Checked in almost at 11pm. Their standard check out is 11am. It is raining for hours with no taxi and requested for late check out at 12pm but they declined saying each and every guest of their rooms will check in at 11am. Unbelievable! I have never been to any hotel that doesn't allow late check out even for 1 hour. And yet, this 'budget motel' in this very little town. The are 4 other hotels in town tho. Too bad this is the only one available from corporate booking. Why no value? Price is more than 2.5-3 stars (big) hotels, it doesn't justify for the room or service you get. Room is smelly, air cond is dirty that you can see a lot of dirt on the blower/vent itself, fridge is not cool even set to the coldest, no freezer in the fridge, microwave is rusty, only 1 clean bath towel the rest are 'dirty' (look almost grey and worn out almost like rugs), pillow is smaller than standards, blanket is stained, carpet is stained, electrical (power) points are at odd places (by the door or next to sink) the others doesn't work. No wifi in lobby/breakfast area. The counter and lobby is fully utilised by the family members like a house. Computer that served as business center has kid's youtube singalong and tricycle in the way. Dad (Sanjay) manages the front desk while daughter is sitting on his lap, and sometimes run around calling daddy n grandparents seated at the lobby. Maybe that is their home/living area. Front desk (Sanjay) could not even print a statement or receipt upon check out by saying we can only produce it after 2pm. And the check out time is 11 huh? It does not matter if premises are old, but it must be clean and operator must know how to manage/operate a hotel business professionally. Does it even meet the 'standard' of the franchise? Perhaps the mgmt should do un-announced checks often.

They did bring us replacement comforters. The walls have drywall patches everywhere. The plumbing was leaking and falling out of the wall in some places. The towels were so thin and tiny. The toilets leaked. The smoke detector was hanging off the wall and obviously not working. The dust, dirt and grime were everywhere. The shower curtain in one of the 2 bedrooms we rented was so gross that we all chose to use the shower in the other bathroom. We had to let the water run for a while because it was brown and smelly. They shouldn't even be allowed to rent these out! One bedroom had no where to hang clothes and thw manager told us there was a closet in the living room are we could us. That closet did not have a light and had old furniture and other crap stocked up and no hanging rod. Unfortunately, everything I signed stated no refunds so we knew they would not give us our miney back. The day we checked in the lobby building didn't have electricity. They told my family member just stop back by tonight or in the morning. My family stopped by 3 times and sent the manager texts trying to meet up with her. After we returned from a funeral, the manager showed up yelling at my family member demanding payment. This was after she sent a text message with a photo of her credit card because the manager was not at the desk everytime we stopped by. She said we should have called to make arrangements to meet her. This was ludicrous! We also complained again about the gross accommodations and she said we should have spoke up earlier and she would have moved us. If they had something better why put us in that space to begin with? My family has lived in Columbia Lakes for over 50 years. We have used these cottages over the years but never will again. I have attached photos as proof!

It could also have used a TV but aside from that it was a great place to stay and the view out the front door which is directly across from the water was beautiful. Really like the 2 story deck and fireplaces. Cassady's next door was amazing for breakfast and lunch. Wide variety on the menu and the coffee was great too. This place is a step above the others in Matagorda.
