I enjoy this small, community library. The staff are knowledgable and are always very helpful.

I've been attending the Nightfall Story Time with Ms. Katie with my daughter. It's an online story…read morehour that happens most weeks. Today we (well, I) decided we should head to the library for the in-person story time to meet Ms. Katie! The story time was great; we read a few books based around a theme and sang several songs. After all the songs and stories Katie brought out a bunch of toys for the children to play with and they loved it. The kids area all regulars and know what's up because they recognized the games and were ready to play. The librarian knew all their names and when she came to thank us for coming (since we were the newbies!) I mentioned that we wanted to come in person once since we have been doing the online story time and she remembered my baby's name. Without me prompting her at all--she remembered her from the one or two story times we've attended on zoom. That was so very sweet and honestly, Ms. Katie is just the best. If we lived closer to this branch we'd be here often (unfortunately Ravenswood is about 30 minutes away even when there's no traffic). The library itself is quite nice. The children's section is great. There's some lovely artwork at the library including a beautiful wooden sculpture in the main reading room. The auditorium is where the story time and other events are held, and there's also a nice outside courtyard with three or four benches. The branch also has naloxone for patrons to pick up. McKinley Park has a small lot with about the spaces, which was plenty for when we visited (and we were late!). There's also ample parking on Wolcott and 35th as well.

Small space, limited private areas- a single table at the back to charge your devices. Decent book…read moreselection.

There's a bicycle rack out front as well and benches to sit also. Impeccable building and nicely landscaped; well maintained. You'll find community posts on the boards to either side when you walk in. There is Reception to the Right as you walk through the inside double doors. Just ask; they guide you. Public Libraries are for everyone to use and enjoy; respectfully and with care! Your knowledge is your power and your literacy is that path. Not all communities can offer such nice facilities , as such here and it's wonderful to see it available. Nice job Cicero. Com mon ; the Dewey Decimal System! So much fun to learn and explore. My adult kids still remind me of the Summer Book Reports I dished out; they remember the Books as well! Words on the pages are what open our minds. Residents; you need your Cicero ID to get a Library Card; So you can check out books. Join Book Club. Read to your kids! Parents:Guardians; your kids need their picture taken for the computer system, to get the card. They issue the card with their name, no pic. The pics are for the receptionist to know if it's the correct kid checking out the book/items. Different areas of the library to explore. They have their Calendar Posted as well. Fantastic place to get a break out of the sun this summer and really enjoy reading ! Celebration of Literacy
