In addition to the highest quality items it is the service that distinguishes this kosher market from any that I have been to. If you need anything at all there is ALWAYS someone not only there to help but HAPPY to do so. The meat/fish department is like no other. Sadly not quality. Cilantro I bought fresh, was bad when I opened it. Next time I bought good grains crackers, upon opening it a faulty smell. Crackers are old and smelled moldy. I really wanted to like this place because pico Robertson is so far away but sadly I can't trust them with produce. read more

Came here yesterday morning 12/31/2020 about 9am. Asked if the carried skirt steak. Was pointed in the right direction. Grabbed the steak and red snapper. Didn't think to check date on any packages till I got home in Gardena. Opened the steak and it was slimy and smelled like cheese. That's 22 dollars in the trash. Check the red snapper and had an expiration date of 12/31/2020 that's another 15 dollars in the trash. That was my 2020 New Year's Eve dinner. If the place stocks spoiled meat that are a pretty shitty business. Kosher my ass!! read more

I live in Northern California. There are no kosher food markets anywhere in the vicinity. Western Kosher provides a wonderful overnight service; they freeze and Fedex your order. You can order online and there is usually someone at the store who is responsive and will answer questions that you may have about the availability of certain items. I have always found them to be courteous and considerate and understanding of the difficulty of being in a location where, essentially, they are a saving grace. Even if there is an occasional mistake, I take it in stride because they do their best to accommodate. The staff is personable and professional and will go out of their way to take care of you. read more

Since I live over 400 miles away from Western Kosher, I have to rely on them to deliver good quality meats. I was not disappointed. I ordered brisket, chicken and ground beef. They delivered excellent quality meats, on time and very well packaged and still frozen. Including delivery, their prices are far lower than the local Kosher store. Living "out of town" and keeping Kosher is not always easy but thankfully we have our monthly delivery from Western Kosher. I honestly can't say enough about the service that they provide. Food in deli is good. Moroccan carrots and moroccan fish are my favorites. Sushi to go was good too. Produce section is small (you can get fruits and veggies anywhere though). Aisles can be small so watch out for other customers, especially just before the holidays when this place can get busy. Good for Passover! They clear the store of anything that can't be eaten during the holiday so you don't have to worry about buying the wrong thing. They have their own parking lot! read more

Do not shops here...they are arrogant and nasty. They were not wearing masks, as mandated by the city. When I asked the, to put a mask on , one employee smiled and one said he was vaccinated. I,told hi. It didn't matter as we all must wear a mask,when indoors and mandated by the city. With that he asked the,other employee to,take down my license plate number and began to,film me as I got into my car. The next day I called the pick,store and spoke to someone who,was not very bright. That evening a guy named Mendel,called ma and asked tme to relay the story again. I told hi,e to speak to,Simon. This Mendel was very ignorant and just didn't get it. I said I wanted a personal apology form the man that was so rude and that I wanted, david, the owner to call me. These people are an embarrassment tot he community and the arrogance is disgusting. I will tell everyone I know about This experience. I will also be calling the Los Angeles Jewish journal to do a story of this disgusting behavior. Do not shop here. Tell everyone you know. Shame on them read more

I never write yelp reviews but I have to shout out the staff at both Pico and the Fairfax location. I desperately needed chicken fat to finish my mothers prized Thanksgiving recipes. I went to one location they were out and they arrange for me to pick up at the other location without even having to leave my car. I see very little downside to this kosher food store at all. Their Fairfax store is conveniently located close to my home, they have the products I am looking for, they are very accommodating without being overbearing, their prices are reasonable given that it is a kosher food store...I will say that I am disappointed that they apparently no longer sell that great chopped liver that they used to sell. Also, I wish that they would sell whole milk plain yogurt. Overall, though, I wish them continued success for many years to come. read more

I have to admit I'm a little disappointed. Granted I went in there at lunch on a Friday, so of course it's crowded and busy for Shabbat, but I think the staff needs to get things under control, EXPECTING how busy it will be on that day. For such a small space it felt very chaotic. Service was not great at checkout. I walked up to the register and they told me to go to the back register. Then they told me no, it's ok, go to the front register after all. Then the guy ringing me up answered the phone and paused the transaction to finish the phone call. They seriously need some extra staff on Shabbat. Also, I know they're hassled and busy but they did not have to be rude to the poor woman who came in to the store asking for food. I know she was begging, but that begging got passed on to me, the customer, outside the store before I entered, and being a good Jew, I bought her the milk and the kosher salami she wanted (although I stopped her when she started lengthening her grocery list). Couldn't they have found a way to politely escort her out, explaining to her that this is a business and they can't give handouts? Or maybe even give a little tzedakah on Shabbat. Sheesh. The whole reason I went in there in the first place was to get some wine to take to dinner that night. Heads up-- They don't have wine. They told me their other store on Pico has wine. I've been to kosher markets. This place is good in a pinch, but with such a small store, selection can be kind of limited. It's good that it's near my work if I need something (besides wine) to take with me to dinner, but if I were cooking a kosher meal myself, I'd probably go elsewhere. read more

This is one of the WORST kosher market I've ever been too. The two male cashier are the rudest men I've ever seen. I had to ask three times for somebody to ring my things up. The guy was eating in the back and talking to the girl of the meat department, he acted like I was his biggest problem and sighted when I asked him if he could help. Told me he was eating while laughing and then finally came to the register. No Hello, no how are you, no have a good day. I don't know if it's because I'm a woman and all of a sudden he wanted to act so religious with me (even though he was giggling and talking with the girl working there so, hello, not really frum to me) but that was really disrespectful. The second time I went there (I don't know why I came back) the other cashier was on the phone the whole damn time. Like, how is that even normal? He didn't even acknowledged me and was actually really upset having to ring me up. I worked in a kosher market for a year and a half, I know that customer service is not necessarily easy. But those two guys are not putting even the smallest effort to be nice. They are acting as if we're bothering them. Maybe it's time to change your job if you guys are so bothered by customer spending their money in your store. It is simply ridiculous. read more

Do not go to this place. The guy there whose last name is Katz is extremely rude, particularly if you're not Jewish. You're better off going to the other Jewish market that's only one block up, where everyone is much nicer. read more

When i walked in i had to ask for the plastic bags to put the vegetables in. I filled up a cart, asked for someone to check me out. Waited and sited, asked again.... I then had to walk out of the grocery store today because there was no one to check me out. That was after me knocking things over because the store is small and crates and stuff everywhere.
