I love Westfield Carindale! I don't think, from memory, I've ever visited and not enjoyed the experience. I bypass three other closer, smaller shopping complexes and drive straight to Carindale. Took my kids, now 40 and 37, often and now take my grandchildren. I love the renovations, major stores and specialty shops. The parents' rooms are always clean and well appointed. Love the Event cinemas. Plenty of great coffee shops. Late night Christmas shopping is always a favourite time for me. Thanks Westfield Carindale. read more

The love of Carindale (like all the biggest stars, it's only known by one name) has been handed down through the generations of my family. My Mum passed down her passion for this place to me and my sister in law - and now we're handing down the pleasure to my 3 year old niece, Olivia (who loves it) and 14 month old Renzo (distinctly unimpressed). So why does this slightly ugly (from the outside) building inspire so much devotion in the female members of my family? Well, for those times we can't be bothered traipsing into town, Carindale pretty much has everything we could need. Except, perhaps, a chic cocktail bar. But I live in hope. Myer, David Jones, Sportsgirl, Dotti, Portmans, Witchery, cinemas, grocery stores, mobile phone shops, sports stores...it's like a one-stop-shopping-utopia for all our needs. With carpet. Yep, to this day, it's the only Westfield I've been in that has carpet. It's not particularly nice and occasionally gives you static attacks but I kinda like that it gives Carindale a strangely unusual USP. Even my friends in London laugh at my Carindale obsession (I've recently relocated back home after a lengthy stint living in London). Every email they send me usually starts with "so, how many times have you been to Carindale this week?" (I don't usually answer as I'm slightly ashamed that sometimes it's so often I feel I should take a sleeping bag and just move in). As Westfields go (and there's a gazillion of them in Brisneyland) this is not the biggest (yet) but it soon will be. I'm positively giddy at the fact they're spending $300m making it even more ginormous. For me! According to the website, it's due for completion in late 2012 and "will include a new parallel mall over two levels, a new full-line Coles supermarket, a relocated larger-format Target and a new dining precinct. Plus approximately 120 new stores including a range of Australian and international designers." Readers, dreams can come true. read more

Westfield Carindale - Shopping Centers Near Me - Carindale, QLD

Easily one of the better shopping centres we've visited in this part of Queensland. Had all the stores you'd want, lots of food options and coffee places (though none of the standout ones), plus a play center (We Play) where you can drop off kids for a fairly hefty fee (but worth it if you need the option). Good layout (not that crazy long format that many of the centres have, making it difficult to go from one area to another) and lots of lifts and escalator walkways, so easy to get around with strollers or shopping carts throughout. All the children's clothing stores were grouped together, which is very thoughtful. One objection: don't charge for parking. Ever. If I'm there for hours spending money, I don't want to be charged. There is a sign that if you end up spending more than $200 you can get your parking validated by the concierge, so don't forget to bring your parking ticket in with you if you are planning a large shop. The absence of many maps in the center is also annoying. Have them everywhere or have more information kiosks in the center of the mall, not tucked down hallways. I also prefer one larger food court rather than 2 or 3 separate ones, but that seems to be the norm in Australia. Overall, though, I would definitely make this our go-to option if we lived in the area. read more

Shopping centres are so 1990, I know, but if you were keen on being a Mall Rat once again then I'd pick Westfield Carindale. With its new face lift I forget I am in Brisbane. I feel like I'm in Bondi Junction which is more about Westfield's designs being consistent across all centres than anything else. Here you can wander in air conditioned comfort while enjoying FroYo from Treat Frozen Yoghurt and even taking in a decent meal from the non-food court strip including Guzman Y Gomez burritos. Plus there's shops. Lots of shops. That's probably a good thing for a shopping centre. Take in tea from T2, wander Myer and David Jones, and all other usual suspects. If you've got a mission to shop til you drop, then I know you can easily spend a few hours (and hundreds of dollars) at Westfield Carindale with great ease! read more

You can absolutely tell that millions and millions of dollars have been pumped into the newly refurbilished Westfield Carindale. While there are particular areas where upgrades need to be completed, on the whole the chic new look puts Westfield Carindale in the top couple of shopping centers in Queensland. The whole place has cool flowing aesthetics, bold colour schemes and great lighting and there is an obvious continuation of design features throughout the different shops. The new section definitely caters for children and young families really well with the likes of Gumboots and Pumpkin patch as well as introducing some new urban wear shops like Glue. With both Kiki k and typo my stationery fantasies are totally becoming a reality and once my shopping is over I always seem to find time to work through another menu item in Chocolate Pavilion. read more

Carindale is your typical shopping centre, most common retailers have a place inside this newly upgraded phenomenon. JUNE SALES are in full swing with quite a few bargains waiting to be found. So many specialty stores are popping up with the very fun addition of Max Brenner in the commonly known "new food court"... Yes, it does have an old and a new place to eat. In terms of Coffee shops, the feel is very much a "been there seen that" sort of feel, BUT there is coffee nearly everywhere you turn. Make sure if you work in the centre you keen an eye out for the lovely 10% off purchase deals around the place. It really is lovely! read more

