My wife and I visited here to experience an old school american drive in theatre and that is what we got. Sound quality was good in the car and the usual snacks and rest rooms like other cinemas. We left after the first movie but people looked to be staying for the second,not sure if that was included in the ticket price but if so it would be a bargain. read more

So much fun! 2 movies for $6.75 and what a great way to escape the routine! The snack bar and bathrooms are clean and retro in a 50's- style rotunda. The staff is super nice and mellow. Plus, you can bring your own grub. In n' Out anyone? Oh, and for all the a/v geeks, the sound is fine, broadcasted through your stereo (which is nice cuz it blocks out any stray sounds from other cars or the airport) and the picture is crispy against the dark black Goleta sky once the sun goes down. If you haven't tried watching a movie via Drive Thru, you gotta try it. I miss drive in movie theaters around Cali, since everyone in Cali mostly drives. Then when I heard this place was up and running, I drove over to watch movies the old school way. One of the pluses of watching in a drive thru, compared to a sit in theater is that you don't have to worry about seating and other party conversations. No more old school sound boxes. Its all fm radio tuned. Dirt lot, lowered cars might have struggles around this lot. Tip: bring your own food and snacks and you will never have to leave your car. read more

Excellent value for the money. They double features every night for $6.75, though sometimes the movie pairings are really odd. When I went it was The Last Exorcism and The Other Guys. Weird. I know. But over all, it's a fun evening. The sound comes through the radio quite clearly, and with windows closed you barely hear the airplanes taking off and landing at the nearby airport. It's also nice that you can bring in your own snacks and talk as much as you want without bugging anyone else. And Tuesdays are extra discounted! Family Fun Night, FTW! Things to consider: other cars with their headlights can be annoying, and be careful maneuvering around at night since the pavement isn't all even and can scrape the bottom of your car if you're not careful. read more

I absolutely love the drive-in! Not only is it a favorite past time, but you're in the comfort of your own vehicle and can have to volume as loud (or soft) as you'd like...even talk amoungst one another without having any annoyed fellow viewers. The concession stand is convenient and well priced. I even love that they have banks to drive up so you get prime viewing even from small cars (such as mine). My first time at the drive in since i was a kid... Wanted something different to with the kids and this place was a winner! Not the cleanest or newest place off the freeway in the middle of a very industrialist area but very affordable entry, we brought our own food and snacks and made sure the car battery had a full charge.. and we really enjoyed ourselves for less than 10 bucks. Drive-In theaters are awesome. This was my first experience at one (I'm from NYC and don't know if any that exist around here), and it was everything I'd hoped it be -- cheap, entertaining, and romantic with slightly uncomfortable seating. The great thing about this drive-in is the ability to get a 2-for-1 movie deal, which I'm not sure if it's technically a real 2-for-1 deal, but if you show up for the first screening, you can stay for the second screening. My girlfriend and I watched two movies -- Hotel Transylvania and Taken 2. Hotel Transylvania looked great on the screen, but Taken 2 didn't have enough contrast and a lot of image details were lost. Taken 2 was one of the worst movies I'd ever seen and may have contributed to my negative experience. The audio was crisp without any issues. I don't have anything to compare this theater to, but the overall experience was great, and I'd recommend this theater for a cheap movie night! read more

First off, I love the drive-in. I love the nostalgia, the atmosphere, and the privacy. Unfortunately if you don't have cash things can get complicated. Tickets are $7.50 per person, and they directed me to the unmarked ATM inside the concession stand so that I could withdraw cash. This would have been a minor inconvenience if the ATM was functioning properly, which it was not. I approached the girl at the register, who informed me there was no other way to get cash-back. She was very friendly and sympathetic to our situation, and directed me to one of their security officers. He was surly and indifferent, and told me to speak to the manager, at which point we left and went to the Camino Real Theater. Ultimately I imagine our poor first impression was an unlucky, isolatable incident, and hopefully I will be able to revise this rating in the future. read more

