Fantastic example of a public library. It had 3 floors, plenty of space and media options. I was also pleased to see that there were multiple books of the same title so more people can borrow at the same time with shorter hold times. They had a small food bank out front. Started using our local library! Huge place! Great options to download audio and ebooks. Even tv shows and movies. Try the apps overdrive and hoopla! I picked up a hold yesterday and they said that you can pick up holds in the drive through if you want! A drive through at the library?! That's some service! Very big clean space to get work done. So this is a very disappointing review. I hate doing this and I'm never one to give a "one star" unless it was deserved! We've been a part of the community since 1997, Bolingbrook community television. Some of you may remember Sports Preview and what an impact it was for the community. Not only that, we were the longest running sports show in the history of the station. We took pride in that and we're also nominated for five awards.. We couldn't have been more humbled. Many of those were on the show are now working for ESPN and for the NFL. Now with that said, this is where it can get a little confusing and it might rub off the wrong way for some, but you need to read in between the lines. My co-pilot and I simulcast a podcast there at the fountaindale library, studio 300, and down here in Florida, where I'm located at. We are on our fourth episode and I cover and work closely (in person) with the NFL IPP and other major sporting outlets. We have some high profile guests from the NFL,from Major League baseball, to college football,from past and future. Ok.. The picture is painted. With that said, it is the fourth episode and each time that my co-pilot has gone in to studio 300 we have wasted 15 to 30 minutes of our scheduled 2 hour time because of the negligence on their end not changing or enforcing guest etiquette by putting everything back to default for the next person to just plug and play . Studio etiquette is not there, and the staff there was very rude (Patrick and Justin) and letting us know we need to be there 30 minutes before our scheduled time, even if there's an overlap. Meaning someone is in the studio at 12:59 and we're in there at 1:00 p.m. What happens if the equipment is still not up to par on the settings we need it? It will still take away our time.... Am i right? Not sounding entitled. I'm just pointing out the facts. I've been doing this since I was 14 years old. I'm almost 42 and this has been my profession my whole life. I think I know what I'm talking about. It'll be like telling a pressman of 40 years how to put ink in a printer. We don't want to ask for extra time.. I'll give him this. They gave us extra time the past two episodes but why do you have to give us extra time when we can just have this fixed from the last four times??. We just want the equipment to be ready to go when we get there. I COULD of lost possible sponsorships due to timing and had to erase numerous segments because of the time lost . The irony of this we were discussing a segment about mental health and what occurred after the show after we exited, staff member Patrick (studio 300) came in to scold the taxpayer ( my co-pilot )about etiquette and he is filing an incident report against Roy and it's his final warning and first warning for that matter. All because he asked for help and this is the fourth time that we have lost 35 minutes to almost 40 minutes total on average. We wanted to do an hour and a half show. Our shows have been 47 minutes to an hour and 10 with a lot of cut segments due to this . My co-pilot is the nicest guy in the world, a God's man, someone that will give right arm to you if you need it. It got so bad to where he had to leave and had a panic attack in his car, in their parking lot due to them scolding him for no reason! He was completely blindsided and they turn the tables on us because we are trying to help! I'm filing a complaint because this is the fourth time I didn't say anything until this fourth time. It seems that no one cares over there. I get it to library and I get that somewhere. Just doing this for part-time work. But if you're going to work there, can you please have the respect for people like us that are asking just to have the equipment right? I don't think that's hard? Go to a fast food restaurant and order a cheeseburger and fries, they give you a chicken sandwich and onion rings. You going to drive off and just deal with it? No! So, I tried calling the director Paul Mills and he sent me to voicemail so it must not be a serious issue for him. I was trying to help brainstorm, to help them out so this doesn't occur with other people and we get completely disrespected. We were going to run a special there for them and give them some publicity for their studio and help them with charities but that is completely gone and out the window now! If you guys are looking to do a podcast and you really need the time, make sure to get there 30 minutes prior so you can also go through the same BS that you're going to go there if you show up a minute early anyways. Listen to how dumb that sounds. I hope this is a learning experience for everybody because I called Patrick butthurt and that's all Justin cared about. Totally miss the whole point and should have apologized from the get-go but that's okay, it's not perfect world . I feel for them and I hope that God has a great plan for them. I wish there were more stars to express the excellence of the public library district in Bolingbrook, IL. Their staff is friendly, courteous and knowledgeable. They go out of their way to assist you in any way they can. The facility is comfortable, clean and welcoming. There are more programs and activities (all free) than you can imagine. The hours of operation are set so there is a convenient time for you to visit no matter how busy you are. Their inventory is vast but if there should be an item not available they will obtain it from their partner libraries in the shortest time possible. Not finished with an item by the due date? No worries, it will be automatically renewed whenever possible and notification will be sent to you. Oh, they discontinued late fees! They have delivery availability if needed, on line services and a book mobile with regularly scheduled stops throughout the community. I could go on but I think you get the picture. The Fountaindale Library District is where I get the best bang for my tax dollar! read more

