The ownership changed in 2022/2023; so, the practice is different now than what was experienced in the past. I moved into the area recently and had to leave my beloved previous dentist. My visits have been with Dr Chai (sp?). He is very intelligent and communicates well. I had an emergency visit for pain in a tooth that has a root canal. He diagnosed it properly and got me antibiotics to stop the infection. He gave me information to track down the possible underlying issue. This week, he did my cleaning. He was fast and competent. I highly recommend him. They have up-to-date equipment and pleasant staff. read more

Arrived early for my appointment at 10. Dentist was 38 minutes late to my chair. I noticed he was about to use epinephrine which I can not have due to high blood pressure. I advised, yay me! Numbing agent did not work well, I felt everything. Dentist also did not use a mask and when he spoke I could feel saliva landing on my face. When we were finishing up he asked if my teeth bit down ok. I told him that I was not able to give him a good answer because my mouth was so sore. NOT NUMB. SORE. He said that was normal . A few minutes after I left I fould feel that my teeth were cutting me because the edges were so sharp. Then all of the sudden a chunk fell off in my mouth! Picture attached! I do not advise going here. He may seem like a nice guy to have a conversation with but I would advise him to consider retirement or a new profession. This was my last experience here. read more

Quabbin Valley Dental - Piece of a filling done today. Just fell out while I was driving home afterwards. I had not eaten either. - General Dentistry Near Me - Athol, Massachusetts

I had the best dental experience I've ever had at Quabbin valley! They are very kind and professional, compassionate and informative. Great bedside manner. I was anxious/ distressed over my broken teeth/pain and received same day care. Dr C., Olivia and the whole team are wonderful and I will only be going to this practice from now on. -Alida C read more

Positive experience and with, of all things, a root canal. Backstory is that I have really horrible PTSD from my childhood dental experiences, even at 65, the memories are overwhelming. I have had a lifelong fear of dentists. This practice has been both kind and effective in helping me to get past it, so I can access needed care. Instead of being dismissive they've really helped me. They postponed the whole procedure once I shared my fear and anxiety. They rescheduled, in order to prescribe medication, which I now take the night prior and prior to visits. Hearing the drill is still triggering for me, but the combination of medication and ear plugs got me through. The procaine block worked exceptionally well. There was no pain at all. The localized swelling was minimal too. Grateful for the competency of this doctor and understanding and caring staff who are helping me to get needed services despite my fears around all things dental. I recommend this practice to anyone in need of dental care, especially, if you know you need to get to the dentist, but have been procrastinating. : ) read more

No stars been going here for about two months to have an abscessed tooth out and they just keep canceling my appointment. The Dentist is stuck in traffic or the internet is down to name a few reasons. In the mean time I'm living with severe pain 24/7. Do to some health reason my teeth are all rotting out they and in that time they have gotten so much worse. They definitely don't care how much pain your in . This should have been considered an emergency yet they keep put me off . I'm off to the er can't eat or drink . honestly I wouldn't send anyone there.. read more

My mother went to this craptastic dentist. The following is her account of the worst thing I've seen from a dentist. "I went to Quabbin Valley Dental after losing my gold crown for the 3rd time. My first visit was short, and they had to schedule an appointment for 4 weeks later to deal with it. The dentist, Behruz Almassian, said he could use my gold crown as a temp while waiting for the new crown to come in, so told me to give it to his assistant to put in an envelope and put in a safe place. It sounded weird to me, but then again, it was my tooth, it fit, and it would work while waiting for a more reliable crown, so I fell for it. At my second visit, Almassian prepped the tooth and was creating a temp, and I asked the hygienist (who was assisting him that day) that if he wasn't going to use my gold crown as the temp, then could I please have it. The assistant left to talk to him, and Almassian came in furious, yelling at me saying he didn't give teeth to customers, that it was toxic material, that if I had a titanium leg and lost the leg, I wouldn't go ask for the leg. He said it was destroyed, and then said he sends it in batches to MassHealth and gets a little bit, couple hundred dollars for it. He stood over me yelling, "HOW MUCH FOR A ITTY BIT OF GOLD?!" I told him I paid $1006 for that crown, and he yelled, "NOT FOR CROWN! HOW MUCH FOR GOLD?!?!" Then he opened his wallet and tossed a $100 bill at me. I was shocked! I didn't understand what was happening and why he was so furious. He stormed out of the room and I was looking at the money wondering just how much my tooth was worth? I couldn't believe he took my gold and was now yelling at me about it. He came back in the room and snatched the money out of my hands and shoved somebody else's gold crown in my hand. He said, "Maybe you get $15 for that." Sooo, I can't have MY gold, it's toxic - but I can have some ELSE'S?" read more

