Coastal Sisters helped us in a pinch, we had some business in surfside and reached out to some friends and they referred us to Coastal Sisters. Upon putting what I thought was a decent review for the stay, since we were unable to stay in the house due to the bed being completely uncomfortable, to the microwave not working, to bugs in the home, as well as cracks in the floor (you could see the ground below the house) at the Lazy Cajun, sand in the couches and bed, as well as TV's not working... I then got rude messages from Coastal Sisters saying they were disappointed in my review - then proceeded to call the people that referred me and had them call and harass me about taking what I thought was a nice review down. Then the friends proceeded to call my mother while she has a heart problem and about to have heart surgery - as well as I just lost my son. I feel that they took this way to far and I told them I would give them a good review and I thought I did for the circumstances (which I never mentioned in the first review) This is very upsetting and very unprofessional - At this point I will NEVER use them again! Unnecessary drama, just to get a good review, when you knew your property was unfit to rent! NOW here is the real review!

My family and I rented SANDY FEET RETREAT through the Coastal Sisters. They were accommodating with our change of plans when they did not have to be. We stayed three nights (Friday - Sunday) at this beach front property. My family of four appreciated all of the upgrades and renovations that had been done to the house. We were vacationing in Surfside because we needed some beach time and this house was perfect for our needs. We walked out the door and over the bridge and we were at the water. So close that we could run back for lunch or bathroom breaks with ease. And the little touches like rinse off shower before you get in the house, A/C in all of the rooms, large deck with picnic table and high Adirondack chairs for the best views, all added to our delight.

Just got home from our second summer rental from Coastal Sisters. The last two summers Sharon has been very responsive and accomadating leading up to our stay and while we were there. Last year there was an issue with the dishwasher and the maintence guy was there first thing the next morning. This year I had some issues with the neighbor's behind us blaring music until after 2am and Sharon was on it! I always tell her what we're looking for and what we need and she puts me in a great house. Very responsive to texts and voicemails and there has never been an issue with getting our full deposit back in a timely manner. I've recommended several friends to use this company and they've all had great experiences. Will definitely plan our vacation with her again next year!

Plenty of homes to choose from with Coastal Sisters, but this review is specifically about Pete's Retreat: a FANTASTIC beachfront house!!! Awaken to the beautiful sunrise, watch the waves from the deck, walk to the beach, swim/boogie board/skim board/surf, build a sand castle, surf fish or go on a fishing charter, have a bonfire & cook S'mores, watch fireworks, chillout in the comfort of this lovely home... We did it all!!! It may not look "fancy" from the outside, but it's the location, amenities, and what's on the inside that made it perfect for our family of 4 (& it can easily house more!). Pete's Retreat is located 4+ miles up Bluewater Hwy from 332 bridge at Public Beach Access Rd #3. This section of the beach is "County Beach," where no beach tags are required to drive on the beach. Concerned about being "on" the access road? No worries & if anything, it provided huge entertainment watching vehicles stuck in the sand being pulled/pushed out of the drifts! No need for a boardwalk/sticker-burred trail: just walk to the beach! Convenient covered parking under the house and hose + shower on the landing to wash off from beach excursions. 1 of my favorite aspects was the locking door at the base of the main steps: kept kids & dog inside, and everything else outside (1 home rental we had didn't have this & though it was a time that we openly invited area kids in, there wasn't any "control" of privacy) - call this door "double security"! The lovely deck isn't fully covered, but the FRONT row view of the Gulf is priceless especially after the sun moves behind the house. Inside: seems bigger than the pictures on the website! Lovely living room (wonderful seating options & huge flat screen TV with Satellite), dining room, & very workable kitchen (washer & dryer in kitchen has extra precious countertop space atop), & WiFi. Funky "wallpaper" bathroom! Master bedroom: the ONLY disappointment of the house with it's double/full bed (hope it's upgraded to a queen/king!). The other bedroom has 2 twin beds & a small TV with video player (DVD? Didn't look). Best part for us: the Loft! 1 queen & 2 twin mattresses provide ample space & fun for our kids! Furnished with board games & books, plenty of drawers/spaces for your belongings, grill on the back porch, & the essentials in the kitchen...it's a home ready for at least a week's stay! 4th of July provides an INSANE BONUS! Fireworks are EVERYWHERE! No need to buy any or endure any crowds: just kick back on the deck for HOURS of free entertainment! Pete's Retreat is absolutely on our list of places to stay again! Coastal Sisters is a fine property management team, and we have no hesitations to rent from them again. They were responsive to our needs & answering questions. Check out time is firm: cleaning crew arrived at 11:05am! If you stay at Pete's Retreat, we hope you have as much of a wonderful time as we did!!!

