I find this place confusing and frustrating every time I go there. They have every shop you could want, which is probably part of the problem. I always end up parking at the WRONG end of the behemoth single story centre (this is why building up is a good idea) and then need to do a 20 min power walk to my destination. They also seperate major competitors by the length of the centre in some kind of Highlander move (THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE), so if you want to compare Myers vs DJ's you're going to have to walk and walk and walk. My biggest gripe is the addition of paid parking. I had to do last minute wedding shopping (mother of the bride dress, bridesmaids dresses, beauty stuff - all 5 days before because I LOVE ADRENALINE) and ended up dropping about $800 there. When I left we'd been there for about 4 hours and I had to pay for parking!? Mate, here's some free advice, if I'm at your child filled, noisy, confusing shopping centre for 4 hours it's because I'm spending money there, not because I'm kicking it at the food court with my teenage mates. Plus, it's just a blatant money grab. They haven't installed extra parking or more services, they've just decided to take your money. If I was one of the retailers I'd be well pissed as I'm sure I'm not the only customer deciding to go to Indooroopilly when I can't avoid a shopping centre. I ended up sending a ranty email to centre management, and last time I was there I was happy to see that they've introduced validated parking if you spend over $150. Not thrilled though, as I think $50 is enough to warrant free parking and you can't validate at stores, you've got to go find centre management which is no doubt 3 kms away from where you're standing. read more

Westfield Chermside is the third largest shopping centre in QLD and the sixth largest in Australia, with around 370 stores and restaurants, including a 16 screen cinema complex and a 26 lane bowling alley. It is the main shopping centre servicing the North side of Brisbane, it is pretty easy to get to, and parking isn't an issue most of the time. I would prefer to visit Chermside over the city any day of the week. Parking is free for the first 3 hours of your visit, and maxes out at $20 for the day after 7 hours. You can also avoid having to pay anything for parking by showing up after 6PM or by spending over $200 at the Westfield on the same day, and visiting information. Valet parking is available for the low rate of $5, and is great for those days where you cannot find a car park anywhere. There is also a car wash that will give your car a clean whilst you are shopping. Whether you feel like going shopping, seeing a movie, getting a quick bite or visiting a restaurant, these is something for everyone at Westfield Chermside. read more

Massive shopping centre. Largest in Queensland (yes, it beats out Carindale), and 5th largest in Australia. This place has serious shopping credentials. Both DJ's and Myer, JB, Kmart, Target, Big W, a whole host of speciality stores, and Brisbane's first Apple store. It's all here. They did expand a few years ago so you have the choice of two food courts now, the old one is your bog standard food court, but the newer one has somewhat swisher options, including a bar with pub meals. Throw in a cinema and bowling alley, and you can easily spend a whole day here. Of course, there's the rub. They said too many commuters were parking there and taking parks away from genuine shoppers. Have to admit, I never did have trouble finding a spot when it was free. But now you pay for parking after three hours. Sure, popping in for your weekly grocery shop isn't going to take you three hours. But browsing numerous stores in the largest shopping centre in Queensland, throw in some lunch, and you can easily break the three hour barrier, especially if you decide to meet a friend and catch a movie, or toss some big balls down the lanes. Spend enough and get validated, or just make sure you're out before three hours is up. It's an obvious money grab from Westfield that has harmed the tenants. Patronage plummeted, and I can tell you, it's nowhere near as busy as it used to be. People are returning, but not in the numbers they used to. The upside is you can always find a table in the foodcourt now, even right on midday. Anyhow, I've had to stay on three stars. Being conscious of time when I want to do some shopping around has me rushing around and feeling far less relaxed. read more

