Truly a testament to the long-lasting connections I made here. PSCS provided me with the unique opportunity to lean away from perfectionism, and lean into the hard, but rewarding, process of collaboration and community care. It was also a place for me to challenge ideas and ideals that I might not otherwise have confronted until adulthood: I found space to explore my own identities, to have discussions about race and class, and to ask important questions about my place and role in the world. Most importantly, PSCS helped me unearth a deep joy that is so easy to lose hold of during those tumultuous teen years. And I learned how to continue to spark that joy, far beyond my time at the school. If everyone could experience a taste of the warmth, tenacity, creativity and joy that PSCS brings, I am confident that we would be better listeners; better community members; and would be more grounded in our own identities. And in these times, a PSCS is not only a beautiful space, but a necessary one. As the Department of Education faces massive threats from the current administration, it is more important than ever that we- and especially our young people- have the opportunity to think critically, to explore identity and intersectionality, and to practice radical love and care. I hope that more families will take this small leap of faith; the reward is truly unimaginable. Warmly, Avery

The impact of this incredible school on my son's life has been lasting and transformative. Since graduating, he has traveled the world, performed music on stages both big and small, taken on a leadership role at a local semi-professional soccer club, and excelled in his first year of college. But more than his accomplishments, it's how he moves through the world that stands out--a reflection of the values he cultivated at PSCS. Wherever my son goes, he builds community. He leads with integrity, engages with courage, and fosters meaningful connections. These aren't just skills he picked up--they're values he internalized during his time at PSCS. I cannot overstate how deeply this school influenced the way he chooses to engage with his life, take responsibility for his choices, and connect with others. As a parent, I always knew my son was surrounded by a caring, supportive community of adults who genuinely saw him for who he was and who he could become. His teachers held an image of his best self and gently but firmly guided him toward that potential. PSCS gave him the freedom to explore, the courage to take risks, and the safety to grapple with tough questions. He experienced joy, had brave conversations, and learned what it means to live authentically. The maturity and leadership I see in my son--and in every PSCS graduate--comes from the trust, responsibility, and respect this school extends to its students. Adolescence is such a critical time for young people as they shape their identities and discover how they want to impact the world. At PSCS, this process is nurtured with care, intention, and a commitment to creating empowered, compassionate individuals--the kind of people our world desperately needs more of. I stayed on as a board member after my son graduated because I believe so strongly in the mission of PSCS. It's more important than ever that schools like this continue to thrive, serving new cohorts of young people seeking to find their place in the world. PSCS doesn't just educate students; it empowers them to live boldly, work collaboratively, and build a better future.

HRS was able to get him caught back up to 1st grade level after slipping in Kindergarten. Since then he has thrived both academically and socially. The level of education provided by caring teachers and staff definitely helped him become the well rounded student he is. The teachers, their curriculum and dedication to student development is evident in the kids and provides every student the base to move on comfortably into High school. An equally important and valuable part of HRS is the family and parent community. Definitely one of the best group of people to share the challenges of raising children through elementary and middle school. The way that everyone comes together to make sure fundraising is a success and traditions are handed down is absolutely special. A final point that stands out to me is how HRS handled the events of Covid. Terrible as it was for everyone, HRS anticipated the possible impact on our kids and literally days before the "shutdown" we were told that as a precaution each child would be given a box of work and supplies. Then when the unfortunate happened, the teachers and staff stepped up immediately and prepared for families to pick up the remaining supplies needed to work remotely. It happened so fast and seamlessly, it was awe inspiring. Hopefully, we are never faced with that again, but I can't imagine a better place to be. I can't recommend HRS enough, from the front office ladies that keep the day moving smoothly, to the after school aids that provide such care, Holy Rosary is worth every penny and more.

The water view and beautiful architecture are just amazing. We were in the stadium and the stairs killed us- these students must be in great shape! Lots of steps from street level down to the field. Lots to do nearby- so much great food and wine. Excited to come to more events here someday!

Stadium High School is a centerpiece of the film, with many scenes shot right on campus. Visiting in person felt like stepping onto a movie set! The drive from Seattle to Tacoma took about 45 minutes, and navigating the city was fairly simple. There's plenty of street parking around the school, but be mindful of your surroundings. I actually witnessed someone breaking into a car in broad daylight, so I opted to park around the corner on a busier street for peace of mind. The school itself is breathtaking--its grand, castle-like architecture makes for stunning photos. Around the side, you'll find the football field, which offers incredible views of the water and boats in the distance. The gates were open while people were exercising on the track, so we were able to walk right in. Just a heads-up: the stadium stairs are steep, and there's no alternate way back up, so take your time climbing! This spot is a must-visit for movie lovers, architecture admirers, or anyone looking to soak in a bit of cinematic history. Just remember--it's an active high school, so weekends are the best time to explore without disrupting students.

Programs and Opportunities: -IB (International Bachelorette)- A program in the Junior-Senior years where you can get an IB diploma by having a full IB schedule. IB is similar to AP in the sense that it has harder course work. IB credits can be transferred internationally, being good for a student that wants to go out of state. -Trio Program (college prep) -Upward Bound (college prep) -College Bound (college prep/scholarship) -clubs (a lot of clubs) -Language classes (Japanese, Chinese, and Spanish) -Music Program -YMCA programs -Neighborhood Healthcare (super important for low-income students/ students that need to do things discreetly). The one thing that bothers me the most at Sealth is, nobody has spirit. Spirit is something that has a huge impact on the way you experience high school. I'd say less than 15% of the school dresses up for spirit days, participates in pep assemblies, and attends dances. It makes for a very lame high school experience. The teachers are the people who have the most spirit. You can go to ANY other school, and they will have at least double the student spirit than Sealth. Garfield is a perfect example. As for sports, Chief Sealth quite frankly isn't the best in sports. The sports that do have a lot of potential are usually overlooked. Luckily, some sports have been receiving more recognition, like wrestling. Quite honestly, the school spends too much money on some sports, not going to say which ones. The athletes are sore losers a lot of the time, so sportsmanship could be improved. On to teachers, the teachers at Sealth are pretty good. I'd say they all have super different styles of teaching. Out of all the teachers that I have had from Sealth, 3 have actually bothered me. The thing that all 3 of these teachers exhibited was passive aggressiveness. Being passive aggressive is just such a bad approach to teaching, students don't feel safe sharing their questions or concerns. There are some other teachers who some may think are crazy, but those "crazy" teachers end up being the most influential and kids take the most away from them. The last thing about Sealth: they recently put in a new rule. If you're a running start student or part-time student, you're not allowed to be on campus unless it's fifteen minutes before your class. This rule is dumb, there are so many other reasons that a student might need to be at their high school campus. What if a student wants to get their FREE/REDUCED lunch? What if a student needs to talk to their counselor? What if a student has nowhere else to go because they live far from the school? Whoever implemented this rule obviously has no idea about students' outside lives/circumstances. The high school should be a safe place where the student can work on their homework and eat lunch, even if they are a few hours early. They're still apart of the school, they're still enrolled at the school. The thing is, this rule was created to prevent running start kids from coming and wandering around the school (which rarely ever happens), but the school can't even control the kids that have full-time schedules at the school. There are always like 20+ kids just wandering the halls and skipping. Worry about the kids in the school first.
