That was a bad year for my eyes - I found a couple of places down in the Bay Area and the care difference was very clear; where as Dr. Miller was through, attentive and caring, my experience in the Bay Area was just the opposite. I guess I was just spoiled! Well, after a year or so, I decided that my eyes deserved better, and I'd work visits to Dr. Miller's office around the holidays, and now I'm back to being "spoiled!" I am continually impressed by how much care she puts into me - for example, after doing an eye exam and finding the right prescription, she'd bring me outside and have me look around outside to double check my vision! Lately, she's guided me through a laser eye surgery procedure to correct my vision, and she demonstrates time and again her wisdom and experience. For example, when we sat down together to decide the "target correction factor," she took my age and upcoming life experience into account, and brought me outside to see how being nearsighted by 0.25 diopters looked to me (she brought out lenses that would intentionally make me nearsighted). It turns out I can't tell the difference, and I will be thankful for being nearsighted by 0.25 diopters will be very good as I age into my 40s and 50s (in the next couple of decades) since my close up vision will start to get poor! Most eye doctors will not think so far in advance - by planning so far in advance, an unnoticeable change today will bring about much needed relief in the decades to come! Dr. Miller is truly the best of the best!

I did splurge on new glasses since I got just "computer" glasses for work and my progressive lenses weren't working for my job as I stare directly AT a computer screen for 8 hours everyday. Truthfully though, the service here is better than a chain. You get doctors who CARE and know what they're doing. HIGHLY recommend it. Also - what other vision place do you know that has a piano?

The customer service is now shockingly poor. Just getting the initial appointment seemed ridiculous while the person scheduling me seemed to be rolling her eyes when I had the nerve to be questioning what their latest and earliest appointments are. They are close to my house but I work close to Hillsboro which can be tricky to get to or from sometimes. Saturday appointments are not available and even regular appointments are booked out for weeks - perhaps they are so busy that they just don't care? I genuinely do not drive around during the day. I also was not aware they have half of Beaverton under construction so I was running late by about 10 minutes. The entire lobby was full of people and the person at the front had a conversation with the eye person who I think my appointment was with.... the eye person glared weirdly at me. Was it my cane? I was super confused and trying to get to the counter around all the people storming their counter. The person at the counter had wandered away, then over five minutes later they come back finally to say I was now over 15 minutes past my appointment so he would have to reschedule me? I get it if I actually was THAT late and seriously, making the appointment the first time with a person talking down to me was already challenging weeks before but this just seemed like they overbooked and were finding an excuse to just get rid of me. Thanks, got the memo. Oh, look...here's another place my insurance recommends down the road with available appointments today. Bye...

I would like to start off by saying that for many families dental care is a privilege..and I think…read moreit's important to recognize that many adults and children in our country go without care due to lack of health insurance, poverty, access to resources, etc. My fiancé and I have been together for 10 years and get married in 9 days. He often makes comments about how lucky our kids are..things like family trips, toys, clothing, dentists and doctors, school events, etc. And while our kids have gone to the dentist since age two, he himself has never been his entire life. He has a great job with great health insurance..a privilege that he didn't have access to as a child. I told him he needed to make an appointment with a dentist to get in because mouth health is extremely important, especially since oral health is connected to heart health. He did a quick search on google and decided to try Oregon City Family Dentistry. The woman on the phone was very helpful and patient with him, considering this was his first ever time scheduling an appointment like this. She did her best to get him in as soon as they had possible, working with his work schedule in mind. He went yesterday and they cleaned his teeth, took x-rays, and took any necessary tests, etc. He came home and explained to me how friendly and helpful everyone was. He was extremely embarrassed over the whole thing (imagine for a second), and they never once made him feel put down or inadequate. They welcomed him, did an excellent job explaining things, and were extremely patient, friendly, and caring. He came home very sad and a little shook up over the whole situation because they discovered he has a few issues as a result of having never received dental care..but Oregon City Family Dentistry took away some of his stress and didn't add to it. They explained treatments he'll need coming up and all that. Not to mention in the 10 years we've been together I've never seen his teeth shine and sparkle like they did after they thoroughly cleaned his teeth. They said they wanted to give him the perfect smile for his wedding day..and they did. From my perspective, my family is so important to me and I have tremendous love for them (of course). So I want the best for them..and that includes care from compassionate and capable people in something as personal as health care. This wasn't an easy thing for our family, and I am SO thankful that Oregon City Family Dentistry made this experience as easy as possible. I would recommend anyone to go here because I trust them and even though it seems easy to treat people with respect and kindness, we all know that it's not always found in the real world, but it certainly is found here and that's all I could ask for. And if any staff read this, please accept my deepest THANK YOU.
