Walk into the building and smack to the left is the Dang's burger ordering counter. To the right is Sunburst Wine Bar. The bar has a bar counter and chairs. The interior look is modern, unpretentious casual. Bright with lots of natural light. But if you're looking for a TV, they don't have any. The vibe is chill, unpretentious, welcoming, and family friendly. Family friendly bar?!? No, kids aren't allowed at the counter but are allowed on the outside patio and well as leashed dogs. The patio seating is tables and bench seating. The bar menu has draft beers, local wines. and canned drinks. They have flights. While partaking in a drink at the bar, you can even eat your Dang's food at the bar as well. The bartender was a sweetheart. Engaging with a great attitude. And may I add, she isn't a wimp. Lost and Found is a gift shop operated by locals, they have locally made gifts, paintings, coffee table books, Christmas ornaments and many other decorating items. If you ever visit Carpinteria and like to get some souvenirs, this is the place to shop at.

For those who are familiar with the show Schitt's Creek, I would compare Lost & Found to Rose Apothecary. Instead of David and Patrick, you have two sisters named Susan and Patty who warmly welcome you in. While one could describe it as a 'general store,' others would think it isn't so 'general'. It is a communal coffee shop in that making that hopes to allow everyone to "come in and find themselves." The ultimate goal is to be open seven days a week selling a wide variety of things, including: -Specialty dark roast French coffee with milk -Freshly made goodies (including chocolate chip cookies, brownies, and an assortment of chocolate-dipped ginger, apricots and more) -Home decor and products (lotions, candles, fragrances) -Locally made art pieces, stationery and more! You can't help but notice the space's focal point of a gorgeous tropical-framed painting or all the local art that yells "Carpinteria!" Many ways to try avocados including avocado ice cream, chips with "world famous guacamole, and avocados with shrimp. With free admission and free parking (if you could find it), it was worth attending. There was much security and my family felt very safe. The music on three stages and the opportunity to walk in downtown Carpentaria made it especially enjoyable.

While wandering Linden Avenue, it's hard to miss the Carpinteria Arts Center. We have walked by it…read morewithout experiencing its charms until yesterday evening. We'd had an early dinner, strolled down to the beach, and were headed for our car when we heard live music. Turns out that there was a live concert of rockabilly music happening. Free, too! We entered in to their courtyard and found chairs facing the band, with a dance floor set up, as well. The Rockin' Henry's were on a break, but soon returned. A nice sized crowd was on hand to enjoy beer and wine, music and dancing, in a family-friendly environment. The Rockin' Henry's are a family band with both parents, two teenage daughters, and their charming 10 year old son playing a scaled down upright base, singing lead and backup vocals, alternately, it was an event to remember. Their style is definitely rockabilly, and got people up on their feet to dance. One downside was that the sound balance was off, so that it was very hard to hear the vocals. That was a shame, as there was a lot going on in the performances. Clean restrooms inside the gallery building made for convenience. I didn't study the paintings in the gallery, though I should have, as what I could see from my courtyard seat, the art looked colorful and well-displayed. We'd look forward to attending other events at this comfortable venue, especially for music performances.

Carp is an upscale beach town and locals are very proud of the place. It is one of my favorite places . . Art Center offers a variety of classes for children and adults. I'm an artist and a teacher so I'm really appreciate this center.
