I rarely, if ever write reviews but feel the need to put my experience on here to warn any potential victims who need dental work done in the area. Starting about 3 weeks ago I began to get severe pain on 1 of my teeth so started looking for an emergency dental appointment. I'm new to the area so I had to searched for local dentist offices. I reached to Gianino's, as its closest dentist office to my home. I explained the pain was so severe that I wasn't able to even go into work at the moment. I was told the dentist is on vacation but would be back the following week so I booked the earliest appointment. The first meeting nothing was done to resolve the issue, just X-Rays. I came back to the office today, 9 days after the initial meeting, for a "follow up" while still in debilitating pain. He brought me back into his office for a PowerPoint style presentation, with a long drawn out sales pitch totaling $80,000 for all the work he suggested I get done. I wasn't told that my insurance was out of network until I inquired simply about resolving the issue I came in for on the one tooth that is currently causing me pain. It seemed as though the conversation of insurance coverage was being entirely avoided until I asked directly how much insurance was covering if I was paying out of pocket $575. It took me about 10 minutes to even get to this point while dodging recommendations for ear, nose and throat specialists, amongst other things. At this point I couldn't believe that he had made me wait over 2 weeks, while in severe pain just to inform me I was out of network. The fact that he had the audacity to throw in a long drawn out sales pitch totaling $80,000 before ever getting to the cost for the issue I initially came in for left me jaw dropped. I would recommend anyone avoid this dentist office for any work on anything in your mouth. They seem to operate with zero transparency or empathy and simply care about one thing... making money. I'm not sure of the ethical standards that were crossed here but I'm happy I didn't end up having any work done by this office. read more

I got advertisement by mail. I was new to MA and didn't know any dentists. I went to Dr. Gianino. If I only could go back in time and cancel my first appointment. Hygiene cleaning was done poorly but I was interested more in Xrays. He told me that I need to have fillings done in 3 teeth for sure and 2 other could wait. I decided to do all 5 together. I always take a good care of my teeth and go to dentist every 6 months. I was surprised that I need so many fillings, later I learn that I didn't. He was late for my appointment, did all 5 feelings extremely fast and rushed to the next patient. After I came home my fillings were high, I had no contact between 2 teeth and food started to stuck there, 2 teeth had gap between filling and the tooth. I went to adjust the bite. Dr. Gianino said that last time he broke filling material on the neighbor tooth and decided to polish it instead of fixing so that is why I have no contact between teeth but he will fix it for free this time! Seriously?! You not preventing cavities but predispose to them! Filling was too high again and I developed sensitivity to cold of my healthy teeth. Went again and he was removing not just filling material but my healthy teeth tissue. He worked like a meat cutter but far away from detailed art of the dentistry. All work was done in a slovenly way! Now, I have cracked filling with the sharp edge in the tooth which he tried to fix. I wish he didn't touch my teeth at all. He is not a detail oriented person. It is careless attitude, poor quality of work and materials. I regret so much going and destroying so many teeth. My bite is off, healthy teeth are sensitive, food gets stuck and fillings needs to be redone...Not sure if it was needed at first place as my xrays didn't show cavities but I trusted the doctor. I had many dentists but this one is the worse. His office workers are very nice and he has a lot of free time to see you! Update! It is 1 year after feelings! My new Dr did X-rays and compared with the old one - I didn't need fillings 1 year ago, except in 1 tooth which he didn't do! Dr Gianino did 5 feelings in the healthy teeth!!He just wanted to make money! Now I have problems with all those poorly done fillings and have to redo all of them! The dental hygenist Angie is very kind. I would give her 5 stars if I could, other than that this dentist and this practice is just a money hoarding scam. I came here for the new patient appointment that was supposed to be $59.00 and they were supposed to do a a regular cleaning on my teeth. That's literally all I wanted. Instead these people didn't even do a regular cleaning on my teeth, and tried to convice me I have some huge gum disease, just wasted 1 1/2 hours of my time, and said to make another appointment and pay more money for a "deep cleaning". Like what? I'm 20 years old. My teeth are not about to fall out and I dont have some insane gum disease? So basically I just paid $59.00 for nothing. I didn't even get the cleaning I wanted, and have to come back and pay more money for a new appointment and more cleaning that they may not even give me because before that I have to schedule another appointment for consultation? They're just wasting my time and money. It's not a good idea to go these kind of private practices. Most dentists do a regular cleaning, floss out your teeth, if you need some fillings do all of that in one go too, do a dental exam, and then send you home. All in one visit. They also give you floss and mouthwash in the bags to take home. This place didnt even do that. Lmfao I'm sorry but this place is cheap. My $59.00 are gone and I dont have dental insurance so i'm not paying $130.00 for the next appointment and who knows how much more money on top of that for some "deep cleaning". read more

