We absolutely love the new school! This was a great upgrade for our local neighborhood. The PTA and teachers are great as well!

HRS was able to get him caught back up to 1st grade level after slipping in Kindergarten. Since then he has thrived both academically and socially. The level of education provided by caring teachers and staff definitely helped him become the well rounded student he is. The teachers, their curriculum and dedication to student development is evident in the kids and provides every student the base to move on comfortably into High school. An equally important and valuable part of HRS is the family and parent community. Definitely one of the best group of people to share the challenges of raising children through elementary and middle school. The way that everyone comes together to make sure fundraising is a success and traditions are handed down is absolutely special. A final point that stands out to me is how HRS handled the events of Covid. Terrible as it was for everyone, HRS anticipated the possible impact on our kids and literally days before the "shutdown" we were told that as a precaution each child would be given a box of work and supplies. Then when the unfortunate happened, the teachers and staff stepped up immediately and prepared for families to pick up the remaining supplies needed to work remotely. It happened so fast and seamlessly, it was awe inspiring. Hopefully, we are never faced with that again, but I can't imagine a better place to be. I can't recommend HRS enough, from the front office ladies that keep the day moving smoothly, to the after school aids that provide such care, Holy Rosary is worth every penny and more.

The balance of social, emotional, academic and athletic opportunities that Holy Rosary School provides is unmatched in our neighborhood. We did not join as a Catholic or parish family, but found immense value in the focus on kindness, community, service to others and becoming your best self that Holy Rosary embraces. It has been a wonderful experience and we wouldn't hesitate to do it all over again. 8th graders graduate confident and well prepared for high school (and beyond).

Oh the Tilden family is special! All the grades play together, the parents of all grades know each other and help each other on a daily basis. Tilden kids are widely known and recognised in middle and high schools around because of the kindness and empathy that is fostered here. My daughter was an early reader and math doer, and the teachers meet the kids where they are and fit the curriculum to the student, not the other way around. The traditional epic Halloween carnival every year is a thing to behold - the kids look forward to it for weeks and talk about it for weeks after. There may be no playground (yet, watch this space) but the school has been so resourceful in having lots of mobile games and outdoor toys that give the kids the next best thing. They also have a fantastic after school enrichment which my daughter is thriving in (giving her freedom to play and have fun after the rules of school during the day). I can't say enough good things about Tilden - if you send your child here you won't regret it.

The camp offers an outstanding balance of activities, care, and experiences that have thoroughly engaged my two children. The program's size is perfect - small enough for staff to know each child personally and provide detailed daily updates, yet large enough to foster new friendships and exciting group activities. During 'Games & Sports Week,' the activities were incredibly varied and well-organized, including: - City bus trips to parks and splash pads - A Tacoma Rainiers baseball game (via chartered bus) - Walks to the International Fountain - Ferry rides to Bainbridge Island - Water games - Visits to Golden Gardens Park The program includes lunch, and their pricing is competitive with, if not more affordable than, other local camps. Looking ahead, we're excited to explore their other themed weeks, such as Music and Theatre, Art, and Water Sports. The staff's dedication to each child's experience and well-being is evident, making this program truly exceptional. We'll definitely be returning next year. Thank you, Spruce Street School!

We have been part of the school for three years. Our daughter has grown so much from her time here. Academically, she is challenged by her teachers to think critically (even in kindergarten). The other day she asked if we wanted to make up math story problems at the dinner table, because Giddens encourages students to bring fun, creativity, and exploration into how they learn hard skills. Social and emotional learning is also a major focus for the school. Last week there was a talent show for the k-4th graders, and the amount of love, respect, and excitement the entire school showed to these brave and talented performers was incredibly moving. Giddens works hard to education future leaders, and it shows.

He is intellectually challenged by the curriculum and class discussions, works on super interesting projects across subjects, but also, he is in a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment where there's a culture of kindness. He has become more kind and playful, has learned how to play with kids of different ages, and the mixed age classroom experience has been an unexpected benefit - as he has many opportunities to lead and mentor younger students. The staff is also very receptive to questions and feedback, and the afterschool program, with built in opportunities for an assortment of extracurricular classes, is amazing.
