The only thing you can't buy here is dignity DFO stands for Direct Factory Outlet and is pretty much a cheap place to score brand-name clothes. If you're fairly new to the whole DFO thing, then you're in for a treat because you can get some pretty great stuff for half the price. If you're looking for things like work shirts or golfing attire, then this place is great for that too. You've got brands and various forms of clothing styles for anyone looking to go to a cocktail party to someone wanting to play basketball. There's a ton of parking and depending on where you live, it's relatively easy to get to. Just follow the highway up to the Airport and you'll be fine. Big ol' factory outlet place near the airport. The 24 hour Woolies is definitely a bonus, but I guess the actual DFO part is all about shopping. You can find pretty much everything here; except electronics? I don't recall seeing any electronics/black/white goods. But will you find a bargain? I have to say, yes. A pair of shoes I looked at was $80 in the DFO outlet, $120 in other shops. WIll that be the case in every store? Maybe not. But being factory outlets they do seem to have a larger range than other stores that stock multiple things. Downside is there's no late night shopping, 6pm close every day. read more

There's a trick to shopping at DFO, a centre of factory outlet stores and that trick is to go in with no expectations. Just because you found amazing boots for $75 (down from $190) last time doesn't mean you'll find an equally splendiferous bargin the next time you visit. As a lot of the stock is end of season or just what didn't sell in their regular stores the items available are always hit and miss but I guess that's part of the challenge, right - finding something in amongst the pile of nothing? Boo. DFO was a bit of a saddy pants day for me. You've really got to have a few hit and misses with this bad boy. Make sure you plan! Have a backup if DFO didn't have your groundbreaking bargain. Some shops really try to trick you into buying- when really, they're priced the same as your 'non DFO' shops. I must admit, i did get my favourite foundation and a beautiful dress for dirt cheap, but my overall experience was a let down. Some of the best clearance stores have been given the boot which is a shame. If you're a dude, get into Roger David. Compared to the full price stores the old seasoned stock is at crazy crazy prices. Portmans usually have a stunning deal waiting to be found too! OH and check out the $3 everything bookshop. That's always cool. In terms of food- please wait until you get home to eat. I'm just not sold on DFO. I'm not even sure why. I never find much that I like, and end up only buying things for the price that I'd never look at otherwise. Anything I actually go for never seems to be on sale. And the food court always seems packed. Ugh. I feel this is too negative. There are a lot of things here. Plenty of shoes stores, clothes stores, underwear, sports wear. I just don't think it's great. There's nothing wrong with, but I think if I go looking around a shopping centre I'll find just as many bargains, if not more. I'm still not convinced with the premise of DFO. The fact that you have to drive TO THE AIRPORT to buy slightly cheaper brand-name clothes doesn't seem quite right to me. I don't care how low the prices seem, whenever I have come here I have been pretty disappointed in the clothing. My option's are usually limited to: too big, too small, butt ugly or butt ugly and still the same price as in town. But at least for us girls we have a large variety of stores to pick through, from portmans, seafolly, jeanswest and levis to Queenspark, forever new and Dotti. D.F.O. is alright. It's packed with popular clothing and accessory companies (e.g. Portmans, Witchery, Jay Jays, Cotton On, Industrie, Wallace Bishop and Adairs amongst the homeware offerings). And as it's a Direct Factory Outlet, most of the time the stock is cheaply priced. I find this DFO to be hit-and-miss: on some visits you'll find pieces of gold, other times you'll find dull or unappealing items. One constant is the place is packed on weekends. Trying to get a spot in the food court is almost impossible: you have to kind of stalk families that look like they're preparing to leave. The high turnover of customers at the tables mean they don't get cleaned as often as they need to (the tables, not the customers - but vice versa is occasionally true), so you'll probably find your table decorated with what the last guy couldn't cram in his mouth. One key thing newcomers should be careful of is the turn-off to get to this place. If you don't take the early exit (not clearly marked), you'll miss the turn off and then, my friend, you are on your way to the airport. For those few directly coming from the airport: you'll be fine. But 95%+ of us are coming from the city, and it's confusing as the factory is on the other side of the road and you must exit on the left-hand side to get there. I only really come to the DFO if I need shoes, certain gym gear or bags. 50% of the time I find exactly what I am looking for - like the time I came a month ago and I got a pair of $200 boots for $60 - the other 50% of the time I think to myself "why on earth am I here!". Had a pretty good run today at DFO, the place is usually cheaper than a retailer and if you live in the area there is a 24 hour Woolworth nearby, so Thursdays is late night awesome, but I have come here before and been pretty disappointed, the sales are usually okay, with some cheap cute jewellery for $1 or $2 but I think the issue is variety, if you don't need clothes don't bother going, it's just hundreds of stores selling the same kind of thing at 40% off... Which is fun if you have a wallet full of cash and a girlfriend for a shopping day! It's also actually pretty damn good to get guys clothes, ladies - if your man hates shopping like mine does, but is fussy about what he wears, this place is perfect, it's all on sale, it's all in one building and there are heaps of options, Tarakosh, Yd, Billabong Connor etc etc. Just throw him in there and close the door haha. read more