First off- There is a big sign in the office advertising $25 off your bill for a positive review left online. So keep that in mind when reading positive reviews. I came in about a brown spot on my tooth, and left being told I needed $1200 in dental work- I, like the other reviewer, was also advised to take out a LOAN to pay for my dental work. I had a concern about a small issue that was important to me, Dr. Gianino looked over my head, asked the hygienist "have you ever even HEARD of someone being worried about that?" and rolled his eyes. About 2 years ago I went to this office utilizing the "first time" patient offer. I brought my daughter twice over a year span. We paid out of pocket because we didn't have dental insurance but, care for our teeth. I was happy to have found a place nearby our home because we traveled to Acton for our dental care. Unfortunately, like many of the other reviews here it was not a deal at all. After taking X-rays and viewing them. Dr. G tried to say that I couldn't have my cleaning because I had arrived 5 minutes late. (I called to let them know I was running late and they let me know all was ok. It was truly 5 min) He let me know I could come back and he would review my x-rays free of charge? (That was part of the new patient promotion) I disagreed and informed him my husband had left work at 1pm in order to watch our children so I could go to my appointment and have a cleaning. We are not corporate employed and have our own small business so when we miss work we don't get paid. I ended up getting the cleaning (but, felt like I had to fight for it) I was so turned off by the Dr's bedside manner, attitude and experience that I decided to it would be best not to return. I went to this dentist when I moved to the Lunenburg area 5 years ago. I scheduled a cleaning. When I got there I was told I had gum disease and several other dental issues. They tried to pressure me to sign up for a dental loan so I could pay my $10,000 in dental treatment they claimed I needed because I didn't have dental insurance at the time. I knew something wasn't right and told him I had no intention of doing this. I had a feeling I was being scammed and didn't think I had many of the dental issues they claimed I had. I decided to go to another dentist for second opinion. I got a copy of the treatment plan Dr. Gianino said I needed and showed it to the other dentist. The other dentist said I didn't need any of these things to be done and I didn't have him disease. I needed a cleaning and a few fillings. I've been going to the other dentist for the last five years and he has never once pressured me for services I didn't need. Do not go to Dr. Gianino. I have been pleasantly surprised by this office on a very consistent basis. I had a lot of dental work done as a child and had developed fairly intense anxiety around dental procedures and needles in general. They office staff are always welcoming and warm, and the hygienists are consistently informative and communicative throughout appointments. Dr. Gianino offers all of the information as well as his own opinion of what he personally would do (everything) but he and the staff are ultimately respectful and supportive of the decisions you make in regards to your own dental health. Very comfortable throughout procedures and actually "just a pinch" when it comes to procedures that have been excruciating with other dentists. This dental office was highly recommended to me by my brother. I'm not a fan of going to the dentist and always have a hard time with the visit. I never felt like I got enough information. That being said this dental office is amazing. I got Lisa as my dental hygienist and she is beyond amazing. She took the time to talk to me about my dental issues and what I could do to stay on top of it. Dr. Gianino is the best dentist I've ever had, he is upfront on his expectations and costs. I have a tremendous amount of anxiety with going to the dentist. Thankfully I found Dr. Gianino and his team! I've been to a few dentists and tried to explain my anxiety but the lack of empathy or understanding has not made encouraged me to go. They took the time to talk with me and make sure that I felt comfortable with everything they were going to do. Also, I appreciated being explained the price breakdown of certain procedures and advice on payment options. The new patient special is also really awesome. My experience here has been