Drive Way

While the location was nice and very close to the beach, the house was dirty and in disrepair. Found hair in shower and on the linens. The internet was flaky and hard to use. The Refrigerator door was hard to open as it was too close to the kitchen wall. The house was big it fit all of our guests however it is outdated. The beds make noise, the fans were horrible and loud. The overall cleanliness was not satisfactory. A lot of mold and fungus around the shower door, and there was no bathroom mats. The staff was rude and very slow to respond to requests. Communication was very lacking and we had a problem getting a response. I found a pair of panties in the dryer and when I spoke with Sharon basically she said nothing didn't apologize didn't offer any kind of discount. There were ants all over the inside. The furniture and dining table and chairs were filthy, the couch actually had a white covering on it that could have been taken off to be washed. And it was horribly dirty, we had to cover it with sheets in order to sit on it. If you know there are going to be a certain number of guests sufficient trash bags, toilet paper and paper towels would be great. We had to go to the grocery store to pick up some additional toilet paper. Drive way (parking spots) were horrendous. Mud everywhere, very slippery and unsafe for the whole family especially my three year old. The outside shower was completely unusable full of dirt and weeds!!!! Overall not a family location at all, maybe good enough for a guys fishing trip maybe not. Would not recommend KOKOMO beach house or any houses run by coastal sisters!

This is the second year we've rented a house in Surfside Beach. Everything is always clean and well cared for. When we've needed assistance, 979 was quick to help. The first year, we asked to get the yard freshly mowed, and someone showed up in 30 minutes. This year, Surfside experienced a power surge and blew out our WiFi needed for work. Within the hour, tech expert Lillian brought a new unit, connected everything and got us back online. We love to come to Surfside every year, and really enjoy the house I've been renting. 979 makes it easy. Very responsive, good folks.

