Long before there was Yelp, back around 2003, I had the good fortune to find Mariani Restoration &…read moreRoofing in the old printed Yellow Pages. At the time, I was seeking a second estimate for a roofing job to remedy what seemed like a minor leak. I had already received a $10,000 estimate from a local contractor who declared, without even going up to inspect the roof at close hand, that I would need to replace the entire roof. The representative from Mariani, Mike Basile, arrived promptly on the same day that I called, went up to the roof, hammered down a loose shingle, came back down and told me that the problem was solved. He gave me his business card, and said to call him again if I ever had another problem with the roof. No charge for today's service.
First estimate from local contractor - $10,000. Actual cost from Mariani - $0. The best second estimate I ever did - and probably ever will - receive!
Fast forward some 14 years, to February 2017, and now I have a major leak. The water flowing down from the roof and accumulating behind the upstairs bathroom wall is actually pushing the tiles out of their setting, and one by one they're falling into the bathtub. So of course I call Mariani, and learn from the company's voice mail greeting that Mike Basile has retired. My call is redirected to the company's president, Anthony Mariani. And while we are talking on the phone, he brings up a Google Earth image of my house on his computer screen, and says that I will most likely need to replace a large portion of the roof on the back side of the house, but that the rest of the roof still appears to be in good shape.
We agree to schedule the job as soon as possible, but it will take at least a week for the materials to be ordered and delivered, and a severe winter storm is forecast for the next day. So Anthony sends over his crew that same day to cover the damaged part of the roof with a protective tarp, and while the storm is as severe as predicted, not one more tile falls off the bathroom wall.
After the storm, Anthony came over to my house to inspect the roof in person, and to help me with selecting the style and color of the replacement shingles. In the course of our discussion, he expressed his opinion that the undamaged portion of the roof would most likely need to be replaced within the next few years, and offered me a substantial discount to do the entire job now - an offer which I was happy to accept.
The job was completed over the next two weeks by an outstanding crew of hard-working and friendly roofers, and throughout the course of the job, Anthony continued to stay in touch by phone and in person. He is without a doubt the most pleasant and trustworthy contractor I have ever engaged.
I recommend Mariani Restoration and Roofing with complete confidence, and with a great deal of enthusiasm.