Westfield Chermside and I have a love/hate relationship. Where it loves me because I'm awesome and I hate it. No, no, not really. There are just a couple of things I can place on either side of the scale. Love: choice. So many stores, so many eateries! I love my sushi, and there's a couple of sushi joints. I would argue the take away sushi in the new food court (which is the Woolworth's end) is better than the train - but I'll save that for a review of them. Hate: size. It's just too big. But I guess that comes with having so much choice, yeah? Love: location. It means I don't have to go all the way into the city and get everything I need. Hate: people. Gosh. So many people. And don't even get me started on the amount of people during the school holidays *shudder* Love: parking. This is pretty dividing for people. There is now paid parking, but the first 3 hours is free - and honestly I don't want to spend more than 3 hours in a car park. It's also free after 5:30 if you're looking at going to the movies. I generally park in the same spot because everything I need is at one end (everything I need consists of the Apple store and Woolworth's), and I can always find a park there. They also have those green light things for undercover parking when a spot is free so it's a little easier than driving around aimlessly. That's about all I have. I want to complain again about people, but where there's a good shopping centre people will flock. Who am I kidding, where there's air conditioning people will flock. read more

What can you say about a shopping centre? I find I often go to shopping centres with this idea that it'll be AWESOME cause I'll be able to buy ALL THIS COOL STUFF and it'll take NO TIME cause all the shops are SO CLOSE. Then three hours later, after some disappointing sushi, I leave with six CDs from JB that I didn't really want, wonder why I came, and vow never to return. Until next time. It must be the greatest piece of marketing EVER that we can't seem to not go to shopping centres. How do they do it? When it comes down to it I pretty much want to go to JB, and maybe look at a bookshop (if they even exist anymore), and perhaps glance in a Myer or DJs. That's it. So I guess it's the latter two... Admittedly, it's really great for "shopping around" if you know what you're looking for: you can very successfully walk between the five different shops that sell the one product, compare prices, and play them off against each other. And Chermside is great for that because there actually ARE five (or more) different shops selling the same thing. It's also quite a pleasant shopping centre to walk around once you get over all the people (take a day off work and go during the week. seriously). If you enjoy aimlessly wandering, it's also good for those reasons. But I always imagine there'll be some cool little shops that will have all sorts of quirky cool things in them and there... aren't. It's all the same stuff at those other shopping centres (well, multiplied by five). IN SUM: if you enjoy shopping centres, Chermside is among the best, because it's so big and has really high ceilings (those older ones were always so claustrophobia-inducing (and probably not up to code?)). If you don't like shopping centres, fear not: you (like me) will be back anyway. read more

Chermside, a massive shopping complex that I often call Brisbane's answer to Melbourne's Chadstone, well it's not quite that big..at least not yet. If you live on the inner north side of Bris Vegas or let's be honest anywhere in BV, chances are you've made the pilgrimage to Chermside at one point or another. It kinda has everything one would need in a shopping mall. You can spend hours at Chermy and still be exhausted before you've been in to explore every store thoroughly. I think it's fantastic that it has both Myer and David Jones as well as Woolworths and Coles, because us savvy shoppers all know they stock different things and it's grand to have them all under the one roof. At Chermside, you can do it all watch film, buy a gown, go Christmas shopping and then end the day by posting a letter and doing the grocery shopping. Impressive! There is also an extensive strip of pubs and restaurants accessible from the street that has a wide variety of cuisines. My only beef with Chermside is that you have to pay for parking after 3 hours, which I understand has pushed customers and staff to clog up surrounding streets. Uncool. read more

Ahhhhh - my local shopping centre: The Cherminator (or Chermsizzle, if you prefer). Coming from America, size-wise it seems rather standard to me as far as shopping malls go,but according to Wikipedia, it's the largest in QLD and 3rd largest in the country. But, I think that must be why people flock here. And, hey, - it's my local. I know where things are, so the size doesn't phase me. Class-wise, it's up-staged by Queens Plaza in the city, but you will find generally what you're looking for here (unless it's Laboutins or Jimmy Choos) and the parking is much easier (and cheaper on the off-chance you end up having to pay for spending less than $150 in-centre after more than 3 hours). read more