pretty horrific. It started with a normal cleaning, which actually went pretty well. I was somewhat taken aback by the $25 discounts for positive reviews online. After the appointment, I was ushered into an office to listen to a somewhat high-pressure sales pitch. To me, it was like being asked to buy a timeshare. I felt somewhat mocked when I said that my idea of dental care was twice a year cleaning. The second visit 6-months later was a shock to me. I was told that I had 4 cavities, needed to replace six mercury fillings, and needed a root canal. I declined everything but the root canal, because that tooth really hurt. To my shock, the root canal took 6 visits to complete, each costing me a great deal out of pocket, even with the pre-payment "discount" of 10%. Some of the visits were merely to replace the (uncomfortable) temporary crown. I eventually left, after spending far too much money. When the new local dentist assessed my situation as not needing to replace the mercury fillings and he found no cavities, i felt used. I would not have left this review, but i'm stuck on his spam list and recently received an email ad that left me feeling even more used. In it, there is a reminder to use up your year-end insurance before you lose it. I felt it in incredibly poor taste. We're not widgets, Dr. Gianino; We're not cash mines. We're people. read more

Sending promotional materials promising a certain price point , losing my appointment in the online system , then asking me to take out a personal loan and giving no other options is just plain greed. They knew I did not have dental insurance and I left their office in tears because 2,500 was not in my budget, nor will it ever be. My family and I started going to the office of Dr. Gianino last year. Previously to this, we were going to a dentist in Worcester that retired. We had searched for dentists in the area and decided to see how the office/care was provided here. The first visit was very thorough. We received a comprehensive exam and dental evaluation with a promotional service the office was having. Well worth the money! Subsequent follow ups were just as good as the first one. My family was amazed with the service and profecionalizm we received from the receptionists, our assigned dental hygienist to Dr. Gianino. Although the initial diagnosis for my dental needs was extensive and expensive, the road to a perfect smile is being led by a well trained team. I was referred to Dr. Gianino's office by a mail piece advertising $99 for new patients. It had been 8 years since my last dentist visit and I knew that I needed a good amount of work done. Sure enough I needed several cavities filled and wisdom teeth removed. They referred me to CMOS for the wisdom teeth and I scheduled several appointments for the cavities. Everyone I encountered was always welcoming and friendly. All of the work that I needed was explained to me thoroughly and Dr. Gianino himself ensured that I completely understood what needed to be done. Jen in the office answered all of my questions regarding insurance in a timely fashion. I have quite a phobia of going to the dentist and any time I expressed my concern they did what it took to calm my nerves. Due to the current events going on, I was very nervous that I not only wouldn't find someone accepting new patients but would not find someone in a timely manner with the tooth discomfort that I was experiencing. I did as everyone does and looked through multiple dentist office websites and made a few phone calls but, was only contacted in a timely manner by Dr. Gianino's office and got in the very next morning. I was also only charged $59 for my new patient visit which was a promotion they had going on at the same time that I needed help! I have had a life long dentist phobia and my anxiety was through the roof! But, it had been years since my last dentist visit and I knew that I had some things to take care of. From my initial visit to my insurance/financial consultation to my first visit to start some of the work, I was pleasantly relieved by the welcoming kindness and genuine care that I received from Dr. Gianino, Jennifer and all staff in the office. Everything was explained to me in a manner that was very easily understood and I was told several times not to worry because they would get everything taken care of for me. I went in to get a general exam and cleaning but when I got there I was told I would need 10,000.00 in "restoration" work. My teeth are in good shape so I knew this guy was a shyster. I am very shocked to come on here and see such poor reviews for this office. I've been going here for a year and a half probably two years now and absolutely love this place it has a homey feel to it .The ladies at the front desk are so sweet dr. Gianino is amazing, I'm not sure where you guys went but I have had 5 cavities filled because another dentist did a poor job and didn't pay alot had my wisdom tooth pulled only paid $27.00. Yes there is a sign saying if you write a review you get 25.00 dollars off your next visit like most dentist offices do no were on that sign did I see that you had to write a good review...