When it comes down to the crunch, everyone likes a bargain. We especially like to be able to buy good quality designer items at outlet prices! For this reason alone, it's always worth a trip to DFO. There are 2 DFO complexes in Brisbane - one next to the airport and one over in the western suburb of Jindalee. Don't expect swanky stores or attentive sales assistants here as these are factory outlets. It's crowded, clothing racks are often in disarray and they more than likely don't have a wide range of sizes/colours in what you want. A trip to DFO is akin to a trip to IKEA for me. For starters, it's a land of all caps. It's also exhausting and you tend to spend far too much on stuff you don't really need. Saying that, you can get some good bargains here. Barkins is always a good stop, and the Sheridan outlet is great. My problem with this DFO is that not every store is an outlet or sale store. The Tony Bianco shoe shop is full priced, and most of the other shoe shops aren't much better. So shop carefully, as you might be better off saving your pennies to splurge on a proper shopping trip to DFO Melbourne. read more

I think if you're coming to DFO you need a plan. Either: *come with no expectations *phone ahead and ask a specific outlet if they have what you want *go in with high expectations and leave thoroughly disappointed. I had free trips on my go-card all weekend so I thought this would be an inexpensive opportunity to finally scope out a few of the outlets I had been interested in. Every time I come here I always seem to think the same thing "I thought It would be bigger than this". Admittedly it's really small, think: two wareshouses adjacent to each other divided down the middle creating two aisles. There's quite a big variety in the types of stores available, everything from menswear to kitchenware, although It's disappointing that there isn't a n electronics/hifi retailer there apart from one Sony shop. All round pretty meh. A great discount centre, with lots of different stores. Fashion, homewares, and a food court with a good choice of food types. The brand stores sell stock at a cheaper price than their high street stores, and sometimes you can find stock that's still on the high street but at a cheaper price. If you're on the airport complex why not stick your head in and have a look. read more

The DFO's were OK, but nothing partiularly impressive. I spent a good part of a day looking, hoping to find an outfit or two. I came away with a good deal on a pair of shoes, but unimpressed with the selection at most shops, and not excited by many of the "discounts," especially having visited the DFO in Melbourne, that had much better prices (and selection, but that was to be expected). None the less, it seems like a decint place to kill time browsing for a deal. Look out for the crowds and unexciting food court. read more

There is a real ART to shopping at a 'Factory Outlet Mall'. As Lani P has said if you go in with NO expectations then you're ahead of the game. Having shopped in a couple of DFO's now the layout is pretty much the same and they are very no frills on the inside. If you can, check out their website before you go as they will sometimes have offers, VIP cards or discounts. Be realistic about the prices that are usually charged for items (if you have your smart phone use it to compare prices) but go, have fun, there are some GREAT bargains to be had and found. It is a great way to pass the time while waiting for a flight. There are some cheap eats and coffee. Just don't forget that it's meant to be a factory outlet....it's not going to be fancy. read more

You have to know your stuff. My advice before buying is cross referencing using a smart phone or internet source, of course on items you can. I was told and sold an item for $160 that was supposed to be much much cheaper than the retail stores only to find it was 2 dollars cheaper at dick smith electronics when i got home and googled the item. I highly recommend that you do not shop at the Roadhouse DFO Brisbane. The manager of this store (short, fat, bald guy in his 50's) is very unreasonable and can quickly turn toxic. I purchased clothing in the store that later shrunk to an unwearable size when I washed it in cold water. I returned to the store to ask for a refund stating my case and the manager bluntly refused to listen to anything I had to say and would not provide me with a refund. He totally caught me off guard by publicly humiliating me in his store in front of other shoppers. I was in absolute shock to see the change in his personality from the pleasant service upon sale to the absurd unreasonable and rude behaviour when returning the defective product. I find the Airport DFO much better than the JIndalee DFO. Lots more variety of stores and better prices in my opinion. I like to go every 3 months or so because if you go too often, it's the same stuff over and over. I think prices are good but you do have to do a lot of browsing to find things you would actually want to buy. read more
