It's larger than many independent bookstores nowadays and has a great selection. I stopped by and immediately found a book I was interested in, but I would have browsed longer if I hadn't been itching to see as much of New Hope as I could on my first visit there. The customer service was very friendly, and the shop is really cute. If you're like me and independent bookstores are a must when you're touristing around a new place, Farley's should be on your list when you visit New Hope!

I was initially delighted because it was so well organized and every section seemed to have a generous offering of books. The children's section was particularly large and had books for kiddos of all ages. My sister and I were also excited to snag Farley's Bookshop tote bags to rep this adorable store once we get home. As a bonus, the cashier was super friendly and eager to answer our various bookish questions.

But it was 3 o clock, and I was on a mission--to avoid super-turnpike traffic and to purchase a book. Well, I bought three. The County Bookshop is up a few brick steps on the right side of the street. Saw the name; had to go. Used and out-of-print books. I broke into a smile. An old home converted into this bookshop, it is a fitting dressed-down arrangement. Entering, there are rooms to the left and right. At the right rest philosophy books, and near the register first-edition copies of books. One I saw was a C.S.Lewis story. These books are not in the most beautiful condition, and many seem to have been gifts with cursive notes scrawled in the covers. But these little rooms are not all! Browsers can wander further to another room, and another after that. Each section is distinctly labeled. Signs even direct you to poetry and literature. There is everything from philosophy to travel to gardening and food to French lit and surely beyond. The best is yet to come. Outside sits a rack of books for 35 cents. Inside, there is another near the cashier, where each book is 50 cents. The gentleman, presumably the owner, was soft-spoken and had no idea what to say other than Thanks when receiving praise for the store. Perhaps he isn't used to it, since apparently there are other book stores in the very near vicinity. Buck County Bookshop is what I saw first, and walking out with Philosophy of Science ($7.95) Intro to Mathematical Philosophy ($10) and World Orders Old and New ($7.50) I was pleased with myself. I bet the other stores didn't have these books!

The store has a modest selection in my opinion but enough across different genres that you can probably find something. You know how some used bookstores carry books from the 1900s that makes it pretty hard to find more recent ideas. This place carries pretty recent publications (like within the past 20 years). Pricing was fair (2/3 off retail) given the nice conditions of the books. The cashier was a pleasant lady who was nice and friendly (without being overbearing).

What I like about this bookstore is everything is well curated and organized and there isn't an overwhelming amount of books. It's mostly popular titles or current titles and you can easily pick out books to read. They had a small seasonal section as well which I picked from. I bought 5 books each were around $5 or so which is such a good deal . I spent $27 in total. I'll definitely be back when I'm in the mood for a current book to read, it's much easier than browsing thrift stores and the like. The girl at the counter was also nice to boot ! The store is spacious and well organized and has a great selection. Every book on the shelves is in great condition, and they have a lot of recent best sellers. They have fun displays, as well as one for banned books, which I love. Most books seem to be in the $7-$10 range and they have a mix of hard covers and paperbacks. I always leave with several books in my arms. The employees are always friendly and helpful, and they seem to take the time to get to know the regular customers. If you're looking for a particular book they don't have, they'll make a note and call you when they get a copy then set it aside for you to come in and pick up within the next couple weeks. And adding to my love of the store - they have a bookstore cat! I haven't had the pleasure of meeting Webster yet, because I'm always there on his day off, but I look forward to meeting him sometime in the future!