I don't quite know why Westfield Carindale has always left me cold. It's probably because I hate shopping malls, so when I absolutely have to go to one I want it to be massive enough to take care of all my shopping needs. It's desperately in need of a refurb (which is coming) and I'd like to respectfully suggest they rework their car park too. It's taken me 20 mins to get out this hell hole before. I'm sure the centre itself is functional but for some reason it always strikes me as the kind of rental house where you can smell damp carpet. Note, I've never smelt damp carpet here, it's just the Mabo (vibe) of the place. Oh, and the last time I had to visit there was this ridiculous hip hop / dance / beat box group on centre stage which were TERRIBLE (I heart the Beastie Boys so I'm not averse to this kind of music) and so freakin loud my head almost split, leaving me to dementedly pin ball back and forth between a Prouds jeweller and a Michael Hill before I found an exit point. read more

I'm not certain why, but I've always found Westfield Carindale to have a slightly depressing vibe. It might largely be the lighting, which seems to throw a dimness over everything. The fact that most of my 4-5 visits here occurred during the middle of the day on weekdays, when the centre is not at its busiest, might have contributed to this vibe too. Or it may be genuinely depressingly outfitted here. It wasn't until I saw an image of the proposed renovations they're doing at Westfield Carindale that I realized how dull it was and how cool it will look. There's a fusion of retro 70s and light modern hipness to the face lift, with the walls and furnishings predominantly themed brown, gold and beige (it looks better than it sounds). There's also some light-coloured wooden plank-like light hangings, which look a little like they came from IKEA, but there's no shame in that. Until the renovations are locked down, the food court doesn't escape the vaguely downbeat vibe, what with the expressionless and customerless workers glaring at nothing from behind their counters. However, come Saturday the food court is pumping with families and the negative vibe invariably dissipates (unless you sit by a table of screaming children who wanted different McDonalds Happy Meal toys). Despite my little bitch and moan earlier, I've certainly got positive memories of this place. After all, this is where I bought my box set of Doctor Who. (PM to Whovians: this was during the days of Tenant, it just came out and was allegedly sold out everywhere else. I was floating on pure nerd-air.) In terms of what's on offer shopping-wise, it's expansive. This feels like one of Westfield's larger stores; and if it technically isn't, there's a sense of it. The number of shops here are ridiculous, endless and I've ended up separated from friends a few times. The female clothing stores are obviously a focus, with lots of brand names but also more obscure shops with cheaper prices and some golden items. There's a lot of homeware stores, discount outlets and a cinema. read more

It's a shopping centre! Is good especially after the expansion they did a couple of years ago. All the stores are here. They have 2 food courts, gym, an indoor playground for kids, a beautiful library and a medical centre. They do lots of activities around the year and you'll find a deal or 2 all the time. I'm a northsider, and Chermside is my turf, so I was in enemy territory on this visit to Carindale. My brother has moved nearby, so I thought i'd check it out. Sure is big. Being multiple levels, it can be easy to get lost, but it didn't take long to get my bearings. Any shop you want could be here, plenty of shopping, plenty of food, including bars for those after hour drinks. I feel like it's been refurbished recently, and some stores look far more swish than their siblings over at Chermside. What a great place to shop. Like all Westfields, your time is limited by the paid parking, so you're better off going elsewhere if you want to see a movie and grab a bite to eat. read more

If I was a songwriter, there'd be a Ballad For Carindale somewhere in my lyrics collection. Westfield Carindale has been my go-to big shopping centre for the last eight years. There's something about the carpet underfoot that comforts me, perhaps in the way it muffles the sounds of the hordes of shoppers (compared to the noisy tiled floors of Indooroopilly and Chermside). For the past year or so it's been a little awkward while undergoing renovations, and my first trip there since the renovated and expanded section opened was a little anxiety-inducing, but this was perhaps my fault for heading in there specifically for one item. I wasn't ready for the renovations to be finished, so when Target wasn't where Target used to be, it was very upsetting. This panic was soon offset with some lovely teas from the newly-opened T2 store. The renovated section is super funky. There are a lot of "hangout" spots in the middle of the wide corridors, where a handful of mismatched chairs and couches are arranged on a circular rug. I am a sucker for mismatched chairs and couches. I haven't even sat in any of them yet, just admired them. Perhaps we should have a Yelp meetup at Carindale to hang out on the mismatched chairs and couches, because I'd be up for that. Go check out the renovations, enjoy the new carpet (I'm so relieved that they didn't get rid of the carpet mojo) and find all the shops you've lost by using the touch screens. THE FUTURE IS HERE. This shopping centre is okay I guess. It's probably the best on the Brisbane East side. Besides the major renovation a while ago, the food court was never renovated. Why? The food court is in need of some tender loving care... This shopping centre is quite large and has pretty much everything! Although, it is still easy to get bored here for some reason. Shopping centres like Chermside or Indooroopilly, I could easily spend a whole day there. But here, no. Even though it has thousands of shops... The shopping centre is planned and set out in a confusing matter. It is extremely frustrating to find a car park on weekends and the centre gets extremely busy! I find that the lower floor near Coles... Is set out and planned exactly like the new food court in Westfield Chermside... It's like they copied each other! I still prefer Westfield Garden City or Westfield Chermside as this shopping centre is just frustrating! read more