I love this library and try to visit their 3rd floor every couple weeks. This is a very large library that is always busy. The first floor has the kids library that is quite vast. It has many sections that include a large play area with puppets, puzzles, bean bags, a play house, oversized chess set and checkers. There is also an area with large long tables with rolls of paper you can tear off and do art work. There is a children's magazine section and family bathrooms. The bathrooms are pristine and smell clean and fresh. There is also a cafe on the first floor. The second floor is where the rental section for movies is located. There is also a media section with current and back issues of newspapers and magazines. The 3rd floor is my favorite. It is where the adult book section is located. There are lots of comfy seats everywhere and also tables for computer hook up. They have lots of private rooms with glass walls and doors if you are working on something and u need privacy and quiet. I love the self check out. After check out you can have receipt emailed to you, or printed to put in your book bag reminding u which books are due when. This is an awesome feature. When I take out books for the grandkids, I send the receipt home with them, so mom can know what is due and when. This place could not get any better. read more

I love this library! Growing up, my parents lived in unincorporated Plainfield so we didn't really have access to a town library. Because of that, it made me appreciate and value everything that the library has to offer. Fountaindale has a variety of activities and programs available for various age groups. I've been able to take classes on painting, watercolor, drawing, and cupcake decorating just to name a few. There's also multiple apps that you can download that allows video streaming, music, audio books and ebooks. If you want to learn a new language, there's Mango for that. If you want to learn new computer skills, Lynda is available. I can honestly keep going and going on about how amazing this library is and I haven't even talked about Studio 300! They have an array of creative programs available in the studio including recording booths that allow you to check out music equipment. There's a 3D printer and a maker machine that allows you to create pretty much anything your heart desires! Stop by and see everything that Fountaindale has to offer! read more

No time limit in parking lot - never realized time-limited library parking was a thing until visiting this area, and the one-hour limit at a nearby library was just ridiculous. That said, private study rooms are for library card holders only. Which seems especially silly given that half of them are empty at any given time, and they're completely visible from the info desk, so it's not like the library need worry about abuse of the rooms. read more

Thank you, kind people of Bolingbrook (myself included) for the narrow passing of the referendum to build this new and larger library. I did like the old one, but it had seen better days, and had minimal space. The new building is absolutely beautiful. Three levels of bookish nerd-dom, and I love every inch of it. More room means a bigger selection of books, movies, and music, along with a few updated computer labs, study areas, and designated quiet rooms. I love the new layout, especially with the comfy couches and easy chairs spread out along the windows on the top floor. It's wonderful to sit and read, curled up with the sun shining in on you. Most of the checkout and return services are self-service now, but there is always a helpful librarian around the corner to help you out with whatever you need, from finding materials to helping with the new checkout systems. Since there are so many self-service kiosks, there is never a line for checking out materials. Be warned: You can pay your overdue fines at a machine as well, but try to bring small bills, unless you want to be paid out in all change. The library now also has three or four new meeting rooms for local clubs and always has child/young adult activities going on, as well as book clubs and computer classes (minimal fees) for adults. Also on the ground floor, you can find the Brooks Cafe. Serving up some great coffee and specialty teas and drinks, makes the visit even more enjoyable. read more