Upon arrival the outside of the property was disheveled and looked like we were walking upon an occupied residence. There were toys, trash, unused cans of sprays scattered about the yard and property. There was also a pickax literally laying on the patio like someone left it there, along with leftover piping and a shovel, etc. Once we entered the home we were smacked in the face with an intense animal urine smell. It is stuck in the carpet and it is terrible. It was very hard to sleep with it the first night. The next day I went to Walmart and spent $100 on candles to cover the smell and make it bearable. But also, there are areas of the carpet that are lifting and not tacked down. The exposed tacks are a hazard and unsafe to walk on, not to mention they are rusty. It is incredibly unsafe for adults but also for little ones who crawl like my 9 month old grandbaby who joined us on our vacation. Upon arrival the night of June 29th, we could not find the multitude of bunkbeds for the kids that are shown in the listing. There was also one more room missing that had an adult bed and a bathroom with a shower and a half bath that we could not find. We went under the house and through the storage area to find a dead bolted door beyond the storage area. We hunted for the key only to find this is where the three bunk beds, extra adult bed and bathroom and half bath were located. This hidden area is where the majority of the children's beds are located, with three bunkbeds, meaning six of the childrens beds are in this concealed area. There is no way to access this area from inside the home. It is secluded and can be easily accessed by an uninvited party without knowledge of the parties inside the actual home. Down in this area the second bedroom room was damaged and unsafe. There was a 4 foot by 5 foot cut out hole in the ceiling. Hanging from this area were 240 volt electrical wires, a sewage pipe that was leaking next to the bed below, some exposed insulation and honestly an unsafe environment that was exposing anyone who might sleep below to rodents or bugs that might be in the ceiling. There was mold along the wood. I did not pay $5700.00 to spend a week in these conditions. I was devastated and honestly humiliated. We brought two friends with us, but were also expecting family to join us as well. We were handicapped and limited on finding an alternate home that would accommodate our party of 13 safely. In this area we also arrived to a toilet that had an unattached toilet seat. I literally felt like we walked into the animal house. This is a blatant oversight that should not happen when a property management company and cleaning crew are preparing a home for a one week stay. We heard from multiple beach residents that this was a known party house. Makes more sense that we were met with such a feral environment. I was very suspicious that the home was not thoroughly cleaned. I decided to wash the bed sheets. In one of the beds I found a pair of purple socks in the foot area inside the sheets. My children also complained about sand in the beds. Dryer full of rust and ruined four of my Ann Taylor garments. The lacking water pressure prevented us from being able to take showers at times or even wash dishes. When I text the phone number to let them know the pressure was lacking significantly again they responded and said the entire island was having issues with water pressure. Interestingly enough, our friends on the next street that were a stone's throw away, had great water pressure their entire stay. It's really hard to wash dishes for 13 people with a small stream of water. Although location next to the beach was nice and we loved hearing the waves so close, it was honestly the most terrible vacation I've ever had and it is the most I've ever spent renting a house on Surfside Beach in the handful of years we've been going.

No real issues…read more However, when we got there, someone else's flip flops were waiting to say hello at the top of the stairs...so to the bottom of the stairs they went...there were clothes left in the dryer from a previous tenant. There were dirty dishes in the dishwasher. The house has a lovely beach feel to the house, until you pull back the covers on the bed and then the sheets look like my great grandmother lives there (ok no big deal) however, I don't know if someone else has been sleeping in those sheets?? We stay in Surfside 3 or 4 times a year. We have stayed at various houses and they always put the sheets folded at the end of the bed to ensure the house guests knows the sheets are fresh. At any rate, the house that we normally now rent at was booked. So we chose Mr. Zuhair Hillail's property, Truly Heaven on the Beach at 123 Carlton, Surfside Beach, Texas 94103. When we got there and got all set up, we went to turn on the tv in the master bedroom upstairs and it wouldn't work. After about 1 hour, we texted Zuhair, the owner, and he said he would be "on the island later", he lives in Houston, and would come by. We then got it working and told him never mind, we got it worked out. Next thing we know, we are outside and this jeep pulls up and someone starts hollering at us. IT IS THE OWNER. What? What is he doing here...ok maybe he didn't understand we didn't need him. He comes upstairs and my husband shows him the tv is working ok and then he leaves. A little while later he drives by again!!!! (oh and then tv quit working again....we spent the whole week using our laptop. And let's not even discuss the internet....hardly ever worked...so we didn't have TV most of the time (no big deal) but I also needed to get some work done, the internet SUCKED). The next day what happens? Well glad you asked! The owner shows up again, this time to just to get fishing gear out his garage. I told my husband then and there that I thought this behavior was very strange, to the point of CREEPY. In my humble opinion, he had no business, unless it was an emergency, coming to the house that we rented, without some kind of notice. And then he drives by trying to be discreet...dude we see you! Anyways, we leave and leave the house in better condition than we got it. He calls my husband and BEGS him to talk to me to not leave him a review. Anything less than a 5 star would kill his business, he says. My husband tells him, just call my wife let her tell you her concerns and she won't even leave a review. That was June 4 and today is June 9. I'm writing this because he never called me. Oh and I cannot leave a review on the booking website VRBO because he cancelled our reservation so that I couldn't leave a review. So I am leaving reviews everywhere else I can think of. Happy traveling to Truly Heaven on the Beach!

