When faced with hundreds of potential companies that "do tree work," many of us feel "out on a…read morelimb"--and that's not even counting the amateur contractors with chainsaws. Finding a reliable tree service can be stressful. Paying money upfront only for the crew to disappear, companies failing to show up on time, or contractors performing poor work and still demanding full payment. How many times have you been overcharged for additional work? Luckily, one of the three companies I called was Green Valley Tree Service. Marco, the owner, is a straight shooter. I received a fair price for great work; they arrived on time, cleaned up thoroughly, and there was no nonsense. If you need tree work--whether it's cutting, shaping, or bucket work--give them a call. Sure, call a few others for reference, but I guarantee Marco won't leaf you hanging. (Pun intended.)

I dropped them this year after losing several trees and shrubs to disease over the past few years. They always "sent samples" of the stressed plants for "testing" but never came back with a reason or were able to nurse the plants back to health. I gave them the ax this year when they were unable to bring a mature, stressed Japanese Cherry back to health and recommended I pull the tree and replace it. Instead, I aggressive pruned the sick and deal limbs and branches and fed it. Today the tree is thriving again. See photo. For the money they charge, they should have greater expertise and success.

My first job was very delicate - on frozen but thawing ground, they had to precisely fell 3 trees that bordered the tee boxes, not disturb the finely manicured grass on the tees, and then remove alot of my debris so that their golf course customer wouldn't be upset. Work was stellar! Second job was was equally challenging - needed them to climb several trees adjacent to the first job and remove specific branches so that my view of the course was opened up. The work (and most importantly, their CLEAN UP) was absolutely perfect. And they were so flexible in asking me (from way up in the trees!) if they'd gotten the branches that I'd needed or if I needed any others removed! Throughout, Mike was great about letting me know in advance what I could expect in terms of potential changes and the timing of when I could expect the work to be completed. I could not be happier with the quality of the work, the result and the price. I recommend this firm wholeheartedly and I plan to use them again.

In 2022, I petitioned the Town of Greenburgh to enter into the sewer district. A step I had to…read moretake before I could add an extension to my home. Town officials and inspectors were not familiar with the process which was anxiety producing and time consuming. Years later I got to the tree removal permit portion of the project. I contacted multiple Arborists to assist. Davey Tree connected me with Paul Vega and I couldn't be more grateful. Paul quickly stood out against the rest of the bunch and with just 1 call I knew our search was over. When describing the scale of the project Paul advised it was best that he come out to the property. I was worried about timing given the aformentioned and ther imminent upcoming holiday. Other Arborists wanted to come out as well but couldn't do so for weeks even months. Not Paul, he made it out within 24 hours. He was polite, super knowledgeable and extremely helpful. He got right to work reviewing my survey and plans. He took measurements and the time to educate my elder father and I on the various tree species (amongst many other related matters). Paul gave me exactly what I needed for the tree removal permit application. Then the Town hit me with requests for additional info not initially required to file. Although his work was technically done, without hesitation Paul helped me get the info they were asking for. The Town then decided we need a landscape plan to proceed. Again, despite completing his work, Paul contacted the Deputy Commissioner of Community Development and Conservation to learn more about why the ask and more about the process firsthand. He helped me to ultimately understand and ascertain exactly what the Town was looking for. He was my Arborist, teacher, advocate and liaison. He significantly simplified a complex emotionally charged process. Paul went wildly above and beyond and without him my project would have easily taken much longer and cost much more. I am very grateful for his support. Paul and Devey Tree are consummate professionals whose foundation is built upon the principals of integrity, respect and empathy.