Best library hands down!!! I stay walking distance from the Romeoville library, and the Romeoville library isn't a good library compared to the bolingbrook library. So I travel to the Bolingbrook library which is only 10 minutes away from me. The bolingbrook library has everything, plus they have tons of activities to do at the bolingbrook library. I've been to many different libraries for employment reasons, and bolingbrook is as good as it gets. read more

Descent library. I love that they have a quite area where I can study and that the place is so lit up with natural light. Sometimes though, the sun will toast you especially if you're wearing a black hoodie. The quite area is on the third floor in the corner and has it's own room. They have a place where you can buy food/candy/coffee on the first floor. It's kinda expensive. Overall, this is a nicely set up library and has a section for adults, teens, and kids. And they adopted to the new generation with USB charging ports everywhere and easy access to outlets. Both the outside and inside are super clean too, I love clean. read more

What a beautiful addition to the library! The kids and I can spend almost all day here. When we get a little hungry, boom we stop for a snack how convenient. Or we can always hit up one of the many places close by and come back. Yes I said come back with there som much to do and all. The more you learn the more you earn. What great service, even for hard to find books. If they don't have it, they have the ability to order it from almost anywhere on our side of the country. A book lovers dream come true. Bigger doesn't meant better! They still don't have a lot of the books I'm looking for, but that is why they are connected to other libraries that borrow from. I often just use my computer to put books and things on hold instead of looking for several reasons: 1.They say it's in but I can't find it-so I'd rather they do the work 2. They have to get it from another library. 3. I can't run in and grab stuff like I use to because it's gigantic! I have had run ins with the staff saying I didn't return something-with their new system this hasn't happened because everything is pretty much computerized. I'm not sure what the staff has left to do anymore! read more

Nice library with lots of ambiance and resources. This library has a huge selection of DVDs, graphic novels, and even has a digital media floor with sound and video studios! I've been going to this library my whole life, since it was the "old" Fountaindale, and I love it -- it feels like home. Even when I moved to New York for a few years, I loved their libraries but none compared to this one. The checkout process is easy, their movie selection is great, and the staff is so approachable and well-informed. This was my go-to spot in high school to study because it's got such a relaxed environment, and the facility is gorgeous. I love this place and will always come back forever and ever! read more

I went to make some copies at this library today. I waited at the information desk for about five minutes. I noticed that the receptionist was helping someone, but instead of telling me, I'll be right with you. She proceeded to help the customer and without any regard to the fact that, I was standing there even told me that I could go over to the checkout desk and they would be more than happy to help. So, I walked over to the children's section where the reception clerk, told me where, I could be helped at in order for me to get a library card. I walked over to the check out area where a nice gentlemen said " I was about to walk over to the front to help you" but, you walked away. He then proceeded to help me . I thanked him. I come to this library all the time. It is really nice and open with all the windows and they have a variety if everything you would want. However, the staff in the 3rd floor do not try to keep the kids down. Really distracting for those who want to get things done. read more

I love going to the library. My mother grew my sister, my cousins, and me up on going to the library during the summer. I would join the reading clubs they would have and earn a prize at the end. I also used to attend the summer activities the library would have. But of course since I am older now, I just go to hang on the Internet or to study with friends and check out books. It's a relaxing atmosphere. And most of the staff is friendly. read more

What can I say I've never been a library person but this may have to change!! I've been here before to check it out but never did anything else. Then I decided I needed to freshen up on my computer skills and actually learn the correct way and decided that this place was a good start. I am signed up for 5 computer classes and yesterday was my first one and the instructor (Tom) was the sweetest man. You really feel like he cared about his job! I also found the second American Horror Story which would cost me I believe like $30 to rent them On Demand I got here for 3 weeks for free! Why would you go to a Family Video or Redbox when they have everything here!? ! I also am sitting here going through like 3 magazines that would cost me to buy but I would never get to on a regular day but here in this serene place it seems a lot easier to. I have to find more out about this library but I am not so pissed anymore about my tax dollars being spent here, hell I may as well use it!! They have a little coffee shop right when you walk in that is very nominal! As I am not a reader but I love all the other perks this library offers!! read more