Beach Bunny - Thanksgiving 2013 - 1 week stay, family of 4, from Austin, TX…read more We've stayed here before, and knew essentially what to expect: CLOSEST house to the water! So, it's not the fanciest of accommodations: it's a no-frills beach house in Surfside (which is not a "luxury" area). If you know Surfside, then you know the area. If you are expecting luxury, pick a different beach. Beach Bunny: yeehaw, some nice improvements since our last stay! The kitchen is SO much nicer after renovations - it's usable! Great fridge, oven, & microwave. Coffee pot: annoying break in the pour spout made for dribbled messes. Other than that, kitchen is totally in working order, and well-equipped with the essentials. They have added a kitchen table, which is nice BC we brought our kids this trip (previously, there was only a bar). Living room: yea to the nice futon-couches! If you've seen pics of wicker furniture, be happy that they've been replaced! Nice coffee & end tables. TV in good working order with Satellite. Bedrooms: where you sleep & keep your clothes. Absolutely nothing fancy, but the beds are comfortable & the dressers/wardrobes were plenty for our week's stay. I call it a bonus that there's a TV with Satellite in the master bedroom. Bathroom: all in working order (although a big "#2" might need some help! LOL! Plunger provided, but wasn't needed). Nice amount of space for toiletries. Cleanliness: I, saw 1 roach (not a"billion," as I read). Have no complaints. I didn't inspect deeply: this is Surfside! I washed what I thought should be washed, trusted what I thought could be trusted. Didn't take notice to any cobwebs, or notice anything gross (per other reviews). Porch/deck: AWESOME! I really miss the porch swing! Be sure to bring chairs: the built-in bench faces the house, not the water. Nice picnic table! Be aware of the entry rug: it WILL be wet (seaspray), but nice to wipe off feet! (Tip: bring a wash-tub & keep a towel handy to lessen the sand coming into the house!) The portion that wraps around was a welcome respite from the biting cold wind! Our bag of linens was there as promised: I chuckle that it's all just left together in the bag (sheets, pillow cases, towels, etc), but no matter! Our challenge: it was frigid the first 2 days of our stay. I had verified there was heat (via window units), however, none of them worked (to provide heat). Thankfully, there were 2 space heaters, but needed a 3rd for each of the living areas. Since we arrived late, we were given extra blankets (to make it thru the 1st night), and a nice custodian arrived the next day with another space heater. (also used the oven to heat up the place "ghetto-style" for 1st night - thanks for the tip! Odd to me, but functional!) Water: do NOT drink, threatened illness/death! Ok, it's brown & foul-smelling; wash clothes at your own risk (it's a nice thought to provide washer & dryer, and they are nice units!). The water: not the fault of the Beach Bunny, & we were well aware of this before we arrived (but signing the part about "possible death" for drinking the water is daunting)! Kinda funny: my biggest disappointment = no one informed us we couldn't park on the beach! Last time here, we parked right next to the steps leading up to the house. Apparently, the beach was washed away - 50% gone from our last stay, and no driving on the beach this time. That means: you park "far away" and must hoof-it over the boardwalk to the house...makes for an exhausting unloading & loading! But, this is Mother Nature, not Beach Bunny/Beach House Associates. Kinda cool to have to trek over the boardwalk to your house, vs. trekking over the boardwalk to get to the beach! Though some may not find this desirable (but as a mom, I did!): this house is"kid-central!" The location is PERFECT for kids to gather, as the main boardwalk leads from a houses farther back, so there are quite a few passers-by next to the house. I'm all about welcoming kids to play, so the Beach Bunny became "the place" for gathering (this was all my encouragement, BTW!). If privacy is important: just don't invite anyone up! (last stay here was our anniversary, so no kids, & we had no problems!). What else? This is by far the BEST beach house on Surfside to be in! From the proximity of the beach, to the cozy but simpleton accommodations, if you want to be close to the water: this place rocks! Hope ya'll have a great stay at the Beach Bunny, we sure did!!!