While is does have a lot of options for shopping and dining, it also is usually quite a busy place. I steer clear as much as possible and avoid it as much as I can around Xmas, Easter and end of financial year due to flocks of people. Parking on site can be difficult. People like to complain about the new pay for parking at Chermside Shopping Centre, but I don't really notice a difference in the amount of people still visiting this shopping centre. It's still just as busy on weekends and a struggle to get parking. You do only pay if you've been there for over 3 hours, and I find it pretty easy to get all my shopping done in under 3 hours. So honestly I haven't had to pay for parking very often at all. My suggestion for parking is avoid the underground parking - everyone wants the shade. Go up on to the roof and brave the sun, you'll have a better chance of finding a park. There's a hidden pocket of parks up on the roof near the Goodlife Gym. It's a bit of a maze to get there, and then you may have to walk a bit to the shop entrance, but you can easily find parks up there. Chermside has two main food courts. The one down near Woolworths and Dan Murphy's has nicer food court food - less fast food chains, plus there is a Wagamama and Sushi Train if you want a restaurant experience. The other food court has the fast food chains, but a couple of food highlights - Salsas Mexican which is yummy fast food, and Grill'd Burgers which is outside and an actual restaurant. read more

This place is massive. Around 122,000 square meters of retail space - Westfield at Chermside really does just have everything. Heaps of parking available here, too. Lots of people complain about the cost of parking here, but the do offer the first 3 hours free. And if you spend more than $150 in a single day and you're parked for more than 3 hours (this is actually very easy to do here!) then your parking ticket is validated and you're not charged. In school holiday season you barely want to be here for more than is absolutely necessary so it's not really a problem. Huge food courts, mall space is always kept clean and tidy... it does get VERY crowded at times so if you're anything like me it can be frustrating walking behind slow people and mobs of screechy children. But that can happen anywhere! read more

At around 1.4 km long you don't need to take up a gym membership here to get a workout. But if you are looking for a cities worth of outlets in one place this is it. The major supermarket brands are represented at each end with their homeware cousins located centrally. With every boutique brand you could shake a stick at rounding out the in between, even the iPeople are looked after. I thoroughly recommend the Westfield app, if nothing else you get a map. If you can spare the $5 valet parking is great when its packed for getting on with what you came for. I'm not fan of the food court, the look and acoustics are like the inside of an ice cream container. But the sprinkling of cafés throughout make up for it. My main draws are JB's, Dan Murphy's, Connor and Event Cinemas. But most of the major chains represented have flagship sized stores so you'll be hard pressed to miss out on much. read more

Definitely an acquired taste, I've grown to enjoy this noisy, busy, crowded Mecca of shopping delight. First you have to choose where to park, underground or roof? Either way, get ready to walk a long way because there's two food courts and both of them have different options. For example, if you want Starbucks and Mexican food, or Salad and a movie, either way that's 15 minutes of walking.. but you'll get to see a lot of shops in-between. I decided to give this place a browse since I work down the block in Prince Charles and this mall is much bigger than I expected. It didn't look that big from the outside but I was pleasantly surprised. Overall, great selection of stores and I found some pretty good deals. read more

Put your walking shoes on, people, because Westfield Chermside is a massive sprawl of a shopping centre and you're bound to clock up some ks on your trotters. I'm not a huge fan of shopping as a recreational activity, particularly when it comes to shopping centres that are packed with generic stores, but if looking for a place that has just about every chain store imaginable, plus plenty of eateries, Westfield Chermside is it. The only reason I've had to go there is to visit the Apple Store, the only one in Brisbane. Each time I go, I have to walk from the bus stop side of the mall, through the mall and all the way to the other side where the Apple Store sits. This is what I mean about wearing good shoes. If just wanting to go in and out, Chermside is not ideal. If, however, wanting to spend a couple of hours leisurely perusing and engaging in consumerist bliss, you'll likely find yourself contented. read more