Love it! We have gone multiple times, and every time it is a great experience. The food is good. The movies are good (and where can you get a double feature any more??) The only downside during the summer is that they have to start the movies late (dark comes late!), so you get out really late. But, it's totally worth it! read more

Just went recently with my girlfriend to try it out! I enjoyed it a lot. The location wasn't too hard to find using Google Maps. The earlier you are, the closer you'll be to the screen. After driving inside, you'll be directed where to park. I think they only accept cash or at least they told me that. The rates are pretty fair as well. There is a building where you can buy popcorn, use the restrooms, and etc. But I didn't take advantage of that this time. Also we're told what radio station to turn to, so we can listen to the movie. Most people open their trunk and watch the movie that way. Unfortunately I was clueless and just watched from the front seats of my car. I think it's much better to just face the screen from the trunk, get some blankets, some snacks, pillows, and watch from there. Overall, I highly recommend going to this place as a date spot. It's reasonably priced and I would go here again. read more

Absolutely great. I love this place. You get two movies for less than the price of one in the chilly theater. You get to be outside and snuggled up in your own huge, embarrassing comforter without having to bring a big bundle of blanket through the doors of an indoor theater. You get to recline and bring pillows to make yourself a very posh spot in your car/truck. You can turn your car volume up or town to suit your desire (sometimes the theaters can get so loud!). AND you can bring in all your own food and drink without a hitch! You are also far enough away from your neighbor that small chit-chatter about the movie doesn't disturb them. No shhh!!!-ing. It's pretty awesome. GO for it. bring your friend, a blanket/pillows and snacks. It will be worth it. read more

This is a fun little drive-in that has good snack options and better than expected cleanliness in the bathrooms. Also, staff were friendly and efficient, not easy to come by in Santa Barbara. Everything went wrong when we came to watch Coco. Nothing was the drive- in' s fault but my own. We first blocked the family behind us so I had to lower my Honda fit trunk door with jumper cables. Because of this I unknowingly stood on a fire ant colony. Twenty minutes into the movie, I feel a burning sensation on my hand. I thought it was my own body being weird, but we discovered fire ants had entered our car by latching onto our shoes. For the rest of the movie, I couldn't concentrate and be comfortable because of my crippling anxiety. Anyways, the drive in itself is a nice place to bring the family or bring a date. read more

Okay, the drive-in is such a fantastic place to see a movie and how amazing that we have one! I must say however the screen is in horrible condition. It needs a coat of paint ASAP. I also don't understand why the driveway is right in front of the screen. Everybody's headlights, taillights and brake lights illuminate the screen and make it hard to see the picture while vehicles wait to get in. I also don't understand why it's such a problem for people to turn their headlights off during the movie. It's as easy as just turning your freaking headlights off people. Every time I go here I have to tell somebody to turn off their headlights and they are usually clueless that they were on in the first place. Why not have some sort of bumper before the movie that says to make sure your headlights are off. read more

Wow! I had been looking for something out-of-the-ordinary to do on long summer nights and this is it. The lot looks a little beat-up, but it doesn't need to be fancy... The facilities are simple (but the bathrooms are very clean!) and their concessions are slightly cheaper than at an indoor theater, but the best part is being able to bring your own food and not worry about bothering anyone around you with your elbows or your commentary. The audio is as loud or quiet as you like coming through your stereo, the films are all current releases (as far as I know) and the price cannot be beat (especially on bargain Tuesdays - where else can you see two movies for $4.75?). It's busy but I've never seen it *crowded*! It will become a weekly treat for me and I hope that it is here to stay. EDIT: Perhaps my tastes have changed but it seems like the last few times I checked the movies, the listings weren't so great. Still, always fun to do a drive-in night if only to make fun of not-so-hot films. read more

