelves, of which this location had cooler stuff. I defo wasn't a fan of how cramped everything was in here... there's no way it's handicap accessible, that's for sure. Seating here is kind of hard to come by so if you're planning on meeting up with a study group, get there early or whenever libraries have off-peak hours so you can stake out a spot. I sat in the empty desk area off in a far back corner with really low lighting. The kind of place library murders happen... if there is such a thing as library murders outside of stories in books at the library. I will be back since it's close to my house and because I have to return the stuff I took out at some point. I don't need another $7 late fee like I got for not returning The Crow for 4 days after the due date... like anyone else was going rent it anyway.

I love going here to work on homework because I can use their computers and they have A LOT of them so I never have to wait when I am in a rush to print something off before class. About a semester ago, I got a walk through of the Library with one of the employees that work there. She showed me a whole area the Library has sectioned off from the rest of the books, that is completely dedicated to the teaching field. It is AWESOME! You can find any book you need on lessons and activities. They also have a whole room where you can check out games and activities to bring to your classes with you when you teach. These kits include all the materials you need to do the activity and some of them are really neat like the giant mannequin whose organs you can remove in the stomach for a health class! I love it. The staff are extremely friendly here too and always looking to help you. The library itself is pretty easy to maneuver around but sometimes it becomes overwhelming because there are so many books and it can take awhile to find what you are looking for. Just ask! Some, if not most, of the employees that work there are students and they are very helpful. They will point you in the right direction.
