Sent my 17 year old daughter there to get a simple oil and air filter change. 96.00. Well, fine. I'm working two jobs and time is at a premium. "Brian" tells my daughter that she needs front brake disk pads NOW!!! As in "I'd NEVER put my kid on the road with front brakes like this." Writes it on the receipt- $255 for Front brake pads. Really? It's a 2015 Traverse with 44K miles on it, if that matters. SO the very next Saturday, based on what I thought was an honest mechanic's opinion, I buy 4 new brake pads. I jack up the car, take off the wheel, remove the brake pads, and they're at the most 40% worn....not even CLOSE to needing replacement. Rotors are well within spec. What the hell. I spent the next 40 minutes replacing the rest of the brake pads, because hell, why not...I had already dug out my jack, jackstand, etc. Know that I'm taking the old brake pads to the store and asking them why the hell they so desperately need to be replaced. I HATE dishonest mechanics...and there's at least one here. Don't send anyone there that doesn't know enough to throw the BS flag when warranted. read more

I went in on a Friday to see when I could drop off my truck to get some work done and I was told to bring it in Tuesday, so I made a drop box Monday night so they could have it first thing Tuesday morning. I called back in Tuesday at 4:30 to get an update and was told they couldn't look at it till possibly Wednesday if not Thursday and if I didn't want to wait they could leave the keys in it and I could pick it up. Today is Thursday and I went in to get and up date and I got the same run around that they have BIG JOBS and they can't look at it till tomorrow no later then Saturday. I went in for an inspection and my brake lights were out. No biggie, they said let's go ahead and change the bulbs for you. That wasn't the issue. Okay that's fine, The mechanic comes out and talks to me. The issue was a fuse that was out. My issue is that the mechanic TOLD ME IT WAS THE FUSE AND DIDNT CHANGE THE FUSE. For my friends here who don't do cars, it's a lot harder to change the brake lights than it is to change the brake light fuse. The problem I have is that Jason tells me it's the fuse and does not change the fuse. His exact words were "I'm about certain your fuse is bad" and in my father teaching me how to change the fuse out myself I'm absolutely stunned jason didn't change the fuse. Terrible service for my Virginia state vehicle inspection. I called in the morning for an estimate on the time to complete the inspection. The gentleman on the phone said about an hour. I arrived within 15 minutes and asked again about the timing and the same individual said 1 to 1 1/2 hours to complete the inspection. 2 hours and 40 minutes later the inspection was completed. Additionally two other customers arrived about an hour and a half after me for the same inspection. One was completed and walked out the door just before me and the other was completed and walked out the door just seconds after me. Also the gentleman who works behind the counter could improve his customer service skills. He's not to friendly or engaging with customers. By the way I had to pull off the side of the road when I noticed I had a warning light that my hood wasn't closed. Your mechanic obviously failed to close my hood. read more

Western Auto is probably the worst place to go for auto repairs in York County, especially if you're a female. They try to take advantage and assume you don't know anything about your vehicle. I went to go get the AC in my car fixed, dropped it off first thing in the morning, and asked them specifically if they would call me with an estimate before they did absolutely anything to my car. 3 and a half hours later they call me to tell me they did all of this work to my car, most of which was not included in getting my AC fixed, and then charged me way more than what should have been done. They charged me for oil and the labor to get my oil done and when I told them I didn't ask them to put oil in and that I didn't want to pay for it, the lady at the desk freaked out on me and called me an idiot and asked to speak to my mother. I told her it was my car and I was paying so she could talk to me. I also confronted her about not calling me with an estimate and she told me they couldn't give an estimate until all the work is done. When one of the mechanics came into the room, he continued with the insults, calling me childish, and said they were going to drain the oil from my car and put 1 quart back and that it would take another hour at least. Long story short, if you enjoy being treated with respect, and would rather pass on the insults, don't go to Western Auto. They know nothing of professionalism or customer service. read more

up until today I would have told everyone to take their repairs here. however, Tuesday I went in to have something replaced on the right side of my vehicle, paid for it, expecting that the right side had been fixed, and when my car still had the same symptoms, checked the paperwork, and found they had fixed the LEFT. which didn't even need fixes. I went back to tell them and they said they would order the part and fix it free of charge, which is what would be expected in this scenario. I go in today and they insisted that I was lying and never said right and that I would have to pay AGAIN for the job I ALREADY paid them to do. So if you don't wanna have to spend twice as much money, and time to get the job done, I recommend avoiding this place. read more

This place is a joke, I dropped my truck off here on a Tuesday to have to them fix my heat, the temperature gauge, and the door lock actuator on the drivers side door in my truck. The guy at the front said they would look at it the next day because they were closing at 5 and would call and give me an estimate, I left it there that night. The next day goes by and they never called me to give me the estimate that they said they would so i call around 4:30 the same guy i talked to the day before said they couldn't get to it till tomorrow and that they would call, which they never did. Long story short here it is Saturday, I pick up my truck with no heat and the door locks not even working. So i just wasted 450 dollars and still have to take my truck somewhere else to get it fixed.