My only complaint would be for the one older man that works there. We arrived at 7 (because that's what time Yelp said it opened) and we were rudely told that "we aren't opened yet" and were not even given a time for when it was going to open. My boyfriend and I have been coming to the drive-in for over 3 years now and it has been a great experience until tonight. As usual, we like to arrive at the drive-in about an hour early before the showing to get a good spot before they fill up. Tonight was no different. We arrived early at 7:20PM for the 8:15 showing of "Epic" and typically, we are the first one there, but this time there were about 5 cars there before us. As we paid, the male attendant asked if we were going to open our trunk to sit and watch the movie because if we were, then we'd have to go to the back. I told him no we weren't because I don't like the bugs and we both laughed, he said ok, that's fine and we drove off. We go to our usual spot and look at the line for the drive-in get longer and longer. It was getting packed and we saw some bigger SUVs popping open their trunk and attendants told them to move to the back. At 8:35, the movie had started and we get a knock on our window from a guy with a stick in his hand telling us that the 2 racks on my car were putting me over the height limit. I have a mini-SUV and the 2 racks are bars on the side of my car and are not very big or tall. There was no car behind us and it had never gotten in the way before. This would not have been a big deal if they had come up to us WAY earlier before the movie started and we would've gladly moved. However, by 8:35PM, the lot was completely FULL and there was nowhere to go and I was NOT going to move ALL the way to the back where people who had just arrived went. It's not fair that we went an hour early and they tell us AFTER the movie started. I would've gladly moved before it was completely filled because the main attendants that were telling people to move had gone by my car several times but said nothing. The attendant that took my money said it was ok for us to park in the front. If he had said we had to park further back, I would have and there would be no problem. But he didn't. Before everyone arrived, we were the first in the row and it would have been clear to the attendants if we needed to move or not. I'm more aggravated that the fact they told us to move after we've been there for an hour, there was no car behind us, the guy with the stick said that he was there an hour before and did not see us, otherwise he would've told us to move (I have the receipt where the time is stamped on and the only reason he came out was because of a larger SUV who had opened up their trunk blocking the view of other cars, arguing with the attendants and not moving, but he had passed by us several times and said nothing) and was not in the way of the larger SUVS. So we drove home unhappy and I'm writing this review instead of watching "Epic", which I was looking forward too. I guess I'll have to catch a matinee of it at the theatre. After this incident, we are not inclined to come back because we'd have to park all the way in the back and why go an hour early for a "good" spot when we can just arrive at 8:00 like other cars and park there and we won't be recommending this to other friends. We had a good time, it had been a very long time having been to a drive in. Only one screen and the grounds are not maintained, but when it gets dark you can't see it anyway. The picture was good quality and make sure to bring a boom box if you are sitting outside to tune into the sound. read more

I was at the Goleta Public Market last year while visiting Santa Barbara. When I was there, they had a guy singing, taco trucks, fresh produce from vendors, and a petting zoo. One of the animals in the petting zoo was a spotted poodle with dyed hair. Kids loved it either way. I wanted ice cream, but the manager said that their freezer broke the night before and they lost it all. I guess it has been fixed now, because ice cream is good. You should try some when you are there. read more

My family and I enjoy this drive in. We bring the beach chairs out, bring our own food and drinks along with my Block Rocker Bluetooth speakers and set it to the proper radio station. The only thing I don't like are planes that fly over and close... but that's expect since it is close to the airport. Either way, I still give it a 5 star rating for great quality time. read more

Film and sound quality are excellent. The fact that it is cash only is inconvenient; this isn't the 1970's! The facilities need to be updated and the parking area resurfaced. People are also inconsiderate and leave their headlights on or don't know how to turn them off so they can flag you in the eyes inadvertently throughout the movie. The fact that you can bring your own food is awesome and we brought a five course meal for the double header. Went there last night for the first time since I was a kid (I am not counting the American Graffitti showing that was played a couple years ago). The sound was great and the picture was excellent for an outdoor showing, don't expect hi-tech resolution like you would get in an indoor theater. Plus the staff was super nice and polite. The bathrooms were actually really clean. Being able to sit in your car and not hear other people or be able to make comments without disturbing anyone was perfect. I am already looking forward to my next showing out there. Oh and the price is unbeatable. read more

Be wary of premier nights- you have to pay for both films and although this fact is well publicized, the nights that are premiers are not. We've gone a couple times when the marquee and website haven't changed and thought we were still getting the two for one.