This is the worst Dentist I think I've ever gone to. The professional person they call a dentist, is rude, insulting. The place is a joke for a Dentist office. If you're looking for a Dentist you can understand who doesn't belittle you, stay away from this place read more

My experience with Quabbin Valley Dental was mostly bad. The two hygienists I saw were wonderful - they were clear in explaining their work and what I needed, and honest about the preventative steps I could take to avoid more work. Communication with the receptionist was quick and easy. Overall, the support staff was nice and accommodating. The bad: I came in for multiple fillings the following week and while the doctor worked quickly (something that I appreciated in the moment), he did truly terrible work. I have sharp ridges and gritty teeth where these fillings are, and I honestly don't trust the man to fix these problems, certainly not without charging. Will not be returning, and want advise that you take notice when a dentist brags about how quickly he works... that's not necessarily a good thing. read more

DON'T BUY THE YELP VOUCHER!!! Recently moved to the Phillipston/Althol area and had a dental emergency. To be fair, Quabbin Valley Dental DID give us an emergency appointment for the next day...that's were all the good feelings ended. Upon arrival was ushered into a dental chair that was rigid, I mean straight up, and left there to my own devices for plus 20 minutes...to say it was uncomfortable is an understatement. Finally, I just got up and stood until the doctor arrived. Xrays were taken of the problem area - yes, need a root canal. No they do not offer sleep dentistry, gas, or other modern inventions. So, good to know I can treat this problem with salt water until I can find another dentist. Now about the Yelp voucher...FORGET IT! Paid $80 bucks on-line for the Yelp voucher, then found when presented that it would not cover ANY of the emergency services I received...bait and switch all the way. BE INFORMED BEFORE YOU PURCHASE THE YELP VOUCHER! It will not be honored unless for a full exam, full mouth xrays and who knows what else, or not. Certainly these limitations are NOT disclosed on the Yelp voucher when you purchase it on line. Voting with my feet folks...never will be going back to this practice again, even if it means blowing $80 bucks out the door. After all the good reviews of this practice, all I can say is Yikes! read more

I am so far out of their area, but yet they send me JUNK MAIL. Any business that addresses mail to "Resident", rather than the actual resident, so that you CAN'T GET OFF THE LIST is a business I would NEVER use!!! read more

I have been using them for almost 2 years. In the beginning it was great! No wait time. Now within the last 6 months every time I come in the wait is at least 30 minuets to an hour. They have rescheduled my appointments numerous times, causing a whole new build up for my crown. I do not recommend them at all. I'm actually currently searching other dentists while waiting half an hour over my scheduled appointment time. read more

Where do I begin to describe the lack of customer service? I cannot believe the run-around I got for 3 months trying to secure an appointment, only to have it cancelled when I didn't return their call. When I asked them what their exact policy was, they became offended. Never have I experienced so much drama! Good riddance! read more

I visited Quabbin Valley Dental for the first time today. I didn't have to wait at all which is always a huge plus. The dental hygienist was great. She took her time, was very friendly and explained everything she did. In my many years of going routinely to the dentist no one ever took the time to explain what the gum evaluation is (measuring in mm) and what it says about your dental health. I also learned that the main point of flossing is to introduce oxygen into your gums to fight anaerobic bacteria which results in decay and disease. After the cleaning the dentist came in and evaluated my teeth. He was professional, friendly and helpful. Between the hygienist and dentist I think they must have asked me if I have any questions at least 6 times and were happy to answer any that I had. I would suggest going to Quabbin Valley Dental and I will certainly be back! read more

Can't say enough about this wonderful practice. I had an incredible toothache and was able to book an appointment within hours of my phone call - in spite of never having visited the practice before. I was promptly ushered into an exam room; X-rays were taken and a treatment plan was determined. The doctor, assistants and entire staff were pleasant, polite and professional. I don't have dental insurance, but the cost was competitive and I understand that, in addition to accepting credit cards, they offer some financing plans, but I didn't inquire about that. I plan to visit this practice again for both preventative and restorative services and highly recommend them. read more

The office manager is extremely rude here. She was very short, not helpful at all and kept giving me the run around. My tooth was made worse. Ended up going somewhere else for it to be fixed so i never had to deal with them again. read more
