Our experience was absolutely the worst with Westhawk properties. I wouldn't ever recommend anyone to rent from them. The office was absolutely horrendous, everytime I would call I would get attitude.
The maintenance staff (Daryl and Becky) were awful, probably the worst part of our whole experience. Becky is the most ignorant insensitive snob I have ever met. The first time I met her, she gave me attitude and was completely rude for no reason whatsoever. So the staff fired them and hired a new man who harassed the tenants in our building (talk about doing background checks). After that incident he was fired and Daryl and Becky were rehired, much to our dismay.
Parking on the street was terrible, there is never enough room for anyone. Trying to park our truck behind the building was so tight that we could barely get it out (I'm pretty sure it took us 10 min each time just to pull out of it).
Our towel rack fell off the wall in the bathroom and we called Daryl to come fix it (which he never did get around to doing. We told him about it in August and by the time we got our damage deposit back in December he had still not fixed it). When we got our damage deposit back, Westhawk properties were going to charge us to buy a $50 towel rack and to fix the wall. First of all if they had put the towel rack into the wall properly it mightve actually held towels, secondly they didn't need to buy a completely new towel rack when the last one worked perfectly and probably cost them $10 at Walmart (it was the cheapest towel rack I've ever seen). They also were going to charge us to paint the entire bathroom because of the one towel rack. Apparently they needed to get a sample and get all new paint even though we had seen all the paint that Daryl kept in the basement storeroom. If we had not called the office to complain then I'm pretty sure they would've taken alot more from us.
When my boyfriend and I decided to move out (before our lease was up) we asked if we could find a roommate to be with our current roommate. They said yes only we weren't allowed to advertise on any social media. How were we supposed to find a roommate? Eventually we found a lady and they said they refused to approve her because of the age difference between her and our current roommate. Seriously? Is that really in your job description? Since they wouldn't approve anyone, we had to continue paying for the apartment (as well as our new house) for 3 months after we weren't even living there, and since we weren't living there we had to give back our keys which didn't make any sense to me, as I thought we should still have access to something that we are still paying for. read more