In an age when publishers began noticeably declining in number and strength, and when technology has rapidly advanced to make access to the Internet and e-books nearly ubiquitous, there was a push to bulldoze an adequate as well as its specially-made Bookmobile garage to replace it with a gigantic (and expensive) new building, a measure which easily passed in a village of generally apathetic voters. Now don't get me wrong, I am not anti-library by any means; in fact over the years I have spent many hours at this library, borrowed countless items, participated in several programs, and even volunteered for awhile; I am aware of the various resources available to the community. I just ponder whether something a bit more modest (or even a remodel of the existing facilities) would have sufficed. After the facility change-over I did have to get a new library card as well, over the course of three visits (1st time they were closing and couldn't help me, 2nd time they told me I needed additional proof of residency, 3rd time I was finally set up). Most recently, following the clearing of my grandmother's estate, it only made sense to donate her large book collection to the library. She was an avid reader and frequent user of the library. However, the staff at the library were noticeably ungrateful, even on the verge of impolite, taking a couple boxes and saying the rest would have to be accepted another day. For reference, as of 2015, over $10,000,000 of property tax revenue supports the library, averaging out to roughly $130 each year from every man, woman, and child living in the village. read more

This library is the best! They have decent book suggestions, the check out process makes everything go really fast. I really like the quiet rooms, study rooms and even the seating areas are decent. It gets a little loud on the first floor but that's no big deal. The online resources are great (like overdrive etc.) plus the staff is really friendly and very helpful (so insightful they helped with my thesis). read more

The new library is outstanding. Clean, modern - you almost feel like you're in a museum! With 3 floors, there is so much to choose from. And they've even got a café! A small one, but what a treat to enjoy coffee or tea while you read. Kids section is ample as well, with plenty for all ages to enjoy. I love the study rooms, just what I need for homework.

I've been living in Bolingbrook for over 22 years, and never used the library, until a few years ago, when my home PC was on the fritz, and I needed to use a computer in the old library's basement. I too, was amazed when they tore down the old building and put up this beautiful new facility. The computer lab is outstanding, and still helps me get online when I'm having issues at home. Four years ago, I noticed that there is a group called The Knitter's Nest that meets in the library twice a week, and is free. I've been a dedicated member ever since. Let me tell you about this program. It's called a "drop in", because it requires no registration, you just show up on Monday nights from 6pm-8:30pm or Thursday mornings from 10am until noon. Did I mention that this is for crocheters, too? We all help each others with stitches and patterns. We have yarn exchanges, where we bring in our unused skeins of yarn, and trade them with each others stashes. Sometimes people just want to brush up on their skills, and come in for assistance, which we gladly offer. The rooms are big, and the tables can hold around 20 of us comfortably. You can grab a cup of coffee downstairs in the cafe, and sip it as you work. Our group is friendly, and welcomes strangers of all ages, and genders. One of our top knitters just happens to be male. The library doesn't offer any free classes or "boot camps" for knitting or crocheting at the moment, but I'm sure if a beginner were to join The Nest, they could have their pick of instructors. I'm the colorful one with the purple hair. I make knitted outfits for myself, and love having such a portable hobby. Fountaindale provides a peaceful setting, but we can still talk and laugh. There are plenty of books available on fiber arts that you can check out too. Just ask for directions at the front desk, and they will point to to the location of the nearest knitting group, because Monday's is usually in First Floor Meeting Room B, and Thursday's is on the Second Floor Board Room. read more

It is one of the largest libraries among all south-western suburbs of Chicago. Lots of resources. However, the staff are not as good and professional as the Plainfield or Naperville libraries. The parking lot is huge. Location is nice. Lots of activities. read more

Love the fact that everyone seems to know me when I walk through the door. I love the Friends Cellar where you can purchase books and also help funds go back to the library.
