So until today I haven't seen a dentist since February 2020 and with my problematic dental history that was a mistake. An old filling from a different dentist popped out and it turned into a hot tooth leaving me in a lot of pain. Now I know it was only by chance, but of all the dentists I called, Union Dental Shrewsbury had the soonest appointment available and there I went. They have an easy online form to fill out so you don't have to sit and fill out a bunch of paperwork there. The receptionist was friendly and welcoming, the place was clean and still taking COVID guidelines seriously. Unfortunately I'm an unintentional difficult dental patient, I tend to require an extra dose of numbing and additionally it usually takes a little bit longer for the numbing to set in for me than others. Today's visit for whatever reason, this particular tooth was a very hot tooth and despite double doses in more nerves the tooth remained active and angry even after half an hour. It was looking like the filling would have to be rescheduled and not once did my dentist Mrs Kim nor did her assistant (hate myself for forgetting her name!) make me feel like a burden at any point. I was a bit embarrassed about it but both were very comforting, attentive and taking it in good stride. I understand business is business and they have other people in need they have to attend to so I was fully accepting that Id be going home still with pain. I could tell Mrs.Kim was stressed from that and really didn't want to do that to me (wouldn't be her fault!) but she didn't give up. Whomever had an appointment after myself was an extremely good Samaritan I wish I could thank personally-- because they willingly let go of their appointment so that Mrs. Kim could try again to work with my ridiculous tooth. Thanks to this Samaritan and this team my tooth eventually chilled the hell out (after a full hour....) and I was able to get the filling. I do feel like most dental businesses (and I honestly wouldn't blame them) would definitely not have attempted to reschedule the next person---to help a Masshealth patient no less. They went above and beyond and not once did they show any irritation towards me and were purely kind and dedicated. I was seeing a different dentist before who couldn't get me sooner but the bedside manner is like night and day and I'll be completely switching to Shrewsbury Union Dental. In my whole life this was the best experience I've had at a dentist- even if the next patient had refused to give up their appointment. Now I feel the need to pay it forward some how!

A unhappy ending after responding to Dr. Novak's tv ad about being "the solution" with mini-implant…read moreservices. Issue: missing teeth & one that is crumbling. I drove 1+hr to get to them, and ended up there almost a whole day following a 12hr overnight work shift. I waited nearly an hour past my appt time, and then later, waited in my car again another hour before anyone could speak with me re: a care plan. Dr. Novak was condescending, lecturing rather than using his limited time with me to present a positive plan, I was passed through the hands of 5 staff members while there, the place was a ZOO and the tiny neglected building was crammed with equipment and messy clutter. I overlooked all this, as they said COVID had caused a scheduling mess, but then was made to feel that I was demanding & they couldn't work with me because I expected them to reply to my follow up to get my 1st treatment appt scheduled. I feel that I dodged a bullet in the office mgr's rejection of me as a client.

My last front lower teeth finally failed - and it was time to remove them and move on to mini implants. Anyway - he removed the teeth but first drew my blood for this new "procedure". L'PRF. Its a damn miracle. It involves your blood to create a membrane they put on the surgical area. My healing extraction to denture was 3 weeks. In a few weeks we move on to implants. Dr. Novak is a great man with greater skills. I highly recommend him.

I've been going to Mossmann…read moreFamily Dental for a few years, but today I saw him for an issue that I wasn't even sure was dental, and Dr. Mossmann diagnosed me (after several other medical specialists including an ENT and my PCP were unable to do). He is incredibly thoughtful (meaning, he really *thinks* about his patients' issues) and thorough, and does genuinely seem to care about his patients. Plus he and his wife Leah (the hygienist) take care of many animals, including the strays in their neighborhood. Wish I could leave higher than 5-stars; they are the best.

The hygienist seems to really love her work -- she's always prepared, very professional, and always tells me about some new technique or technology she's interested in.. The dentist (her husband) is also a professional: he always comes in to look over the x-rays and compare the history, and genuinely seems concerned. He's filled a cavity for me, and did a very professional job. It's great to have a nice dental office right in town.