Having worked here for most of my teenage life I detested Germside with a venomous passion. I have a number of grumbles about this place, but my top two are: 1. This place racks up a tonne of money in rent, but when it rain's it shows more leaks than the titanic. (Where is the cash monies going?) 2. Having been robbed here I can also attest to how paunchy and apathetic the security dudes are. (I was told that my crime had to be confirmed on CCTV before I went to the cops.) (Also don't even get me started on the tyrannical paid-parking scheme.) Aside from these issues (and esp. being free from the shopping-towns daily menace.) this place now feels a hellava lot nicer to walk around. It's a couple of K's worth of track, so you can enjoy that caramel macchiato guilt- free. read more

This shopping centre is one of the only ones in Brisbane open 24 hours over the Christmas season - which is pretty impressive for a Brisbane shopping centre. For you last minute gift givers, or just wanting to browse the shops in general over Christmas. Don't let this fool you though, parking has just been made a premium here for shoppers who are there for over 3 hours, you now have to pay. And just because it says 24 hours doesn't guarantee you every single shop in there will actually be open to my disappointment... most are though so you'll still be able to actually browse shops. Some great deals can be had here, but my shopping centre will suffice, Chermside might boast the size and shopping hours, but it is a bit daggy and far away for me to drive. read more

Visiting here on a school day is good. Shops and car parks are available. The only thing I would suggest for Chermside would be to have more phone charging places or docking station. We are growing up in a world where our smart phone are used for shopping etc. read more

I will preface this with the fact that I'm a shop a holic. Chermside is MASSIVE. I've been to a few big shopping centre including some HUGE ones in the U.S. and Chermside would have to be up there in just how massive it is (for only 1 real level). The lay out, while straight forward, is actually quite confusing and I've misplaced my car here a couple of times (never happened at any other shopping centre). There is an excellent variety of shops at a range of prices and there is really something for everyone. There are Cinemas, 2 food courts and more than a few places to have a coffee or a sit down meal. You will need to pay for parking (annoying) but only after 3 hours. The parking can get a bit ridiculous however unless it's at the time when they are doing the 24 hours straight shopping at Christmas you should be able to get a park, you may just need to walk. read more

I love Chermside. Most things that someone would need are located in the shopping center although a Lincraft or Spotlight would be nice. As a family we are at Chermside a lot as it makes for good exercise and a nice break from the Brisbane heat. First 3 hours of parking are free and they have a decent food court. read more

If you want to lose money then don't go to this Gym. I cancelled two memberships in writing - one on 28.5.13 and the other on 11.6.13. Today I find that they are still deducing payments from my bank account. When I call to find out what is going on I am lucky enough (not) to speak to the same rude woman I spoke to initially. Strangely, today she tells me that she has not received either of these faxes which is a blatant lie because one son changed his mind about the membership and went to use his swipe card and was told his membetship had been cancelled. Westfield Chermside is amazing!!!! It has pretty much everything! It beats Carindale, Indooroopilly & Garden City and is the 5th largest shopping centre in Australia. It offers an Apple Store, which is awesome because there's not many Apple Stores in Brisbane, besides Carindale, MacArthur Central and a couple of other Apple stores in the Brisbane CBD. It offers two food courts instead of one. It offers Woolworths, Coles, Target, Kmart, Big W, Myer, David Jones, Harris Scarfe, Event Cinemas & Jb Hi Fi . All under one roof! There's a Goodlife Health Clubs Gym above the food court near Kittyhawk Drive ( surrounding street from the centre ). And Westfield Chermside also holds a Dan Murphy's Liquor Store as well as The Chermside Tavern. And a few other restaurants by Kittyhawk Drive and Gympie Road. Westfield Chermside also holds an amazing 600+ specialty stores. As well as markets that operate outside on the weekends. Westfield Chermside also offers a Rebel Sport. Which is pretty cool as there's not too many sporting goods shops. Overall, this shopping centre is fantastic :) But I don't agree with the Pay for Parking situation. As this shopping centre does tend to get EXTREMELY busy. But overall it's awesome!!! read more
