I had a terrible experience…read more The woman who was doing the X-Ray was very rude and I think the dentist just wants to subject you to a lot of procedures to make you pay more. I'm not white, I think I was also treated poorly because of that. Racism is everywhere. I tried to stop her and explain that I was feeling very uncomfortable, she kept on saying she knows her job. I had to pull the x-ray out of my mouth because I thought I was going to throw up. I asked her how many shots she needs to take, she sort of avoided my question and said there are still so many. I rephrased my question, and said I'm asking about the exact number because I'm feeling very uncomfortable, and I may not want to continue this procedure. Then she said she still needs to take 22 (which is A LOT. I'm still trying to understand what the standard procedure is). Then I told her that I don't want to continue. I thanked her and said she was doing great, and that Im leaving because I was feeling nauseous. Her reaction was very rude ("You cant just leave! You need to see the dentist!"). The dentist came and said he isn't going to change the standard procedure for me. "What are you going to do if you got pain again?" he asked, and I felt like he was trying to convince me to get the treatment, making it sound like it was my only option. Go to a dentist who actually cares about your comfort and health, and who isn't treating people poorly because of their skin color or accent.

Starting about 3 weeks ago I began to get severe pain on 1 of my teeth so started looking for an emergency dental appointment. I'm new to the area so I had to searched for local dentist offices. I reached to Gianino's, as its closest dentist office to my home. I explained the pain was so severe that I wasn't able to even go into work at the moment. I was told the dentist is on vacation but would be back the following week so I booked the earliest appointment. The first meeting nothing was done to resolve the issue, just X-Rays. I came back to the office today, 9 days after the initial meeting, for a "follow up" while still in debilitating pain. He brought me back into his office for a PowerPoint style presentation, with a long drawn out sales pitch totaling $80,000 for all the work he suggested I get done. I wasn't told that my insurance was out of network until I inquired simply about resolving the issue I came in for on the one tooth that is currently causing me pain. It seemed as though the conversation of insurance coverage was being entirely avoided until I asked directly how much insurance was covering if I was paying out of pocket $575. It took me about 10 minutes to even get to this point while dodging recommendations for ear, nose and throat specialists, amongst other things. At this point I couldn't believe that he had made me wait over 2 weeks, while in severe pain just to inform me I was out of network. The fact that he had the audacity to throw in a long drawn out sales pitch totaling $80,000 before ever getting to the cost for the issue I initially came in for left me jaw dropped. I would recommend anyone avoid this dentist office for any work on anything in your mouth. They seem to operate with zero transparency or empathy and simply care about one thing... making money. I'm not sure of the ethical standards that were crossed here but I'm happy I didn't end up having any work done by this office.

Dr. Cohen and his staff are patient, calm, friendly, and frequently ask if you are doing okay and/or if you're in any discomfort. I recently had to return for three visits in a short amount of time; felt only one moment of pain and was immediately given more novocaine, and was put completely at ease by Dr. Cohen and his dental nurse, Carol. They even had me laughing at several points. Heather, the hygienist, has an easy and fun personality that always puts me at ease. I cannot recommend this dental practice highly enough.

While checking in, they kept spelling my son's name wrong, and when I spelled it again I got attitude, I wasn't trying to be rude, I have a complicated spelling last name. I told them I had been seeing a dentist and hadn't been having any problems and they told me "well they haven't been getting paid," I said, "I don't think so," and then the receptionist said "well you do you." Honesty, I would have laughed had it actually registered in real time. I had asked why no one had told me about this when I called the week prior to RESCHEDULE the appointment to THIS DAY - and they said "we just got the email last Friday," okay, so 7 days ago? Also, if they hadn't been getting paid since January (it's currently May), why are we just now hearing about this? We had also been there since January. So, we took some time to call some other dental offices in Massachusetts and none that we called were having issues with MassHealth. I highly recommend A Mother's Touch Pediatric Dentistry in Fitchburg - they are accepting Mass Health. We also did research to find that Dental offices had to submit new applications by January to receive payments from MassHealth, so hopefully someone's taking care of that over there. Honestly though, an "I'm sorry, someone should have called you" would have gone a long way. Just because we're on Mass Health it does not mean we are uneducated or our time isn't valuable.

If you can get the amount you will pay after your dental insurance pays and do this before the procedure. It will make your life easier. Make sure the Office has the correct amount of deductible for your dental insurance. Basically you have to be your own book keeper and stay on top of EVERYTHING. As kind as I can say this. The girls are nice in the office but the billing and treatment plans with the insurance is AWFUl. To me they don't do their job or they are bad at their job. The front desk made no attempt to convey to the dentist that I arrived for the scan, and the dentist asked why I didn't come in at 9 AM. What made the experience even worse was being told afterward that I still needed additional CT scans before they could even proceed with the wisdom teeth removal and they said they couldn't even do it today after waiting 2 hours and paying $176. They also said they may need to do additional scans after since I'm past the age of 16 years old and wisdom teeth removal isn't normal after 16, but they KNEW my age when I scheduled this appointment and filled their forms online. I feel like the communication about costs, treatment, insurance coverage, and required imaging should have been handled upfront before making me wait for hours and completing scans that apparently were not sufficient. These people completely wasted my time. The entire incompetency of this office was quite appalling. The front desk also seemed like they didn't care at all and the male dentist was extremely rude and unprofessional. Patients deserve clear information about pricing, insurance, and treatment requirements before services are performed. They already robbed me of $176 dollars and expected $150 out of me just for the CT scans. I expected my wisdom teeth to be removed today but they completely wasted my time and stole $176 dollars from me. Don't waste your time with these people they are rude, unprofessional, and suck at communicating. Absolutely ridiculous! I should have listened to the reviews of this place being a terrible establishment. Go anywhere but here, it will save you time and money. I was honestly happy I didn't have to get my teeth pulled from here just by their attitude and incompetency, it seems like they aren't qualified to do literally anything. I also plan to report them to the Board of Registration in Dentistry and if you had a horrible experience here--you should report them too! It seems like they've gotten away with this type of circus act for way too long.
